Hello, it's been a pleasant day here. Coolish start but reached 24o before cooling down again ....warm enough to dry the washing! ( all ironed)
1. Saturday scone and mooch through the papers and supplements.
2. Cheaper than usual shopping.....all by myself...seems to be cheaper when it's just me...hmm I wonder why?
3. Easter biscuits and choccy bunnies, cream eggs majorly reduced so stocked up...not sure how long they'll last!
4. Popped in to one of the department stores and they had Christmas cushions that I had liked at Christmas but would never have paid the ridiculous price. They had at least 80% off...so treated myself ( husband just shook his head!!)
5. I put shopping away ( kids usually do it but this was so I could hide chocolate !) and gave fridge a wash.
6. Sat in my office with OH , very companionably quietly, both reading. Listening to the birds singing and enjoying the warmth of sun.
7. Had a wee snooze!
8. Lunch of crusty bread and pât! and tea of nachos . Simple but nice
9. Watched a Holby whilst ironing.
10. Chose new glasses. Blooming fortune but we can claim full amount back through health insurance.
That me, a nice pleasant day.
Have a good one and poorly people have to get better soon:)0 -
PK - I hope all goes well with the ferret xx
Skintos - I'll be Goldie as my hair is gold/yellow/dyed;) Katie Walsh has the "fire in her belly" and lets be honest the resources available to her. If not this year, she will be first female to win it I reckon . I was there in '87 leading up a tiny weeney horse who ran in the National that year (Maori Venture/Steve Knight) won it - much fun and frolics over those few days ...nuff said:o The atmosphere is awesome !!
Right off to read the paper and get OH to put some bets on .:AToo fat to be Felicity Kendal , but aim for a bit more of the good life :A0 -
Evening all.
1) Had a nice dream about Moggett last night / early this morning and have felt happier today than I have done since he was PTS last week.
2) Lovely sunshine all day, and warm enough that I could leave the door open for a few hours this afternoon.
3) Washed the kitchen floor, which it badly needed.
4) Bought a new car! :j It's a little VW which I have already mentally dubbed a 'VOGV', the 'VO' standing for 'very ordinary'! :rotfl: It will have a full service and MOT this week and I will be collecting it next Saturday. :j
5) Did a raid on L!dl and got some good bargains, and didn't get blamed when the box of ginger beer split and one of the bottles fell out and smashed - from the resigned attitude of the CS guy it wasn't the first time it had happened.
6) Watched the grand national - a good race, and no fatalities which makes it even better: it's a shame Katie Walsh didn't win after her great showing last year, though.
7) Something involving sausages for dinner tonight, as I picked up several packs on SO in L!dl earlier - I'm just hoping some of the helpful people over the the what's for dinner thread can give me some ideas of what to do with them. :think:Back after a very long break!0 -
Evening
CCP - We had our special offer sausages in a sausage and pasta soup. As didn't use the whole packet will slice the left overs and cook into pancakes with a bit of bacon for brunch tomorrow.
Pleasures for today,
1. Meal plan written and shopping done for the week. £10 under budget which I was very supprised by as stocked up on a giant packet of loo roll and bought washing powder:money:
2. Sun shining and washing dried on the line
3. Little snooze this afternoon but it did mean I missed the grand national
4. Very cheap but tasty dinner of sausage and pasta soup followed by a raspberry lolly, yum
Hugs to all who need them0 -
Just popped in and enjoying the read.
1. Nice lie in till 8 this morning.
2. Lovely walk with the dog through the fields without returning home muddy.
3.Got third in the national in my works sweepstake, prob did'nt win much but whatever it is will be paid off my CC.
4.Pizza for tea and a chilled glass of wine.
5.Lazing in bed ready this forum.
Hope tomorrow is as nice as today.x:j Debtfree and and staying that way.:j3-6 month emergency fund, No.61 £140.000 -

Kittikins good for you stepping back from a destructive relationship, I think a few of us here have had to do that. It brings a sense of freedom with it
Skint enjoy your long weekend, all x'd for DS's interview
villagelife brave of you to garden in the cold
mhags well done on the Christmas cushion, we have to buy these things at the right time. Can't expect men to understand!
chicken hope you earned some pennies from your bets
CCP more like SLGV for Super Little, Polo's are lovely cars and being GV's will run for ever
Tealady I don't think you missed much during your siesta, it was just some horses running round a track. Same old same old
amber nice not to have a muddy dog, thank goodness the weather is drying up at last
DD after many attempts on pronunciation I had to look up Whovian - you learn something new every day. I don't think I like the sound of the latest dish, fish fingers and custard _pale_
1. Lovely text from a dear friend but wish she didn't send them at 7.30am when I'm still in the land of nod!
2. Think I've mended the spin on the wm by threatening it with the dump. Told it it's only three years old and wouldn't like it there with all the older heavies. Suddenly it started to work properly again
3. Went to visit a friend in her new home, in a beautiful little country town with lots of lanes and higgledy piggledy houses. Her lovely flat is on the second floor and she can see for miles from her living room
4. We had a mixed grill for dinner, followed by treacle sponge and custard. Delicious but it's blown any weight loss I might have had this week!
