Thank you for your kind thoughts. Having 'spoken' with other cat owners on the pet forum with experience of same problem it isn't looking quite so grim now. We've been through worse, we won't be beaten by this one :p

mhags hope Mr M has a better day.

Happy St Patrick's Day to all our Irish friends :j

Back later with my 5, have a sunny day :)

    Get well soon, Mr Mhagster
Sparrer - glad you feel more positive
Missed the rugby - for Cabin Pressure fans, apparently Mr Burling is still in the pub :rotfl:
    Hello Smoosh

    5 for yesterday

    1. Lazy ish morning - DD out at her drama class OH and DS went out to a footie match. It's DS birthday tomorrow (obviously the time for birthdays!) and this was his birthday treat.
    2. Finally cleaned the bathrooms which were looking a bit minging and did some sorting and cleaning in the lounge,
    3. whilst watching the first season of Waterloo ROad - just cos. Shows you how old it is as they were smoking inside the school - and that was the teachers :D and Phwoar that Jason Merrells is a bit of alright innee
    4. Yummy smoked mackerel salad for lunch and left over spag bol for tea - nice n easy
    5. Went to see DD in her school production of "Footloose" - goodness but the standard is high for a school production. THis is supposed to be one of the best schools for drama in the country so it should be good, and you can see why it has that reputation. DD has a minor principal role (She had 7 lines and one of those was "No" :rotfl:) Would be boyfriend (the one with the girlfriend) was in it too. I can see why she likes him - resisted booing when he came on

Have to make lemon drizzle cake this afternoon - DS wants one as his birthday cake. We are going out for his birthday meal tonight - as DD won't be around tomorrow, more pizza :p
I wanna be in the room where it happens

    1. I’m up to date on washing loads thou the house looks a tip as we are out of drying space.;)
    2. I’ve downloaded a few free kindle books, or rather I waded through Amazons free pages over 40k free books, after I found someone DH knows has a book out free to download over this weekend, so downloaded 15. Spent some time on Amazon trying to sort out the books into some sort of order, and joined the lending library thing.:D
    3. I’ve been collecting left over bread ends and made bread pudding today, kind of loosely following a bbc recipe, I don’t really follow recipes, anyone would laugh watching me in the kitchen.:rotfl: I just make sure I get the fluid amounts right, smells of the lovely sweet cinnamon topping.
    4. A weird pleasure, but it is a pleasure, my job will be ending in a few weeks, and it’s very much thanks to this forum and because we had serious problems before that while it will be a bit scarey - ish, we are in a far better position thanks to a lot of carefulness.:)
    5. The little chap we picked up yesterday seems lovely, very in season, uses the litter tray no problem, is eating vast amounts and we are feeding him up with convalesance as he is very thin, dammit I will not get attached, I will not get attached.:rotfl:
    6. I left the TV on Britains got talent funniest moments not expecting to laugh as it was background to being on the laptop and ended laughing loads.
    7. I stumbled across a recipe for oat cookies so decided to bake them as well, since the oven was already on for the bread pud they all worked out well, :p:) so err lots of treats here then, I haven't properly baked cakey things since christmas.
  • Sunday service

1 Perfect Butchers (95p) Poached eggs this fine morning, on toast, with bangers and rashers, Toms and Mushrooms. No dripped fat in fat as they were Butchers, not emporiums.

2 Went for walk round and about. Post Industrial Myopia

3 Steamed chocolate Pud, with floaters, Lumpy Custard. Served with Chunky Carrot and Beef Stew, with 10 ton dumpling.

4 No TV day 76. And still no Bull. Amazing how little it is missed.

    5 Fruits for a day

Back, after a dkwhat sort of day, which doesn't refer to the weather, which was on/off sleety and rainy by turns, often cold and windy as well.
I know that I am ultimately a solitary[unless, and I will know - have twice, so far] and today felt vindicated in this.

