Evening
Ampersand - Sounds like you had a well deserved break
BoP - Glad to hear tests all clear, good to hear people are being checked out. I lost my eldest brother to bowel cancer and I must drive people mad as always telling people to check out their bottoms.
Frith - Your posts always leave me admiring your spirit and love how pratical you are in just getting on with things. I could never do half of the things that you manage, in awe of you
Pleasures for today,
1. Sorted out ISA so now on a slighty higher interest rate and transferred some more money in before the end of tax year.
2. Quiet day at work as we had no email but did manage to get a few little jobs done and sort out some filing.
3. Two lots of washing dried on the line today, all folded up and put away so no ironing. Another load in the machine now so can hang out in the morning. I will get to the bottom of my never ending washing basket.
4. Mini mid week roast. Small gammon joint from Lidl SO this weekend with veg, potatoes and Y.puddings. Also made a cheats bakewell tart (used a ready made pastry case). All very yummy and feeling rather full now. Should have been some gammon left for lunch tomorrow but DD was in hollow legs mode so will have to think of something else for lunch.
5. Enjoying the walk home from work tonight so much nicer that it is still daylight plus even though quite chilly the sun was shining.
Hugs to all who need them0 -
What a lovely dog mc
A friend of mine is doing her phd on poo testing. I say it'll be a (r@p phd :-) joking aside yes good to get tested and very sorry to hear of your loss tealady
Welcome ampers thought you'd run off with paul and that's why lilian couldnt get hold of him :rotfl:
Good to have rest skint hope the break has revitalised you
1) long meeting this morning on main campus, got lift back to office with boss saving work the bus fare
2) found sloblady thread. Hillarious! Particularly like the idea that clothes are frightened of heights so dont like being hung up in the wardrobe
3) off work for 3 days as sister and family are here till sunday
4) left over pasta with jalapeno humous stirred in. Surprisingy nice (rest of them had ham sarnies but still holding strong on veggie challenge)
5) gave a card to phd student who seems a bit down. It had different smarties for different moods and i put 'for the ups and downs of a phd' of course now i wish i'd copied the poem for reuse...MrsSD declutter medals 2023 🏅🏅🏅⭐⭐ 2025

mcculloch Beth's a cutie
ampersand such memories! When we lived in Seaford we often took the DC to Alfriston for Drusilla's, Friston Forest for picnics, Seven Sisters (my screensaver) and the Cuck, where we went canoeing, Rye for the fish and chip shop and street market and Upper and Lower Dicker, which always sent the DC into fits of giggles. I can't think why! Thank you for the journey, I feel I was right there with you, and seeing your pleasure on discovering so much of that part of the country
CCP what a very kind thought to take the cat food to the rescue, it certainly is an OS pleasure to help others out.
Kittikins so pleased that you will be able to go to New Wine this year
DD did you know that one can now get their poo tested by post? I didn't, until I got the info and test kit through with instructions and how to send it back by post - sorry if tmi but pity the poor postal workers
1. I cancelled a difficult meeting I was due to have this morning, just can't be bothered with the person messing me about any more. Sat and had coffee in the sunshine instead, much more enjoyable
2. Lots of fiddly chores done this morning, cleared some paperwork and washed down all the radiators etc., don't know how they get so grubby. Something to do with paw marks, I think...
3. It must be a day for animal pictures, DS sent me some silly/funny ones which made me smile. Thanks, DS
4. Postie brought me two tubes of toothpaste to trial. It takes me weeks to get through one and they want the report back it 10 days so will just have to have two on the go at once
5. The florist who messed up delivery of flowers to my friend who has just moved has refunded me in full
Sleep tight0 -
I knew it was a good idea to post Beth's pic, my DD will be thrilled you all loved her.
A sloblady thread?
I must investigate...!Erma Bombeck, American writer: "If I had my life to live over again... I would have burned the pink candle, sculptured like a rose, that melted in storage." Don't keep things 'for best' - that day never comes. Use them and enjoy them now.0 -
Morning all - fell asleep before I could post last night
Nice doggy
Poo talk - in some european countries their loos have a "poo shelf" in them, so you can inspect it . It's a good idea as you can get early warnings of so many diseases / illnesses by looking
Glad you had a nice trip, Ampersand, we used to go on holiday to Camber Sands - a holiday camp there, but I would "escape" sometimes.:D
Yesterdays
1. MIL a little better :T but we still aren't letting her go home yet. Probably another day here and I will drive her home tomorrow.
2. Unexpected lunch with friend and her middle daughter. I like it when these little ones grow up and you can have sensible conversations with them. Her DD is nearly 15 and now you can talk to her like an adult - after having a niece and nephew here over the weekend (not FN's, though I feel a bit mean saying that), you can see the difference between 11 and 15.
3. OH had a good visit to his cousin's. Cousin is ill with cancer but is very upbeat at the moment.
4. Hand baked some bread - very satisfying. I even did one with a designer burnt crust
5. Chicken and veg stew and HM bread for tea. Got loads of meat off the cockerel and with some handfuls of this and that and a bit of chopped up stuff, i have made 10 portions for the freezer.
Gotta go to work todayBut it might do MIL good to see that it is boring here in the week when we are at work - I don't suppose DD will entertain her much
Have a good day all
I wanna be in the room where it happens0 -
& back from her south coast wanderers, and the talk is of Stools and Poo shelves. Not nice, but as one of us gets checked out, others get noticed. Cor I am dying for a decent ...
1:):):):):):) Giant Yellow thing is out
2 Cardigan on, do not want to freeze
3 Breakfast is always so nice when done with a fresh brew of tea.
4 End of year accounts, arrrrrrrrrrgh. Has to be done.
5 Next Docs coming up. Bin a struggle getting this far, but we BoP along0 -
VJsmum - Camber Sands! I swam in the sea there (with a young man archaeologist who was in the Territorial Army - those were the days). Being from a landlocked county, I said I would race him out to the buoy... It took 10 minutes to swim out there but I hadn't factored in the waves/current so it took us 40 minutes of VERY strong swimming against the current to swim back again.
I did think we were done for once or twice and he actually had to crawl up the beach, he was so exhausted!0 -

1. DS1 has had a job offer

Frith - hhhmm sounds like your archeology days held fond memories - Pevensey and drowning man . I used to be a bit naughty and take my pony, with a bunch of mates on their ponies , remove our saddles and gallop around the grounds of that castle bareback. They would all swap ponies but no one wanted mine as he would refuse to move when anyone got on him.:o
