Evening all,
Hope you are all well and enjoying the weekend.
Yesterday/ today
1) Overslept by an hour and a half but still managed to get to the office at 10.01 to join a conference call with our main boss.
2) Rushing all day which made the day fly by.
3) drove down to Newbury for a friend's 30th birthday. It wasn't quite my idea of a good party but she had a great night and that's what matters.
4) Had a root around Newbury's chariy shops, though I thought that they were rather expensive. I did buy new sallopettes for skiing though which were half price. I had to point that out to the sales assistant though. I wonder how many people would have just accepted the price? My youngest brother certainly would have!!
5) Afternoon sleep this afternoon... lovely!
6) Hopefully I have fixed the washing maching by cleaning out the filter. There was a key in there an loads of cat fluff... not sure what lock the key is for!! I have a load of washing on now so we'll see. (Edit - it worked!!! I am really chuffed with myself!!! and have saved the £25 callout fee for the plumber!) I am also going to have a bash at fixing the vacuum cleaner...
Have a fabulous evening all!
LMan plans and God laughs...Perhaps travel cannot prevent bigotry. But by demonstrating that all people cry, laugh, eat, worry and die, it introduces the idea that if we try to understand each other, we may even become friends.0 -
1. gardening all day
2.delicious HM soup for lunch
3.DH being home all day
4.the birds singing
5.they lovely weather today."The purpose of Life is to spread and create Happiness" :j0 -
Evening everyone - bit of a flying visit from me as the second half of the rugby's just started...
budgeteer - thanks for the biccy recipe. They sound lovely - I'll definitely be trying those soon!
sparrer - thanks for the suggestion on replacing the paddle in the BM. I'll try that next time rather than risking my fingers again. (I have now found the missing paddle, BTW, right in the middle of the loaf!)
ACEY - I'm really sorry your grandma's no better. I really hope she improves soon.
Right, my 5:
1) One from yesterday - my sister's got a new job! :j They offered it to her within an hour of the interview, so they obviously really liked her.
2) It's been another lovely day in Portsmouth so I got some washing out on the line.
3) I needed some writing paper so I mooched down to the shops rather than listening to the football on the radio. It would only have depressed me to listen anyway.
4) Had a sort-out of some books I don't want anymore: there's a 2nd hand bookshop up the road which is advertising for books to buy, so I might get a bit of money for them.
5) It's sausages for dinner, using a new recipe (well, it will be if the Jamie Oliver website starts working again - if not, I'll just have to do what I usually do and make it up!)
6) Planning a quiet night in with a glass of wine and a DVD. Not exciting, but rather nice anyway!
Have a good evening all!Back after a very long break!0 -
Hi all
Happy Saturday! Here are mine for the day:
1 - Invite in the post for a friend's 60th birthday in a really nice restaurant. This gave me the final push to --->
2 - ----> go to buy a dress that I had seen VERY reduced in the sales but was humming and harring about it, this was the final sign from God that I had to have it. I bought it and it fits beautifully.
3 - Met with a friend I hadn't seen for ages (since she got a job after a fair long period of gardening leave).
4 - Had curry with said friend and because she was feeling cabin fever (too much working, not enough outings and window-shopping trips) we "did" all the clothes shops in Blackheath, including the charity shops. No purchases but lots of fun, like old times (this is the friend who used to come with me to get freebies at Selfridges).
5 - After all the lovely window-shopping she invited me to a patisserie for tea and cake. YUMMY!
6 - Home, got leftover veg and rice from last night stir-fry, going to bang it all in a pressure cooker with a handful of red lentils, and voila dinner will be done, with a nice chunk of bread and fresh fruit for pudding (from today's fruit and veg organic box delivery).
Love to all xxxFinally I'm an OAP and can travel free (in London at least!).0 -

4. Had a nice day mooching as it's VERY foggy and spooky up here again today.
Love being at home with my boys.
5. ordered a few beads online to make some moe earrings.

Evening everyone
Thanks, this crocheting is addictive.
Mine for today:
1 Got a bit of a lie in which I needed as not feeling right today.
2 Found breadmaker instructions on line and apparently I have been putting ingredients in the wrong order so trying again in right order so house smells of fresh bread. Cant wait to see if this produces a better loaf!