    1. Out at sparrow's, having agreed to help[against better judgment/health atm], as requested hier and accompanied by things of use, also bought purposefully hier and 1/2 dozen of M's girls' eggs. Ground had shifted. Let's leave that there. I'm back here now.

    2. One of yesterday's goodies was a long-needed[as avid Readers will doubtless recall:p - je m'en doute, je m'en fiche!]new2moi [2-storey pun] siège de vessie;). Old one, you won't need reminding, j'en suis sûr, was kitsch sunflowers. Replacement, still the 'k' word, is BARBED WIRE:eek:. Rather different sort of fun, depending on one's tendances. I do like it nonetheless, if very differently:D

    3. Amazed suddenly to see M&P in front of me at stall mid-morning, miles from chez eux. So timely, so welcome. I WAS glad to see them.

    4. Had remembered Dr's gloop so was glad to have slugettes every so often when desperate. Spitalfields M was =ly astonished to see me. Apprised him of ALL anterior situ's with discretion and broad brush. Thinking very much of Mr Mhags too - esp. hearing of appalling conditions coming and going during Grand Prix qualifying yesterday. Sounds as if you've not escaped it, mhags. I am ready for bed again now. Just one washload to complete, then snuggle, read, and I WILL[dang me!]put i-player Spirals on....[have I heard this before?]

    5. 20 oranges for £2 was a great market buy today - the only wandering I did, en rte leaving. Mr T no longer seems to stock Market/Everyday Value packs reliably, shoving the unwary to treble-priced bags containing fewer fruit.

6-y sort of usual cinq. Or will be if vj'smum will say more re:cabin pressure. Should I be finding it on i-player? Nothing there just now.

Bienvenu/e smoosh - it's your turn to put the kettle on/offer refills, join in Mornington Crescent.

Oh, alright then, 3 goes in a row for me. That's what comes of throwing so many 6's, so-o-o-o-o-....hmm, ah- in honour of where I've been today I'm electing to play 'trumpington’s variation
This is a refined, highly cerebral, variation preferred by intellectuals but played none the less. It results in a defensive game where players must take care not to become Blocked, Boxed, or Cornered.'
,esp after yesterday's victory for red shirts.
Has to be Ealing Broadway, obviously.

    7. I knew I'd meant to comment on my pleasure at you also loving Tim of M., McCulloch...where/when have you seen him?

    1) NSD and NPD #2.

    2) Found a bottle of cream cleaner lurking in the cupboard which cleaned off most of the soot mark from my scented candle, which had made rather a mess of the living room wall. I had to stop before the mark was completely gone, though, as it started to clean off the paint as well - why couldn't my landlord have painted the place with waterproof paint?

    3) Watched the replay of the grand prix (I didn't fancy getting up at 6 to watch it live :o) - it was a good race, but a bad result for the start of my first season as a fantasy F1 team owner. :( Oh well, things can only get better - having my drivers finish the race would be a good start!

    4) Had a brief chat on the phone to my sister and arranged for her to come and stay again over Easter, both for a visit and to drop off my new kindle. :j (My sister won one in a charity raffle at Xmas but, as she's already got one, I'm going to adopt it. :))

    5) Steak and chips for dinner, and I'm going to cook both pieces of steak so I can have a steak sarnie for lunch tomorrow.
Back after a very long break!

    Good evening all !

    5 for today

    1. Did the okey cokey with washing and gardening- rain , then sun etc etc

    2. Put some lettuce and radishes under the cloches in raised beds with a little too much help from my feathered friends !Poor worms don't stand a chance.

    3. Sister came down from the big smoke and rest of family . Too many babies around for my liking .. sloped off next door to read my gardening book, then went back later to be polite:o .Terrier was fab. with the little ones even when my great nephew stuck post it notes on her as she walked past with "woof woof " written on them:rotfl: Can't think where he gets it from;) .

