5 OS Pleasures in your Day Today part 2

Good luck with the possible work change Chicken.
I am feeling very extravagant, I was over due to buy new work shoes but they are expensive as I get different ones due to the metal work ankle , dh mentioned it a few months ago, but I still went on wearing the same pair for the next couple of months and for the past few 3 days twisted my ankle every day. So I ordered a new pair of boots, but now I realise I will also need to order a summer pair – half the price, much more than half the leather..:rotfl:
1.Its Friday, work was okish...;)
2.I applied for some jobs.:p
3.A healthier dinner than last night, veg soup with some rice to give it some substance, that is if I can ever get in the kitchen at the moment DH is trying to re build the freezer cuboard as I type.:rotfl:
4.Greeted by the animals, thou in fairness I think I got in and made enough noise to raise the dead as tidying up, gathering washing loads etc.
5. Washing load on the go err only about 5 more to go:eek:0 -
I know what that's like, bop, but I reckon it's topped by this:
Pleasures? Not exactly:
1.TO WHOM IT MAY CONCERN:
For months I have looked forward to seeing Tim Minchin in Jesus Christ Superstar.
I drove down from East Anglia on Wednesday, having also booked an overnight stay @Thameside Youth Hostel. Using my Bus Pass from there[I am 64] I found my way to the O2 arena for the first time ever.
I had carefully noted how to find Entrance H, for Block 111, Row D, Seat 329 - turn right when facing Entrance B through the main entry, turn right down Entertainment Street and follow the signs. I had walked a long way when a blue/white Entrance H arrowed across a barrier-blocked sea of space. Entrance H was not visible. I followed anti-clockwise around the barriers' quarter circle. Now came another sign, tied to one of these, saying there was nothing further to see!
What on Earth was going on?
I had already asked what time the show was due to start, as 'Doors-18.30' is nothing to do with Curtain Up. The page 404 unavailable note has come up on the website for weeks now. I was getting anxious after walking around for 3/4 hour, looking for the way in.
No-one seemed to know anything.
Beyond the ostensibly blocked circumference, I could see a distant light and resumed past the barriers, finally finding an open merchandise shop. Neither young man in there knew anything about Jesus Christ Superstar, although one did direct me back around the barriers, telling me to cut across the open space, where he was sure Entrance H was.
By this time, one pair of barriers had been pushed slightly ajar: I went through this narrow space. Now I could see Entrance F and G. Presumably, entrance H would be beyond a small protruding office block after these. So it proved, but there were big glass doors, firmly shut. Again, unsure what to do, I pushed on one and could go through. I could not see seat directions relating to my ticket no.'s, but did see someone /Security? on the bank of t.v. screens. I was relieved. It looked as though someone was coming who would know what was going on.
In short, she was alarmed, wanted to know how I'd got in. I explained, showed my ticket. She got on her 'phone. It took several calls before someone else arrived and I was told the show was CANCELLED.
WHAT? Impossible, surely.
How could something like this happen and purchasers of tickets not be told? We were on our way to a desk, apparently, where 'staff' would explain.
I was still - and remain - in a state of disbelief. I am an old-age pensioner, for whom this represents expenditure[and savings]exceeding £130 in ticket and petrol alone, before accommodation.
Back by Entrance B was a school desk, with a girl dressed in black. Both Security ladies spoke to her and she withdrew an A5 sheet from a 3" stack held together with a rubber band.
I read the pathetic waffle, entitled 'Official Statement' and asked about reimbursement, asked about other people arriving, asked why I hadn't been advised, asked where those responsible were. I was at all times courteous, at pains to reassure the lass that I was aware she was not responsible for this farce.
Eventually, she found someone else on the 'phone, with whom I spoke, seeking a proper office address. Her bureau-speak was pointless:she seemed to be reading from a script. This individual DARED to say I'd been sent two emails. I was even told that I'd been 'phoned after that and 'was alright with it'.
How dare you be so ridiculous as to instruct staff in such ludicrous lies?
I WAS NOT EMAILED WITH THIS NEWS, NOR TELEPHONED. I RECEIVED NOTHING OTHER THAN MY TICKET ATTACHMENT ON 1 FEBRUARY, which I promptly printed out. When I asked when this cancellation had taken place, I was told 'early February, the 5th' i.e. ONLY 4 DAYS AFTER YOU SENT MY TICKET ATTACHMENT.
It is so obvious. Would anyone knowingly drive hours to something they knew to be cancelled?
You have earnt over 3 months' interest[and counting] on my money, £96.75p, since 8 December:
10 Dec 2012 POS 3537 08DEC12 , OUTBOX , *AXS-O2ARENATIX , 08448560202 GB - 96.75
When I queried the full sum not showing on my printed-out ticket, I was told my barcode would have 'a dedicated souvenir allocation bag' given out as I entered.
Employee 1 also had an A4 sheet on the desk. ''That's only for us' she said anxiously, but I duly read it.- para.J Terms and Conditions.
Whose were these?
'O2' she answered.
At this point another couple arrived, also looking perplexed. The same procedure re-ran, again with total disbelief on their part. We have exchanged email addresses, in order to stand witness to each other's account of what was said and done. We have both photographed the A4 sheet.
Will Tim Minchin be playing Judas Iscariot in October? His presence in the cast is my sole reason for going. I still have my original cast recording L.P.
I await your reply before taking the matter further.