3 Finally got round to giving my friend 2 receipes that she has been asking for, for ages. She is making them now!!
4 Had a afternoon nap.
5 Am crocheting tonight. Didnt last night and bit off another nail which is sore - that'll learn me!!!!!!! So making a pink sparkly teddy for my neices 1st birthday in a few weeks. Thats plan A! :rotfl:
Have a lovely evening everyone0 -
Hi all, thanks for all the well wishes. I'm doing ok today (been very up and down though).
Ancestry is definitely an addictive website - think it's worse than MSE!! Done some of my tree - no royalty in our family: gardeners, newspaper vendors, maids, laundry assistants, bus drivers, agricultural labourers.... at least I don't feel like I'm letting my ancestors down!!
Anyway. Hugs to all that need them.
Acey - I know it's tough but make sure you see your gran. I chickened out of seeing my gran as I couldn't cope with seeing her weak when she was always so healthy and strong - and I regret it so much now she's not here anymoreSo hang in there even if it seems tough - coz the guilt I have isn't good
Well here's mine:
1. Making Hairy crumpets - well hairy biker crumpets. Took ages but was quite theraputic and received mixed reactions. But at least I know how crumpets are made
2. Stepson offering to help cooking lunch, and dinner, and baking brownies too (rare occurrence but school cooking lessons seem to rekindled his interest in what goes on in the kitchen, rather than just what comes out of the kitchen onto the table :rotfl:)
3. Feeling content with life just at the minute.
4. A couple of NSD's because of baking bread and making crumpets.
5. Being able to offer to look after mum's cats while she's away looking after my nephews for a long weekend - would have been harder to do if I was working but since I'm still officially employed at that time, I can't start any new job anyway
6. Going to see mum and getting a large box of craft and art books that I can put on ebay (most are completely unused and not a wise purchase at all).
7. 5 weeks paid holidayworking on clearing the clutterDo I want the stuff or the space?0 -
ACEY I'm sorry your grandma isn't feeling better, perhaps it's hit her hard as she appears to be a very independent person
Mine for today:
1) tea and toast in bed
2) dd's playdate let her down so went to Sainsbury's for lunch, me and dp all day breakfasts, dd packed lunch her favourite
3) cleaning kitchen cupboard doors with Stephen Leak's Stardrops mix which is brilliant and so cheap! Wear Marigolds if you try this as people have reported having a skin reaction although Stardrops says kind to hands
4) Hairy Bikers Mums Know Best 'show-off dishes' (again) on the iplayer. Loving the butler from Thornbury Castle, and the Bikers having dinner in the French and Russian manners
5) dp brought hot cross buns for today and croissants for brekkie tomorrow!
dd having (another) evening not staying in bed, third time she's come down the stairs already. We have a list of privileges she loses each time she comes down, sometimes it works, sometimes not. Tonight's one of the 'not' nights..."We have to be kind because everyone is fighting a great, great battle" - Sir Richard Attenborough
"There is a special place in hell for women who don't help other women" - Madeleine Albright0 -
Bit of a gloomy day but here goes:-
1. Making leek and potato soup with leeks from Aldi's super six.
2. Supermarket shopping and another visit to Aldi and some more super six veg.
3. Making bread - two large loaves and a dozen rolls.
4. Making yogurt.
Only four and if it all sounds like hard work - it was. I suppose -
5. The day is over and the work is done.
Bella.A man's life consisteth not in the abundance of things which he possesseth. Luke 12 v 150 -
Hugs Bella, hope tomorrow is a happier day for you x
DD is poorly, so today has been a quietish one for us, with the same planned for tomorrow.
1. Cuddles with DD, she needed them and is tucked up in my bed again with a selection of cuddly toys tonight. Hope there's space for me!!
2. A lovely freecycler giving me 2 demijohns so I'm set for making sloe gin again this autumn, health permitting.
3. Cheap green beans at the market, DD had some for dinner, the rest have been blanched and frozen for another day, 5 more meals worth for her.
4. Pottery painting this afternoon, can't wait to see it when it's fired. And it was half price, so even better
5. 20% off day at MandM - bought DD a lovely top she chose, and me a skirt and t-shirt for my slimmer summer. Might take back yesterday's purchase now as this is even nicer and is a whole outfit!
6. DD ate like a horse today but has leftover dinner for another meal, yay, no cooking for me tomorrow
7. Lost 2lb0
