5 OS Pleasures in your Day Today part 2

Evening all.
I've had one of those horrible days today where I don't feel like I've woken up properly, and it wouldn't take much for me to doze off again. It's therefore ended up being a rather lazier day than intended:
1) SO smoked salmon and HM seed bread for brunch.
2) Watching the snow falling on the garden: it's strangely hypnotic even when at completely the wrong time of year.
3) Finished my book while drinking several cups of coffee in a failed attempt to wake myself up.
4) Gas safety check done and all is OK, although I'm going to have to have strong words with the letting agent about messing me around: someone was meant to come first thing on Tuesday but didn't show up, then someone was going to call me to make another appointment but didn't, and then today someone showed up at my door unannounced to do the check that I was told wouldn't happen until tomorrow at the earliest.
5) NPD and - hopefully - a LSD: I'm going out for dinner with my pub quiz team but most of the cost of the meal should be covered by our collected winnings. :money:
Have a nice evening, all.Back after a very long break!0 -
Errrrm, pleasures......lying in bed with a rubbish back this afternoon, was just pouring a drink when I got a sharp pain and it started spasming
but...
1. NSD/NPD
2. Nice chat with chum to rearrange night out tonight to another time
3. Called various companies to schedule appointments for letting agents to come and give me an idea of rental value of the house
4. OH helped me get painkillers, crutches and off to bed when my back went
5. Lovely chat with DD on the phone, seeing her tomorrow0 -
It has to be the weather....snowing again and dull here all day until 10mins ago.
1.No Spits until I risk no more backwards-es. Not unduly stressed by this - just feels inevitable atm. Temps due to rise at w/e, but rain also due. Will it never end?
2.Another NPD/NSD - oh, not true, if I count a Haynes Manual order and Jacky Klein's new Edn of Grayson Perry, which - as current library loan - I was going to have the greatest difficulty in bringing self to return:-).
3. Birdfeed all used up today - lots of robins. More suet balls out. Oiseaux shopping demain or Sunday if I'm in Trumpy carboot locale. It was so bitterly cold out replenishing feeders in driving gritty snow. Birds seemed to wait desperately and stayed close as I told them I was doing my best, would buy more soonest. Don't feel like doing anything really...
4. ..except read, renew hwb. That's what I'm doing straight after this. I see there's a Jonathan Creek on i-player. Might watch.
5. Laughed out loud at lots of Mark Thomas - Manifestoes from Bridport:
http://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/b01rlrjj
My favourite was: 'Turn all wind turbines to face South - and sail England closer to the Mediterranean.'
I'd heard his ravishing 'Bravo Figaro' tour de force on the way back on Monday night:
http://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/b01rl708.
When the postscript announcement came, my hands left the steering wheel as I 'Oh,no!'d involuntarily. No wonder it won awards.
6. em done and visit arranged for demain.
vjm, pk, ccp, kittikins, skint's son, chicken - anyone else who cares to - join this winter woe subset?
Real Life was nano-degree less dreary tonight. I want chocolate. None in house. Does this put me in the Precariat? Hope so:-)CAP[UK]for FREE EXPERT DEBT &BUDGET HELP:

Poor you Kittikins, hope your back improves
Yes, Ampersand, I am in your subgroup - absolutely sick to the back teeth of the weather.
Quiet in here today.
My pleasures
1. MIL was well enough to be taken home :T (but is the pleasure that she is well or that she is home??) I have never seen her so poorly and she perked up even more when back in her own house so I guess it is both.
2. Nice drive back from MK - singing along to my ipod
3. A soak in the bath when I got back
4. I, too, ate half an easter egg
5. Had a mammogram this morning - and they found enough to squeeze into their machine  It wasn't too uncomfortable and it was quick - I was in and out in 20 minutes.
Night allI wanna be in the room where it happens0 -

Hello all - thank you for sharing, especially the weather...
1. Yesterday, on trike, a pedal down to A!di in glorious evening sunshine... and on my return, having the speed and legs to pedal at a fast rate of knots to get warm and get out of the cold.
I have a park opposite my house, with a footpath and no road between us. Normally I dismount and bump the trike up a steep kerb, off the road and then remount and ride along the path to the house.
Yesterday, to maintain momentum, I shot through the traffic entrance to the park, turned left at the NO CYCLING sign and rode through the largely deserted park, taking a good look at flowerbeds at least a month or so behind. Then pedalled out through the foot gate that lines up with my front door. Get me, the rebel....
2. A fantastic live music evening the other night, and I yet again won in the raffle. (Low alcohol wine , Aussie Merlot. ) I knew I would win, I'm usually right with that feeling. I wish I could work the same with the Lottery.
3. So much clutter gone from the house with a big pickup by the British Heart Foundation. Favoured charity of mine, since undiagnosed heart disease took a beautiful friend forty years too early.
4. Study pack has finally arrived for my course, after a phone call to the office. Looks great.
5. Aintree, first day of the GN meeting, and after that, watching my very long time favourite jockey Mattie Batch(elor) on Come Dine With Me. Batch has an enormous, hugely likeable personality and to see him taking the stage he so deserves in the media is wonderful. He's not a big name but he is a big talent. More, please.
6. Channel 4+1 for when Sis rang during Aintree and I missed a sizeable chunk.Erma Bombeck, American writer: "If I had my life to live over again... I would have burned the pink candle, sculptured like a rose, that melted in storage." Don't keep things 'for best' - that day never comes. Use them and enjoy them now.0
