1. My new dishwasher arrived and its GORGEOUS and 'sings' to me when I press buttons
2. Lovely friend K plumbed it in for me
3. Lovely friends, oh so lovely friends, M (wife of K), K, G and her children came and have stripped all the wallpaper in my room. Woohoo!!
4. After hunting and hunting, I have finally found the gorgeous lovely paint I bought ages ago for my room, can't wait for it to go on the walls. It's the first time I've ever chosen colours for my room and it's so exciting, even at my ripe age of 41!!
5. Thank goodness, I feel more ME again today, even last night I was still feeling like part of me was switched off; time, prayers and rest are great healers when I'm feeling pants!
6. Managed to get rid of my horrible headache by mid-afternoon. I only had half a glass of wine last night but it was obviously rubbish stuff as I started feeling yuk after drinking it, so switched to water and by this morning, ouch! Thank goodness for painkillers!
7. Received £50 cashback cheque from my home insurers, I'd completely forgotten about it so it was a very lovely surprise
8. Chats to DD, my little treasure, can't wait til she's back home tomorrow
9. But before that, I'm going out AGAIN tonight, with G and we'll be child-free, a rare event for her and reasonably rare for me. Girls on the town (well, up the village anyway, lol). But we'll be booze-free
10. Listening to some of my favourite music on YTube.
11. Managed to give lots of DVDs and CDs away to G and the children as a bit of a thank you for all their help today.
12. Have found some delicious-sounding recipes to cook for dinner with friends on Friday night and wonder of all wonders, I already have all the ingredients in the house! I always seem to have very full cupboards but never the right things.........0 -

Ooh & I would had told that public sector employee to .... Some pope has note better to do. We have one near up, nebby nebs. Always checking,do things in cheap. Nots like none to enjoy their space. I would just move it two foot and say it is a temporary building. Our nebs parks his caravan in the yard and boy what I could do with a two boar and the...
Now that would be a pleasure.
Rite p ed Offski. Downloaded stuff as recommended buy our media reviewer, to find that the stupid player deleted it all. Waste of save, so the player has gone. Now, apart from TMS, BBC free.
No pleasure today as Lady Whack not here.0 -
52 weeks ago today, BoP was rushed to SPARRA hospital. The following day a pacemaker was fitted.
Thousands still walk around undiagnosed.

Evening all.
ampersand - I'm sorry to hear about your pergola. It sounded so nice as well.
PK - I hope you get the mortgage situation sorted asap.
katholicos and Kittikins - I'm glad you're both feeling better today.
I'm not feeling particularly pleasurable today as my foot's really sore again, but I'm sure I can find some things to list:
1) Managed to grab the microwave door just as my morning porridge was about to boil over, saving myself a nasty clean-up job.
2) A sunny, if very chilly, afternoon.
3) Treated myself to a mahoosive jp from 'the potato lady' in the city centre. I've never seen, let alone tried to eat, such an enormous potato!
4) Managing not to hit the eejit on a bike who came up the inside of my car as I was about to turn left - and then gave me a filthy look as if my car had suddenly appeared there!
5) I might have some soup and a bread roll for supper later, but I don't need a proper dinner as I'm still full of potato!
Have a good, warm evening, all.Back after a very long break!0 -
Sparrer - have been meaning to say you posted me a copy of the poem you recommended for McCulloch. I have just checked back through the posts and you sent it at 2.45am (she died after midnight) and it was very comforting especially as it was one of those nights when you think you are the only person awake in the whole world. P103 of the thread, I think.
Pleasures for today:
1) Not a bad sleep.
2) Woken early-ish by MrN's son 3 at the door who wanted me to go round and fix their phone. So I did.
3) Very quiet morning with sons watching television. They are now staying with their father. :-(
4) Chirpy letter from my solicitor saying she is "not surprised" ex husband is refusing to acknowledge her letters plus a copy of the most recent "powerful" letter she has sent him!
5) Busy after sons left! Have hoovered throughout, tidied, changed the bed, cleared the airing cupboard out etc.
6) Went into town and got the cupboard doors and the drawer fronts for my new kitchen units. Amused me that Howdens (where the cupboards came from originally) do trade only so they had to make me a trade account! Very pleased with the look of them (haven't managed to fit them yet).
7) Went swimming with my brother this evening.
8) Just done a pile of my sister's paperwork for her.
9) Looking forward to watching Holby City in bed later with a hwb or 2. Now waiting for MrN as I need to borrow his cat basket for the V-E-T tomorrow.0 -
Evening all
1. a lie in :j
2. took the kids to free craft session this morning, they made pirate hats and flags.
3. hot lunch of home made 'ready meal' sausage casserole leftovers from last week

