Apologies for absence. The turds did indeed hit the fan big stylee this week. Did i ever tell you all how uncouth i am?

    Well i am...

I will scroll back a few pages to play catchup when this is posted so i can find out how you all are and what you have all been up to.

    My 5 for today:

    1. Put off purchasing a load of junk online and went to a local shop to see what they had. Should keep DS happy for the week. I tried to buy as much carbohydrate as possible for the least money. So lots of cereals,, crisps, nibbles and stuff like that. I am so fed up of him saying ' is there anything else to eat?'. He has lots of proper food but like a typical 17 year old, he is permanently hungry. Got stuff from local shop much cheaper than online order would have been.

    2. Made a soup last night in slow cooker (using the veg water from previous days cooked veg), added lentils, celery, some sweet cherry tomatoes and sweet pepper and whizzed it up. The kids have had some for their tea tonight. I might have some in a little while.

    3. Saw mum today and gave her some dry dog food as she would have run out over the weekend and her pooches would not have been very happy with that :woofwoof:

    4. Slobbery wuffy cuddles with clutzy collie who seems to think i need poking in the eye with her paw as a sign of affection. Bless.

    5. Today i took delivery of a piece of kitchen equipment i have wanted/needed for a while. my cooker doesn't work so cant use the oven of it or the hob of course, well ive been using an electric wok for many meals but it has been used so much the teflon is coming off it so today my new electric multi cooker/frying pan thing was delivered. Haven't used it yet, but am palpably excited by it. Doesn't take much these days...

Hope you all have a good weekend. Rightio, off to catch up...

  • I couldn’t post up pleasures yesterday but could lurk and read, the lergy thats just been hanging around for ages has turned into some flu type bronchial thing, I'm hoping it will go away now it's actually hit, seems to have been about ages:mad: I always seem to get something in Feb I don’t know why but without fail.:o

Tried for one of those valentines boxes yesterday but no joy, did anyone else have success?

    1. The sofa and a fleece is very comfortable.:D
    2. Lovely animals playing around me and one cuddled up on me whilst asleep:)
    3. DH hasn’t lost a day as he’s out building and fixing things in the garage for the day, in other words in his element.:rotfl:
    4. It’s very unlikely that dh will turn his hand to cooking tonight so I suspect a chinese takeaway later, some chow mein i reckon :p

    5. For some bizarre reason while I am lergied DH and I decided to book in several long weekends at steam fairs during the year, nice to look forward to.
    6. A NPD.
  • Good evening all !

VJsmum and PK - yep I did get the valentines box thing ( I hope) It said it takes credit cards but only have a debit card - it took the payment ( we shall wait and see if it arrives ) £ 2.99- he is worth every penny :rotfl:

PK -thank you I did get the book . I love it ! Hope you feel better soon xxx

Katholicos - hope the dark stuff has stopped hitting the fan x

Skintos - naughty naughty but I like your style ;) I think brother Frith has a beard though.. so I will gallantly step aside for you ;)

    5 for today

    1. I woke up really early - it was so quiet no rumbling of the central heating the sound of a bird twittering sweetly... and of course my gobby hen who hears any slight noise made by a human such as a loo flushing, a cough ...you name it and it starts to shout and it doesn't stop until it gets let out!

    2. Reading the book recommended by PK

3.Gobby hen given some rice by my Mum and was actually shaking with excitement . Stephen the Seagull came down to nick a samosa and she puffed up her tiny red body like a pine cone and flew for him. I miss all this garden action when I am at work !

    4. Watching a repeat (obviously :o) of Inspector Morse . John Thaw looks so much like my late father that I am transfixed every time .Sad but happy iyswim

5.Beef (yes REAL BEEF can you imagine it !!!) casserole made in slow cooker with mashed spuds , cheese and leeks.

    Have good evening all !

    1. Very kind friend fixed my windscreen wipers, saving me £250 the elec's place wanted
    2. He refused any money but when chatting he let slip that they're expecting their first baby in the Summer, so I will buy something for him/her
    3. More freecycling, gave a pair of curtains and received some gardening bits - what else? ;)
    4. Chatting with DS as he was finding his way through Newcastle, hope he manages to get back to Preston tomorrow as the forecast is pretty grim for that region
    5. Going to DD's 40th party this evening. Trying to find the enthusiasm to go and get ready but I'm comfy, warm and watching AT's British Isles:A Natural History, and thoroughly enjoying it

    Have a good evening :)

    Evening all.

After a couple of days away feeling rather down and sans pleasures, it's time to make an effort to start thinking of reasons to be cheerful again:

    1) Long, long lie-in this morning: I kept waking up then being lulled back to sleep by the sound of rain pattering on the windows - by the time I woke up properly it was nearly lunchtime. :o

    2) Sausage sarnie for lunch, using up some LO sausages from last night's dinner.

    3) NSD and NPD.

    4) Essay is (finally) about three-quarters finished. It's not going to be my best bit of writing ever, but I'm finding this course so dull that every step closer to the end is a real pleasure.

    5) Made some dumplings for tonight's casserole from a box of stuffing mix I bought from AF and found at the first mouthful wasn't to my taste. Hopefully it'll be better in dumpling form.

Hugs to all in need, and have a good evening, all. :)
Back after a very long break!

Quick Saturday pleasures as I'm now on Sunday :

I was up early, chatted to my friend for 2 hours on the phone and then pottered around whilst everyone else was a lazybones !

We were too late for a Saturday scone so we all went out for lunch which was nice .

    Shopping came in under budget.

Defrosted fridge!!! A huge block of ice was on the back wall of fridge... I have it to my lemon tree to quickly melt in the heat!

Pot luck for tea..... Help yourselves family , your mammy is having a snooze on sofa!

Watched 2.5 episodes of Holby on my phone screen , I am changing to a new phone provider and needed to use up a lot of Internet which I can't tether as a hotspot so I enjoyed that!

Handed a bag of stuff into charity shop and oooops just had a wee look and came out with a cardi ( you know for when it gets a bit cooler) a top and a top for DD 2. They were half price. Our shop does a rotational coloured price tag. So when it's been in shop for 1
month it's then reduced to half price and then moved on to another store if it doesn't sell.

Friend from Sydney phoned so had a nice chat with her.

mcculloch that song was beautiful and I sent the link to my sister who is a ' folkie'

How's the jigsaw & ? If you're good i'll post my archers poem. Actually even if you're bad i'll post it (though not tonight) :rotfl:
Quick 5 cos just about to watch the france match on ipad
    1) the mattress is super duper though a wee bit edgar alan poe cos it's twice the thickness so the ceiling is noticeably lower when lying on the bed
    2) walked down to station with oh and dd2. Then bought hot drinks and remembered not only my pumpkin card (20% off) but also my 4 stamps and your fifth is free :-)
    3) very full train but dd had booked seats. Then we all disgorged at haymarket. Dd1 met us at haymarket and Oh bought me a nessie hat :-) the nessie is orange with pink sequins on the top of her head for eyes. Hmm. Made in china. I guess not many chinese people have seen the real nessie so dont know what she looks like
    4) scotland beat italy 38 10 woooo. And we were right near the touch line.
    5) our train tickets home were east coast only so couldnt catch the train we'd been aiming for. It was chocker so having cursed the break up of BR we were then quite pleased when the east coast train (20 mins later) was only half full and made less stops so didnt get in much after the previous one.