    4.Curry for tea

    5. Heat pack on back as my neck hurts from gentle gardening- I saw stars at one point like Wiley Coyote . A cue to stop then I think.

have a good evening all !
:AToo fat to be Felicity Kendal , but aim for a bit more of the good life :A

    1. DD and her friend woke me up rather early but then let me go back to sleep whilst they monkeyed about quietly :)

    2. Fab time at church

    3. More birthday fun - various friends popped over at lunchtime and we ate more cake and sang happy birthday for the gazillionth time!

    4. Lovely friend and I sorted out all the stuff/rubbish/tut in my garage, took us a while and I managed to give her lots of 'treasures' and have lots of stuff for me to try and sell.

    5. DD and I managed, eventually, to find charity bins to put a huge amount of books, CDs, DVDs and clothes in, so many were very full.

    6. As we were both tired and hungry, we had McD's veggie/fishfinger offerings......and for once, they seem to have filled us both up! We're not exactly frequent fliers in places like that, I had to study the menu to find something that I would eat.

    7. DD made me smile when she declared that if she was in charge of making laws for the country, she would insist that places like McD's would give their customers cutlery!

    8. Have done a LOT of washing and dishwashing today with all the bits and pieces that came out of the garage, thank goodness for modern machinery!

    9. Made a deeelish soup for lunch for 5 of us, which was very green from spinach and broccoli, so we nicknamed it frog in a blender soup!!

    10. Snuggled up in bed typing this with DD fast asleep beside me.

    11. Will make the school receptionist's day tomorrow when I turn up with 2 vases for her to put the flowers in, rather than having to use her pint glass which she would rather have drinking water in! Amazing what turned up in the garage, I had 4 vases in total, and 3 of them have lived happily in their newspaper for over a year now, so it was time for 2 of them to go and for the favourite 2 (one was my granny's :) ) to stay.

Blimey, I do like to waffle on, don't I!? Are you sure you don't prefer me when I'm feeling miserable and less wordy? (Actually don't answer that ;) )

    Night all!

    7. I knew I'd meant to comment on my pleasure at you also loving Tim of M., McCulloch...where/when have you seen him?

I only know of Tim Minchin from the TV and You Tube, Ampersand, my son discovered him first some years ago and begged me to watch him. I did and was completely hooked. My other great favourite (that I haven't seen) is Henning Wehn. (German Comedy Ambassador) He is coming to Durham though, will have to negotiate with DS on this one.

    1. Using some toiletries that I was gifted and discovering that I rather liked them.
    2. Good progress on the work front.
    3. Getting completely engrossed in work and leaving the roast in for half an hour more than I should have did not ruin it. The roast itself was an A!di red spot bargain, a proper turkey breast for £1.50 with crispy skin and good quality meat.
    4. DS taking me shopping and knowing that I could afford a few treats. No red spots to be found, but some tempting new products.
    5. Unasked, DS has cleaned and tidied in the kitchen.
    6. I bought an odd little £land veg peeler ('Magic Peeler') that has an integral peel collecting box on Friday
I fully expected it to be completely useless and it worked beautifully today. It was particularly good at scraping off thin shavings of peel from carrots that barely need peeling, normally this makes a horrendous mess and I wonder if peeling thickly wouldn't be less hassle. It also coped with a large, thick skinned parsnip and took off suitably thick peel. It doesn't look particularly sturdy and it may not last long, but it's worked well.

Not a pleasure. Sunday snow yet again. Rush-hour chaos for DS in the morning.
Thank goodness for working from home these days. I have memories of walking across icy pavements at 7.00 am, quietly sobbing with fear in case I fell. This to travel for two hours on public transport to teach, and then the struggle back across the ice after getting off the bus home. This meant getting in sometimes 12 hours after I left, depending on where I was teaching at the time.
Tomorrow morning I will wake up, stroll downstairs after a leisurely half hour getting ready for the day, have a cup of Yorkshire tea and my fruit for brekky and then get stuck in to work.
    Bliss.
Erma Bombeck, American writer: "If I had my life to live over again... I would have burned the pink candle, sculptured like a rose, that melted in storage." Don't keep things 'for best' - that day never comes. Use them and enjoy them now.