5. roast pork with lots of cracking for tea :drool:0 -
The poem posted by Sparrer, well i have it on a card in my purse, since my darling Dad's funeral. Today is the 2nd memorial anniversary of his death. We were exceptionally close, breaks my heart to think of him. Sometimes i can, but most times it is still too, too painful. That probably sounds awful, but numbing the pain helps me cope with his loss and be here as much as i can for my mum and my dd and ds. The tablets help to numb it a lot too i guess, but mostly i use evasion as a means of coping.
VJsmum, i am getting over the dodgy tummy thanks. It happens to me this way every couple of weeks, it seems to have become a symptom of my illness, but worse things happen. And hey, we have to laugh don't we? When the alternative is wallowing/crying i would much rather laugh in the face of adversity. Adversity is a biatch ain't she!
Hope you got yourself some nice socks today
Rainy Days,
What an insightful saying, and so very apt. Thanks for posting it.
Ampersand,
So sorry about your lovely pergola. Some people have far too much time on their hands and are of such jealous and sly nature that they cannot bear for anyone to enjoy anything. A similar thing happened over my neighbours front porch...it was a coupl of inches bigger in height than the plans. It could not be a oided for some reason or other. How the hell some nasty minded neighbour discovered this i dont know....maybe they sneaked in his garden with a tapemeasure in the nightime hours? Ayway, the council looked into it and eventually he was allowed to keep the porch. Phew. Small minded, shrivelled-hearted people is what those kind of people are.
Chickenopolis,
What an !!! your works warden is. His ineptitude could/have proved disasterous if the practice had been for real. Hope to goodness he has your !!! covered from now on. Iykwim.
Kittikins,
So glad you are back to feeling more like yourself
BoP, thank goodness you were treated/operated upon in time. Gosh!
Rightio, my 5 for today...
1. As hard as it is to lose those we love, to have loved and been loved by them is a blessing that death can not touch or take away.
2. Being unable to be with mum today as too weak to go out, i had email and texting conversations with her, she misses my Dad so much, but like she wrote to me in an email, Dad LOVED life, and he would want us to go on getting the most we can out of life, enjoying all that life has to offer us.
3. Have filled a thermos with tea, milk, sugar and its by the bed. Left to my dd and ds i only had one cup of tea all day and nothing to eat. It isn't that they are cruel, but they are both wrapped up in their own little worlds. Anyway, the thermos is the way to go from now on i think. I did used to have a kettle in my room but didn't like the moisture it creates in my bedroom and i don't like powdered milk in my tea. Some days, worse days, I cant get downstairs to get fresh milk. Anyway, i now have my thermos
4. Ds got himself to work and back tonight.

Sorry to hear about your pergola ampersand and the nasty atmosphere such pettiness leaves. When we lived in cambridge they turned down our original application for an extension cos the wall would block out some of the neighbour's light despite the fact that he wanted it cos then he was going to create a sun lounge! Rules apparently is rules.
Hope the foot recovers soon ccp
Happy birthday jenny

Hello everyone, never posted on here before. 5 pleasures for today:
1 Caught up on Dancing on Ice.
2 Had cheese mash with sausage, fried onion and beans.
3 Had a big cwtch with my husband's dog, not the same as having a dog of my own but still lovely.
4 Saw my daughter and her three children
5 Finished the night with a drink and watched a couple of Mrs Brown's Boys from the boxed set. The latest ones seem to be funnier, but still had a laugh.0