2. That's done, ditto other and blood and x-rays today, more next Wed. Pneumonia and/or whooping cough on list of Dr H's latest suspects. Getting a bit Dickensian.

Am loading trailer v.v.early demain matin to whizz stuff to Roughing It abode. Won't tonight. Have done b.all, but feel exhausted and also promised Dr to be sensible.
4. Stopped at w8rs when outskirts back from The Great London Abortive. Lovely cappuccino, bien sûr, BUT a crowning spend:2-pk organic Perfectly Ripe avocados on 3 for 2@[STRIKE]£1.99[/STRIKE]69p =£1,38, less £1.99, i.e.WAITROSE paid me 61p per pkt. 6. More bluttyblutties - bop, I'm catching you in that department. Hotmail has upgraded itself. Don't want. Didn't ask for. A raft of important stuff has disappeared, as have 2 particular functions I use.
7. Wonderful to read of ongoing Triumphs of Sons of Frith. The change is surreal, marvellous, no matter how often we all keep saying so.
8. Realised I hadn't remembered Spiral. Will attempt to stay awake for that tonight. Have loop youtubed Saint Minchin of Tim's 'Drowned' though - it's in my head often:

Oh, ampersand, I'm so sorry about the fiasco in London - I know how much you were looking forward to it.
I hope you get back all the money you've spent - as you should, if there's any justice - I know it won't make up for the disappointment but at least you won't be out of pocket as well.
I know what you mean about the hotmail upgrade - I stuck with it for a few days then 'upgraded' all the way to a different email provider. What most annoys me is that Microsoft are forcing everyone to change to a different email system but aren't providing any support - the only 'help' you can get is by posting on a public forum. Reminds me why I dislike MS so much, really.Back after a very long break!0 -
Aw ampersand that stinks!
skintos & ckicken good luck with the reduction
ccp your experience of the delivery man reminded me of the miranda xmas special :rotfl: glad you got a sympathetic driver
Hope you're puss bearing up sparrer

