mcculloch I was so sad to read of your friend's passing, but perhaps this will help to put things in perspective a little, it's one of my favourite readings http://www.spirit-path.net/deathisnothing.htm
s
My friend knew that piece too and believed it totally.
It was read out at both my parents' funerals and is on the wall of my hallway.Erma Bombeck, American writer: "If I had my life to live over again... I would have burned the pink candle, sculptured like a rose, that melted in storage." Don't keep things 'for best' - that day never comes. Use them and enjoy them now.0 -
What on earth is veda? I'm guessing it's Northern Irish? Tayto too?0

Sparrer -:rotfl:re my typo "hooved" must be my horse DNA
PK - an extra £700 ? Not April 1st is it ?
Have a good day all !:AToo fat to be Felicity Kendal , but aim for a bit more of the good life :A0 -
Wednesday evening ...bit warm for me again....our one cool day was all we were getting obviously!
1. Lots of parrots
2. Work was alright I suppose! Out the door on time and enjoyed my breaks.
3. Son has now enrolled at university , because he is an international student it was a different process than his Australian pals.
4. Have changed mobile provider for kids phones , more Internet for less money and 10% discount when I use my reward card.
5. Nice tea ( take away ) with leftovers!
McCulloch I think the loss of a friend is a hard one. I lost 3 friends in 2 years to breast cancer, who were all ages with myself. They leave such a gap in your life. You will have lots of shared memories and the knowledge that you and your son spent some quality time with her. Take comfort in what you shared .The poem sparrer shared is one I keep next to a photo of my lovely dad x
Have a lovely Wednesday ....hope the sun shines for you and you get all your washing dry0 -
Morning all
Hope you are all well, Katholicos - glad you seem to be on the mend. Whilst you had my sympathy your pleasures the other day made me laugh (flushing loo, immodium) - it all comes down to basics in those situations doesn't it.
Chicken - your "hooved" also made me laugh. Were they cloven?
For yesterday
1. Good teaching session, even though for the first hour I couldn't seem to get my words out properly. Total brain fog, but coffee helped and I got through. Improved big time from there. It was a 3 hour session so it needed to.
2. Got away early. I have done so much work I was getting some time back while I could
3. DD forged some forms so she could sign DS into soccer school. You have to be 18, but though she is only 16 she looks older.Otherwise he would have had to miss it yesterday, as it was there were no questions asked.
4. Hanging out the washing in glorious sunshine. Not long till spring :T
5. I player for me too (not very OS I guess), it makes the chores so much more pleasant and I once again have a clean kitchen.
Day off today in lieu of the overtime. DD and I are going shopping. I am not a big shopper but it is nice to go occasionally - i want some new socks, you don't get much more an OS pleasure than thatI wanna be in the room where it happens0 -
1. An uninterrupted hours reading my book on the train.
2. A successful staff meeting.
3. Having a giggle with my supervisor on the shopfloor...we are getting on much better than we used to.
4. Looking forward to a day off tomorrow.
5. Big glass of ice cold lemonade in the staff meeting...paid for by work.0 -
To all those who have loved and lost:-
Many people will walk in and out of your life, but only a few will leave footprints in your heart.
Five for today:-
1. Had my hair done at the hairdressers usually go every three months or so for a trim.
2. Waiting for Autoglass to turn up - due 2pm - to fix a stone chip in my windscreen which happened at the weekend. This will be done for free!! Prayed very hard it would not split and it's been okay otherwise I would have had to pay out an excess for a new screen.
3. Got a letter from the council to say that we are due a credit on our council tax as we have paid too much!
4. Got the dog towels and bedding out on the line at the moment in the sunshine and cold breeze. Also have the front and back door mats in the machine which will dry quick as well.
5. Sun is shining!Cat, Dogs and the Horses are our fag and beer money:beer:

1. Bombshell letter NOT a pleasure. 'Anonymous' complainant has managed to hack some old Planning Law out and lovely pergola is to be removed within 14 days! Deeply apologetic lass who visited and took pics has been tasked with writing the unhappy letter. Have spoken with her, she sounds and feels really miserable about it and now it all starts with Planning. I know it will have to go - out back may be, but that's already £300 in labour and materials. L. is here today, and has read the letter in disbelief. No foundations mean no planning.
I am thinking about maybe using rope links between the 'tree' posts, as in many civic rose gardens...on verra. Diffusing this here = a 'pleasure' of sorts.
2. Went to timber place in Fens for 10' uprights and joists late afternoon yesterday and had hairy run back as they wouldn't stay still, even when roped. Had to re-tie 4 times, but unloaded back here by 19h.
3.Did early trailer run of rubbish to dump for neighbour and self.
4. Bought corolux sheets for outdoor covered work area on Pensioners' discount day@B&Q. The fixings and shaped foam supports cost as much as the sheets.
5. Set to and did big shifting and clearing of corner where sheltered working area is to be. L. has measured and dug for setting post supports in. Feel shabby about stating I feel numbed by no.1, compared with the losses, trials and ongoing illness of many here. But I do. Should be preparing for Spitalfields[lovely call from M this morning]and it is gloomy overcast chill, totally unhelpful weather for doing any sorting or feeling 'up' about things.

5 for today
1. Shoes in fridge day today Sparrer
2. Work confusing ..
3. Fire test at work - arrogant fire warden told me to move and shoooed me like an animal . Told him sharply that I have a Personal Emergency Evac. Plan as I can't do stairs and lifts are obviously out of action and as a warden he should know this. Pr*ck
4.Chicken pie for tea
5. OH has ordered the free sample for the pet deodorant thingy :money:
.The Spanish bank has sent me a renewal letter for my free travel insurance that comes with the account.
Have a good evening all !:AToo fat to be Felicity Kendal , but aim for a bit more of the good life :A0 -
Ampersand: Sorry about the pergola, seems like some people have nothing better to do!
Today both DH and I sat down and went through all of the mortgage payments and letters put it all into a spreadsheet it sounds a bit daft but it was very good to be able to see in black and white the clap trap they are talking about. We have overpaid by £30 not a lot but still it’s totally up to date.
We have decided to overpay by a month to make sure we are completely and totally in the clear, and continue paying contractual payments. After that I’m afraid I can see this going to court but feel in a very very good position as they are being ridiculous. We sat down made sure we are correct, and got all of the paperwork together. It’s scarey to put into black and white the clap trap they have but also puts our minds at rest, that it is indeed carp.:rotfl:
1.I feel more positive today, it’s like yesterday was a glitch.:)
2.My sunflower seeds are seeding, no sign of tomatoes or peppers yet thou!
3.I talked it over with DH and decided to recover for the next couple of days and aim to get back to work Monday, I feel a bit sad as we miss out on 2 weeks pay but both DH and I said as it was serious, it’s not worth risking it and getting worse again.
4.Made an vet appointment for Friday to get the last 3 rescue animals neutered, an expensive pass time but worth it, it makes them far nicer with less on their minds.:rotfl:
5. I was on my own to rest so while the kindle was charging, I went through the old sky movies and watched The good witches family, which was just harmless and lovely.:o
6. My exertion for the day 2 loads of washing done.
7. Tea is a bowl of pasta and mince, or will be when I dish it up in a mo.:p0
