Five for me. While it has ultimately been a rubbish week, I am concentrating on picking out the good bits. Here goes:
1) Finding a penny yesterday. Every little helps, eh?
2) The look on my colleagues face when I told them how much money I save per year on eggs by switching from supermarket to market shopping.(I buy 6 eggs per week. Supermarket = £1.55 for 6, Market = 75p for 6, free range. Works out to £40 ish per year :A)
3) Having bought some of my Christmas and birthday presents already.
4) Beating my fizzy cola addiction! Although I feel I'm developing a tea addiction in it's place
5) It's Friday!
What a manic week! I honestly don't know if I've been coming or going this week. Plus, the alarm clock decided to pick up the wrong time (its satellite updated) and woke me up at 5:00am instead of 5:30am. Perhaps a coffee today, methinks. Anyway, hope everyone has a lovely day.

Mr Lahey GOOD LUCK great pic.
Morning everyone, my 5 for today.:j
1. Friend coming for lunch, doing those cream cheese and ginger sarnies i had at another friends house at the begining of the week. Have made mushroom soup and french onion soup. Lemon driz and ginger cake. So all set.:D
2. Started One Foot in the Grave last night. I got the box set from find dvd. I've been picking up alot of reduced dvd boxsets over this last few months. Waiting at the moment fro Dads Army to reduce to under £20. Love tv while in bed. Bliss.:money:
3. Smell of home baked bread.
4. Acey you'll like this one. Son saying how horrible his Dad was, when he called around to his house on his way home from school. Ds said he felt very unwelcome. Then went on to say how lucky he is to have a Mum like me.I tend not to say anything bad about the x in ds earshot, so he is finding out what he's like by himself. The best way i think.
5. All washing and ironing up to date.
Have a great os day, hugs to all who need them, special hug to Ollie for her fab posts :A .0 -
Morning,
Mine for yesterday,
1. Resisting the temptation to get takeaway. Thursday is always a bit manic and it is so easy to resort to takeaway but resisted the urge and threw a quick dinner together.
2. Good meeting at work where we got lots of issues sorted out plus really felt like I had something to contribute to the meeting which is good as have felt quite unsettled in new role.
3. Finding out a friend is getting married this year and being able to offer some suggestions as to how to do some things a bit cheaper. Managed to get 100 invitations printed for her for under £10 she was most impressed.
4. Lovely left over beef casserole for lunch, it tasted even nicer than 1st time round plus made everyone in the office hungry as the smell wafted around.
5. Walking home from work. This is my time to just think without any interuptions so glad work have decided not to move the office as would really miss not being able to walk from work.
Mr Lahey - what a great experience for you and your kids, I have voted for you as well.
Hester - Hope you have a better day, some kids are unbelievable in their attitude
Hugs to all who need them0 -
Morning all!
Here's my five from yesterday:
1) A blackbird singing it's heart out outside my bathroom window when I got up - I just love blackbird song.
2) Picking lunch to take to work from my selection of HM ready meals in the freezer. I'm loving having meals there when I want them, and really wonder why I haven't done it before.
3) Got a pack of whoopsied free-range bacon from Tesco so I could have a bacon sandwich after my evening class.
4) My sister telling me that she's got another interview today - that's two in one day, so fingers crossed one of them will work out for her.
5) A nice evening class-mate offering me a doughnut to go with my breaktime coffee when I mentioned how hungry I was.
Have a good day, everyone.Back after a very long break!0 -
Just voted for Mr Lahey and family.
My 5 for yesterday:
1. Good evening in the pub with my brother, his grilfriend and our friends.
2. Delicious chickpea and mushroom curry, cooked in the slow cooker. I love my slow cooker!
3. Chatting online to some possible guys from an online dating site.
4. Relaxing day at home, enjoying my first full day with my lovely new foster cats.
5. Reading more great online fiction.Life is not a dress rehearsal.0 -
5 for Thursday.