Evening
Ampersand - That is so annoying . Please take care of yourself as well as you take care of others.
Pleasures for today,
1. Another foody day at work for Comic Relief. Our little office has raised over £300 in food sales in the last 2 days plus there was other fund raising things going on so with some matched funding should have raised over £750. Plus got to eat lots of yummy food.
2. Good banter in the office today as we all got together at lunch time.
3. NSD
4. We had so much food at work today was lots of cake left so brought some home. Also saved a pot of cooked bacon and sausage that was going to be binned. This was converted into a sausage and bacon hotpot for our dinner.
5. Menu plans and shopping list done for next week. Hoping to come in on budget again but will be tight as have a few store cupboard items to stock up on.
Hugs to all who need them0 -
Seems I, too, have been Ampersanded tonight - grr
I wished health to the poorlies, light to those who are down and warmth to us all - I also had a vent about OH and his snoring which is probably better removed
1. Thank goodness for the spare room to escape to from the above
2. Friend has signed DD's passport renewal forms now I have finally remembered to give them to her, so if DD gets a call from Spielberg, she will be able to go
3. Lunch with friend
4. Nice tea with DS - only him and me here till later. He actually talked to me without grunts and called me mum (usually he calls us Reg - have no idea why and I know I should be cross with him but he is funny)
5. Comic relief
Have a good evening and a good weekend everyone.I wanna be in the room where it happens0 -
Thank you everybody for your concern. The tests show Ying has diabetes and will need insulin injections for a long period if not the rest of her life. I have to be taught how to do it, not looking forward to it because I loathe the thought of hurting her. Am reading up all I can about it so I know how to do the best for her. Feeling shell-shocked just now.
1. Went out to lunch with a friend, a very nice meal in good company.
2. npd, friend drove
3. a friend who has just moved to a flat gave me some garden bits
That's all i can think of today.
(((Hugs))) to all who need/feel like one, sleep tight0 -
Hugs to all, especially Sparrer, Ampersand and VJsmum xx
1. There is a glimmer of hope: Uni 2 indicated yesterday that they rejected me without interview because they must have only read the first sentence of my application which was geared towards Uni 1's specialist course, so I've been given permission to rejig the statement and resubmit it. Fingers, toes and everything crossed!
2. I spoke to a lovely person at the GTTR (UCAS for wannabe graduate teachers) who looked at my application and said it was great and that my passion and enthusiasm shone through. Bless her!
3. After a not great night trying to get to sleep and sharing my bed with OH so not being able to wriggle around as much as I felt I needed, I thankfully woke up and felt a lot less achy than yesterdayI have managed well today on over the counter pain medication which is fabulous, as yesterday was on the s-t-r-o-n-g stuff!
4. It's the night before DD's birthday and all through the house, Kittikins was hunting for wrapping paper and finding enough for some but not the last of the presents!! Good job DD will be happy with one present in an A4 envelopeand another in dodgy bits of paper sellotaped around it, I'm so classy eh?!
5. We went over to a friend's for tea and had a lovely evening - yet another birthday dinner!
6. Last night OH took us out for dinner at his and my favourite restaurant in Brighton, nomnomnom - DD loved it too and even ate some of my spicy Vietnamese curry!
7. Great day at work, managed to work out a very tricky formatting issue on a software package I've not used before, very satisfying!
8. Mr Okardo delivered my shopping much earlier than booked, hoorah! I'd possibly still be waiting for it had he not popped in at 8:30ish. DD's traditional birthday breakfast of pains au chocolat is safe
9. Not sure who is more excited by DD's birthday, her or me - I don't feel old enough to have an 8 year old but know that every day with her just gets better and better, even when she's being a wee bit stroppy!
10. Trying not to get too excited at the thought of my teaching dreams not being completely over for the year......and failing a wee bit!0 -
That sounds like much better news, Kittikins!
What a shambles about Tim Minchin, Ampersand - hope you get something sorted out about that.
Am in bed already and very tired so here are my pleasures briefly:
1) Not a bad sleep.
2) Sons off to school and to Red Nosed activities happily.
3) Went to the physiotherapist who continues in her quest to get me symettrical.
4) Bought sons some chinos from Primark (seems they're the in thing, any sort of fashion sense is beyond me!) They're terribly excited by them anyway.
5) Went to college.
6) Went swimming with sons and my brother.
7) Bunged some potatoes in the oven just before going swimming so they were ready for us when we got back.
That's about it! Got my hwb and will listen to the Now Show.
Oh, a pleasure for yesterday! Occasionally smaller son gets the wrong word and he had a whole conversation with me about "bally-reering" by "bally-reers". This got shortened to "belling" and it turned out the word he was searching for was "dancing" :-)0
