This post isn't really going to be in keeping with the thread but I'm writing after one of the worst Saturdays I've ever had... I can't think of anything that went well, to be honest.

In the post came three solicitor's letters. One was a transcript of one of my previous court hearings and, reading it back, they might as well have circled the ex's answers with red pen and written "LIE!" next to them.
Then the 2nd letter was from the social worker of one of his new fiancee's children. She has 3 children, all "removed" from her care. The ex in court last time was playing "happy families" saying he and fiancee were going to get child 3 back (he's been gone 6 years....) Anyway, the social worker letter details why exactly child 3 was taken away (not happy reading) and that no one has EVER sought to get him back. So that was another lie to try and put him in a good light.
The third solicitor's letter is that I am being taken back to court next Thursday for not sticking to the court order. After he drove off with my sons from school despite my protestations and big son trying to get into my car, contact stopped for a fortnight. Despite it re-starting now, he is taking me to court anyway. :-(

This weekend has not been helped by my being ill, sinusitis, sore throat, ear ache etc. Its not serious but I'm hardly in good shape!

Then there is my Grandma. I went over to hospital to see her and I KNOW she's had a fall but I didn't expect her to look quite so bruised. Goodness knows what she fell on but she has a black eye, black face/head, cut inside her mouth, chip off bone off her hip... She keeps pulling all the drips out so they keep re-siting them and every place they put them leaves another massive bruise. They've put them in her wrist now. On Christmas Day, she was walking around, eating, talking normally to us. The only physical problem she has is a bit of arthritis in one shoulder. So I was quite shocked to see her lying completely flat, moaning with every single breath out, barely able to open her eyes, unable to talk or move. She has been like that for a week, not eating or drinking, not talking, absolutely no improvement at all.

I went to talk to the nurse in her office and she twittered "Oh, she's doing SO well, at 92, its marvellous!" I stared at her and told her that before she fell over, she was walking about, could go upstairs, hold a conversation and was basically a normal person. I don't think I really got through to the nurse. My sister was almost traumatised by the fact someone came to ask what Grandma wanted for tea. Tea?! She couldn't even answer the question, can't sit up and there is no way she could feed herself. I presume no one is there to actually feed her. The visiting hours are just stupid - 4-5pm which means I have to get child care, my sister is going to be at work during the week and the tea isn't served then (we would spoon feed her). It was all awful, Dad got upset later on (he NEVER gets upset) to the point where he just went to bed. Oh yes, and I was talking to the nurse and I said, "You do know she is blind?" and they didn't know!!!!

So no 5 for yesterday apart from we all sat in my bed to watch Casualty. And my sons made me breakfast in bed, which was a shock!

ACEY - oh my goodness, the biggest hugs to you this morning. Hope your brekkie in bed was lovely. x

    Morning all,

Not been at the PC much. Hope everyone is ok. Hello to newbies and to lurkers. :T

    1. Getting my "work" washing done. I hate it when I leave it till the last minute on Sunday and "cannot" understand why its not dry. Yey its washed. Another batch on. Just need to make this a habit to do on a Saturday next!

    2. Using up toiletries thread/challenge. I am now much more disciplined and its so good to see stocks dwindling. I've now spotted something on the John Lewis site which I would really really like and so I'm thinking that will be my next challenge, to save pennies for it ready for summer.

    3. Lots of bracing walks yesterday. Was tired by 7pm! Exhausted by 9pm!

    4. An (anticipated) bacon sandwich, mmmm.

    5. Decluttering the car yesterday. Cleared out quite a lot and found stuff that should have gone to a charity shop months ago!

Right off to have a bacon sarnie, cup of tea and have a quick bath - ooh look at the time, lazy mere! :D
:) Declutter 300 things in December challenge, 9/300. Clear the living room. Re-organize storage
:cool2: Cherryprint: "More stuff = more stuff to tidy up!"
Less things. Less stuff. More life.
 Fab thread: Long daily walks

Acey - I'm so sorry to read about your repulsive ex and the lies he's telling all and sundry, I hope he doesn't get away with it for much longer, surely something has got to stop him?!