5. Watched the re-run of Goodbye to the BBC Television Centre. Funny and poignant
Sweet dreams0 -
CCP that is exciting car news, VOGV! :rotfl:I mis read your number 6 yesterday as making a chocolate and pepper pizza.:o And likewise today I also did a Lidl raid.
1. I was up until the wee hours with our little ferret as he was very very ill, but he is taking the medicines, and I think he will need the whole weekend to see if he will improve on them.
2. Managed to get the OGV insured shopped and very happy with the deal, I just really dislike having to deal with any sales people and try and meet in the middle at being ripped off.:o
3. Drove over to the in laws but we were later than we meant to be as we stopped in at Lidl and spent more than we have ever done there as DH found some tools and bits for the garage and I picked up an animal thing called a “cat see saw” which must be advertised by the most midget cats in the world, but perfect for ferrets.:rotfl: And picked up well pretty much 2 of everything in the half price weekend offers, crisps, Sausages, cucumber and the sausage kabossi?? thing to be tried.:):o
4. Happened to be there when the 30% label landed on chicken and mince so that was also bought which will be treat ferret food. And bought a bottle of their equiv baileys cheap equiv to put in hot milk.
5. We enjoyed time with the in laws, and definitely looking forward to some zzzzzzz’s as it’s now 2am, don’t think I will be getting up for a boot fair tomorrow.:)0 -
Clocks went back last night so I've had a lovely extra hour's worth of pleasures.
I've been up since very early o'clock after being woken by noisy possums outin the trees.
Had a mammoth 3 hour phone call with my friend. Lovely!
Made carrot and coriander soup which we've just had for tea.
Made cheese and mustard scones.
Made chocolate brownies
Made a lemon drizzle loaf
Repaired a ripped cath kidston duvet cover...it's now on DD1's bed along with a vintage eiderdown that was my granny's. she is very chuffed....and whilst I had the sewing machine out I made her a lovely cushion too!
We all went out for lunch which was nice.
Washed the net curtains from upstairs. I don't much like them but they come with the house! anyway they're clean now!
Had a Sunday snooze.
Read my book and almost finished.
Dry whilst out and about and then an almighty thunder and lightening storm, so lots of rain for the garden. It was dark just after 6pm
Girls went through their wardrobes so another pile of stuff for op shop!
So lots accomplished with my extra hour!
Have a lovely Sunday0 -

So Jilly Cooper wasn't so far out after all????
Greetings from sunny (but breezy) Wales
For yesterday
1. Lovely drive here with DS, snow on the fields but a blue sky and sunshine
2. Really lovely chats with DS - not just me barking questions and him grunting answers but proper conversations
3. Nice lunch at Llanfair Caereinion railway station
4. The flat we are in for the week (well DS and OH are, I leave on Tues) was warm when we arrived :T
5. Nice meal in the evening with friends who are staying nearby. A Simple chilli but was quick and easy and i did some nice trimmings with it. An elegant sufficiency of wine was consumed.
6. I had a cream egg - I've been promising myself one for a week. It was delish.
ANd today
1. A reasonable sleep, woke wondering what the strange roaring noise was, then realised it was the sea which is about 100 yards away.
2. OH got here at 9 (he stayed at home yesterday to do some DD chauffeuring)
3. Bacon sandwich for brekkie when OH arrived
4. Lovely walk with friends for a couple of hours. We have been coming here every year for 18 years - sometimes more than once and today we did a walk we have never done before. Every single year we have found something new to do but thought we had run out of new things - it seems not!
5. Honey Ice Cream - FrithIn a chocolate dipped cone with honeycomb on top. S0d the diet
6. DS had a lovely first day volunteering and got a footplate trip :T
7. Discovered we can use WiFi for free through our home phone and internet contract
8. Going to see the sea in a minute for a short stroll.
Have a good evening everyone.I wanna be in the room where it happens0