1) Doing all the paperwork my sister wanted. Only took a couple of hours once I got going.
2) Got all college work in order, hole punched etc. It has to be handed in next week for assessment...
3) Usual tidying, washing etc all up to date.
4) BIGGER SON'S BLUE PETER BADGE ARRIVED!!! Hoorah! They are having them "presented" to them in assembly today.
5) Popped down to mum and dad's briefly to drop my sisters paperwork off (as mum and dad were going to her house for tea).
6) Registered for a free British Gas swim. Although we have a season ticket for a local pool, boys will get a free swim in the local Seb Coe place.
7) Finally got little son's massive form filled in to send back to the paediatrician so that's got the ball rolling.
8) Got bigger son to do his homework before the weekend again (its always due in on a Monday). We have a few arguments about it every week...
9) Bigger son and me sat in my bed to watch Holby City on iplayer.
10) Several phone calls from my sister and I think she is beginning to "see the light" about her ex boyfriend. They split up two years ago (!) and she still waits for his phone calls etc and she is starting to see him for the rather selfish gentleman he is, constantly keeping her on the back burner...

Morning everybody :hello: - very dull and miserable morning here today. Very busy day yesterday - so will continue from where I left off and catch up again later in the day.
mirrorimage - welcome mirrorimage  nice to see you! wd on your payrise - precious few of those around at the moment :j.
house elf - what a lovely TA you've got - great to have an appreciative work colleague
Ladyhawk - wtg on your high achievers day for work and good to hear that Toupe is recovering well. Great news about you not having to report to a Line Manager during the maternity leave - you'll get your work recognised properly now
.
jollymummy - Good Luck with your Health Trainer and hope your back problem eases enough for you to be painfree soon. wd to your DS with his reading- and what lovely birthday pressies
.
mineallmine - good one there about Liverpool - I heartily agree - the lads are breaking all our hearts atthe moment. I'm also a Rugby League fan - support St.Helens and they were a pain in the rear last season too. Hoping this season will be much better.
sparrer - so your scheme was a little bigger than mine - poor you. I lost my Deputy when we started the move - I was running three sites for six months, with people moving house and trying to settle in to brand new homes (gas/electric/water registrations to be done), trying to get to know new tenants and they took my Deputy off me, leaving me doing 5-day week cover - it was NOT a good time! Oh dear about the 'shed fund' but like you say - 'you can't live IN a shed', but you do need a dining table/chairs. wd on the bread baking and on keeping in touch with your friend in China.
bunny too - wtg on your tv magically working again :j - what a relief! Enjoy the company of your tail-wagger. Such a shame for your son to have to discover what his father is REALLY like for himself - but better than hearing you telling him nasty tales. wd you on being restrained so far
.
savingforoz - welcome to Penny and Gizmo - I'm sure they'll enjoy their temporary stay at Auntie Oz's house. Best of luck with the on-line-dating site - you go girl :j.
Caterina - awwwww have you now lost the pink fringe - now wondering if DH has noticed.
bella - ooooo you've noticed snowdrops as well - never see anything like that around here - need to get out and about more.
budgeteer - sounds like a productive day to me - needlework, cake AND crochet. Do you have a recipe for your Rich Cookies please - sound lovely. love the phrase 'money-runs' sounds like my DD as well
.
nuttybabe - lol at your green, purple and orange glittery 'fashion statement'. wd to your DD on having a go at the Bolognese :T.
GirlySquare - wtg on your Tesco Clubcard points - great way of using them :j.
Mr Lahey - Thanks for the linkyand good luck to you all :T.
LittleMissHappy - well done and good luck with your 'family growing.
zarazara - wtg on sticking to your list and budget :j
Hardup Hester - what a nasty little bltch - bet you're glad the week's almost over! Enjoy your weekend - you deserve a couple of days free of that lunatic asylum that passes for a school!!