Hugs for the granny situation, poor lady, I hope the medication and healing process help to perk her up very, very soon. xx

Keys - welcome to the thread, lovely to "meet" you, and like Ollie, I agree, if that was a lazy day, I shudder to think what a busy one would entail....

Right, must dash, am tending to poorly DD's every need, scrubbing the bathroom as it's repulsive, simultaneously spring cleaning my bedroom and will probably feel the effects later on my silly back. Oh well, at the moment I'm perky and motivated so will just keep the painkillers and crutches handy, lol.

ACEY I'm sure the others will agree with me that it doesn't have to be a 5 pleasures post, you felt you needed to share, vent and get it off your chest and knew where you'd feel comfortable doing it.

It's many years since I had some similar problems with my ex, but after having to travel from Worcs, where I was then living, to the High Court in London 13 times  the last judge threw out all ex's fantasies and granted no access, only maintenance. Ex blew again over that one, what he didn't realise is although I'd said I didn't want any (didn't want to be beholden to him or have the hassle of trying to get money I knew he wouldn't pay) at that time there was no such thing as NO maintenance, and it was set at 5p per year.

Anyway that's rather beside the point, just lets you know that in the end it will all turn out right for you and the DC. You're doing a great job now and everyone here will be rooting for you and wishing/praying for it to soon be settled so you can get on with your normal lives

Re your Grandma, it might be worth going to speak with the resident social workers...the reception will point you in the direction of their office.I've never heard of a geriatric or general ward having such short, anti-social visiting hours, might it not be worth asking if you can visit at other times as it's not convenient for you - or just turn up say at a meal time, that way you can see what's really going on. She's your Grandma but just a patient to them, I'd certainly try my best to find out about her 'care'.
    (((Hugs))) and God bless

  • ACEY sorry things are as they are for you, I'm so glad you have found a place to share and vent here. As sparrer says things will turn out right in the end for you and your dc, and you're doing everything you can to achieve that. Sorry about your grandma, it's awful for you to see her like that. It's good to hear you and your family are pitching in and fighting her corner. When my mum was in hospital last year we just stayed past the visiting hours and the nurses were fine, we just got a few evil looks from the other patients. sparrer's suggestion about the social workers sounds good, like anything with the NHS you have to get through to the right person to get anything done.

Well, it's been a busy couple of days again, and I'm now sat down thinking what to do next. Here are my pleasures of the day:

    1) A lay-in. Sunday mornings were made for it, and I cherish every single one of them.

    2) A leisurely baking session. There's nothing nicer than bimbling around the kitchen and making something tasty, then the soulbalm of loved ones enjoying what you've made.

    3) Finding 30p in town. And people wonder why I look to the ground instead of the sky.

    4) My sewing. It's really coming along nicely. That'll be another present done and dusted soon. I really must find a frame for the last one though...

    5) Receiving a voucher for a free coffee in the post. I do like it when that happens.

Hope everyone has a good day. Take care, all.

  • 1) I have managed not to kill hubby despite him spending hours looking a Tool !!!!!! in B & Q yesterday
    2) I have managed not to kill hubby despite him being like a cat on a hot tin roof today (he starts new job tomorrow.)
    3) Hubby is watching Rugby & shouting at the TV, instead of pacing the floor.
    4) Everything hubby needs tomorrow is ready, despite him pacing the floor & checking & re-checking everything.
    5) I've managed to make 25 mini crochet squares with odments of wool.

  • Cuddles in bed with numerous kitties this morning.

Eating sausage and HM rolls for brekkie.

The smell of Mr's HM bread in the kitchen (a loaf for the week).

Making houmous and veggie burger mix (lentil and stuffing one instead of falafels) for lunches next week and feeling proud of that.

Spending all weekend with DH and not having to be anywhere else.
    Put the kettle on. ;)
