She was very badly bruised where they had tried to get a cannula in five times and failed. She is severely needle phobic, DS is too, so there was five minutes of very black comedy as they exchanged experiences.
A phone call this morning as I was getting ready for another hospital visit - my dear friend deteriorated very rapidly yesterday evening and died peacefully around 8 pm. How thankful I was that I took the time to visit on Thursday and also that I had asked my son to come up to the ward too.
She knew that I was coming again today and was looking forward to that.
Her cousin posted a lovely tribute to her on FB, showing how much she was truly loved and valued by all. I posted it on the 'Toughies' thread.
I have a night out tonight at the live music club that we both enjoyed so much when she lived locally. A good way to remember her.Erma Bombeck, American writer: "If I had my life to live over again... I would have burned the pink candle, sculptured like a rose, that melted in storage." Don't keep things 'for best' - that day never comes. Use them and enjoy them now.0 -
Oh mcculloch, how sorrowing, but how fine for her, for you and for your son that last Thursday's visit was a good one in essence. Am I allowed to feel that your son will have this and that sharing of black needle humour as one of his Man epiphanies? Now, tonight you have music for you both.
Your signature is part of this, too[so much like Marge Piercy's 'Putting the Good Things Away']and I, for one, will hear some music with you this evening.CAP[UK]for FREE EXPERT DEBT &BUDGET HELP:

Evening all.
mcculloch - I'm really sorry to hear about your friend. Have a fantastic evening out in her memory.
mms - good luck with the house hunting!
katholicos - hope you're feeling much better now.
I haven't had a great day today, so let's :
1) Blue brie and watercress sandwich for lunch. A friend of my mum's introduced me to blue brie a couple of years ago and now I buy it whenever I see some with a yellow sticker on the pack.
2) I was allowed my old computer monitor back at work, just temporarily, as the new one is giving me really bad neck ache. It's only until I can be assessed by occ health next week, but it's better than being in pain all that time.
3) My colleagues' disbelief when I told them someone wants to make a complaint about me, which assures me it isn't justified (I know it isn't, but it's nice for other people to think the same).
4) A feline hwb on my lap while typing this, even if it does make the actual typing a bit difficult!
5) Pub quiz tonight, in a pub with a log fire. :jBack after a very long break!0 -
Buckle up DD :rotfl:
Do nots nose what happened to me oiPad last eve. Seems it went on a BoP withdrawal syndrome.
Only one please today, and it would be really unkind to gloat. Seems the Hatters have agreed to rid themselves of their manager. Suppose Swindle Town will be soon anointing.

Good evening, everyone.
A productive day for me.
1. Went into town to pick up ELC quad bike for from Mothercare (reduced from £40 to £12) for my grandson's 4th birthday.
2. Went to my favourite shop (TK Max) and bought him a cute pirate book too, for £2.99 and also some Emma Bridgewater union bunting for £1.49.
3. Had poached eggs on muffin for my lunch (yum)
4. Finally finished sewing my curtains (except the hems but can't do that yet).
5. Sewing machine kept breaking down but I managed to fix it
6. Had a "home made" chicken bhuna using Lloyd Grossman sauce and still within my calories for the day
Got a few nice thiings to look forward to tomorrow too, apart from a mammogram0