Kittikins - wd on your weightlose! But will you stop picking up those babies - don't want you caving in to broody feelings after all shedding all those lbs! One of the drawbacks to buying second-hand books isn't it
- my favourite charity shop won't put books on sale if they smell of stale ciggie-smoke.
ginnyknit - well done on enjoying your new life-style - has to be more rewarding than the regular 'rat-race'. Good luck with the 'baby-shower' AND your 'new girls'.
Kitchenbunny - wd on beating your coca-cola addiction - caffeine is a tough one to get rid of - I had headaches on withdrawal. wtg on pointing out the financial rewards of market shopping for eggs :T.
Tealady - great how casserole-style meals always taste better second-time-round after all those flavours have had time to develop/mingle !
CCP - What a lovely start to the day - a blackbird singing outside. Good Luck to your sister with the interview.
ACEY - wd to your DS on his Blue Peter Badge arriving. Your poor sister - but at least the penny has finally dropped about what this guy is really like - oh the memory of waiting expectantly for phone-calls that don't materialise.
Will have to post my pleasures later - time for work - speak again later - love Ollie xxx0 -
Morning all,
Struggling a bit.
1. Am redundant, at least now I know where I am.
2. Got "gardening leave" so will save on petrol and can concentrate on baking and job hunting.
3. Taking OH down to an old fashioned diy tool shop in town and him getting the bit he needed that he didn't believe he would get- plus it only cost £2
4. Black treacle and raisin flapjack - incredibly sweet but cuts the chocolate craving.
5. Having lunch up town with OH yesterday and it only costing £9 - cornish pasty, sarnie and a drink.
6. This thread reminding me of the things we should be thankful that we have.working on clearing the clutterDo I want the stuff or the space?0 -
Morning (oops afternoon) all  - so busy the last couple of days!
Wednesday
1. Managed to help a work colleague sort out some work stuff that she hadn't been sent - think we got it sussed between the two of us.
2. Baked two cakes for a meeting on Thursday - the now infamous Lemon Drizzle and Gingerbread ones.
3. Evening meal of Savoury Minced Lamb - not really enough of it, so stuck a pastry crust on the top of the Pyrex Dish and served with steamed (whoopsied to 10p) cabbage/leeks - OH very impressed with the pastry lol.
4. Signed up with Ancestry for some Family Research - oh dear, this looks like taking up way tooooooooo much of my time - very addictive! Immediately linked up with my dad's cousin's son who is also registered and working on HIS family tree - so we've managed to join two trees up straight away. I had a photo of HIS Nanna as a young woman that he'd never seen before, so he's highly delighted.
5. Very drained by the end of the day and hadn't noticed the time flying by as I dug deep into 'the old grey cells' for names/places/dates that I'd thought were gone forever - so rewarding and lovely feeling of 'being connected' as I went to bed (at 2.30am )
Thursday
1. My meeting was cancelled - so had to freeze my cakes to stop us from eating them - now stashed until Tuesday (meeting re-arranged for then).
3. Booked onto a local 'Open Day' for carers and those who work in a 'care environment' for March - looks very interesting and means a rare opportunity to mix with other Staff/Colleagues.
4. Managed to make contact with a new tenant who's moving in very soon - she needed some help getting a problem sorted, so went straight into 'Super Scheme Manager Mode' and earned myself some Brownie Points before I even meet the lady :j.
5. Finally completely finished my Lily of the Valley Bookmark - not sure whether to use it myself, or to put it away as a pressie for somebody - decisions, decisions! Now got to find another piece of needlework to do - fancy making a couple of Needle Cases this time - got lots of embroidery threads to use up AND some pieces of aida fabric - should be able to design something myself by now.
6. Visit from DS2 with his lovely g/f and dgs3 (the whirling dervish known as Billy-Blue-Eyes). Lovely g/f had just passed her driving test at the first attempt - clever girl :j! She had driven to my house along the motorway (only two junctions and it was quiet at the time).
That's all from me for now. I'll pop back in again later for a look-see at what you're all up to today - love Ollie xxx0
