5 OS Pleasures in your Day Today part 2

1. Spinach and feta stuffed turkey breast for dinner-easy and delicious and the stuffing stayed inside which is always a bonus :T
2. Clearing out the office, it's been the drop off place for everything whilst the other rooms have been getting sorted and was in dire need of a sort through, I've really missed having a proper place to work.
3. NSD
4. Caught up on death in paradise.
5. OH has had an amazing job offer but it would mean total upheaval and a change of lifestyle that we hadn't ever considered but it is such a brilliant opportunity-we shall have to do some thinking!Comper, Blogger & OS-erCompetition prizes: £6/£20150 -
Here we go -
1. This . It is the late John Wright, the best voice I have ever heard live, singing Beth Nielsen Chapman's achingly poignant "Sand and Water".
John died five years ago today, just five weeks after his marriage to lovely Barbara. Barbara's put this video up on the index page of John's website.
I live in hope that John will be fully discovered posthumously, as Eva Cassidy was. He was a regular guest at our live music club. A Mancunian, he moved to Teesdale in County Durham a year before his death, and how glad we were to see more of him.
2. Out on the trike shopping, and this time, not collapsing into cat-nap sleep, exhausted, on getting home.
No wind to battle, trike's gears more or less behaved and everything I wanted from A!di was in stock. Including yummy salt and vinegar rice cakes, one more thing I don't have to pay exorbitant Mr T. prices for.
3. DS is better daily. For several years now he hasn't helped around the house at all, other than doing some of his own washing and ironing and the odd bit of cooking for himself. Some time ago he indicated this would change, as I can no longer do decorating or gardening (or afford to pay people to do it a.t.m.) Then he split up with GF and plunged into the latest struggle.
I need some weeding doing and I'm hopeful he will see it as good exercise on his day off tomorrow... I can but hope!
4. Quick catch up chat with an old friend whilst shopping - her son was under threat of redundancy, but has been told his care sector job is safe for another year. Huge relief as his second daughter was born in November last year.
5. Amazon are sending me some Sugru to review for free. I have a dozen wee repair jobs to do, that this will be so useful for.Erma Bombeck, American writer: "If I had my life to live over again... I would have burned the pink candle, sculptured like a rose, that melted in storage." Don't keep things 'for best' - that day never comes. Use them and enjoy them now.0 -
Best wishes to you for improving times,Katholikos
Purple kitten, please can you say what the Evening Primrose is helping with? It might be something I've got! But feel free not to if you prefer.
I've not got the MSE email, dk why, what happens at 2.30 tomorrow?!
Thanks for the song mcculloch, hadn't heard it before, it's beautiful. Hope your DS continues on the up.
So:- Choc stash still undiscovered and going strong... (eating it now, hence #1!)
- good chat with friend after work, so glad to have found time to catch up
- DSs doing homework without being told to! Amazing!
- Yummy supper, cold weather hotpot from BBC good food website, went down a storm with all ages
- lovely feedback from a client, doesn't happen that often and much appreciated

Well hurrah for Friday , my working week is over...thank goodness! However another weeks wages earned towards juniors uni fees!
Nice day here, washing dried in no time. I put it on in morning and DD 1 hangs it out before school then if necessary another load on when I get in from work!
Have trialled 2 new young pups to start working with us. They seem nice enough , semester starts in 3 weeks so madness will return!
Gas bill came in and quite reasonable. ( saying that we were on holiday for two weeks)
Glad I bought petrol last night when it was 17cents(10p) cheaper than today. Prices jump up and down throughout the week so it's a case of guessing when!
Have had no fizzy drinks in a week. Was absolutely guzzling diet coke especially on holiday so bit the bullet and stopped. Headache for Horst few days shows the caffeine addiction ....drinking copious amounts of water instead:)
Have had no chocolate in a week either! I will not go up a dress size!
Think that's my pleasures.. Living very quietly at the moment.
Enjoy your Friday ... It's almost the weekend0 -
A wee extra pleasure: just been out for dinner with my son and had a lovely pleasant chatty meal. He finished his summer job today so a week or so of longish lie ins is the plan!0

Sod it! - long post's just disappeared again and no more time now.
Starting and stopping at -
1.therefore. Just remembered bathwater in time!
2. Had fetched Ambridge jigsaw to describe: circular. 19" diameter. 'An enchanting design by John Stubbs. Inspired by the popular BBC radio series The Archers'. Rather cod village twee, I'd say. Bordered by hedgerow garland showing [labelled]seasonal change.
3.Sight of near-complete pergola on rtn after midnight. I'm really thrilled. Must phone L. We need a bit more timber, says his note. Good excuse to head out to timber man again. Will I end up with more lumps of ancient oak?
4. Porridge-y brekkie earlier - with water, sultanas and it didn't boil over in m/w, one of Life's nastier kitchen messes. Was losing voice by end of yesterday and horrid sodden re-loading in heavy driving rain. Long haul, but did it. Felt sth coming on a day or 2 back - it's here now. Head, nose, throat - rough and mis. Porridge felt like The Answer.
5. Some banking to do after dreadful start. Royal Doulton Valentine's Day plate breakage - all my own work. One £25 sale by 14h, then a day-saving one and things changed.
6. 'Fat lady sings' wisdom comes to mind as ladies' cricket commentary continues on 5live extra. Eng. vs Oz.
So, I have proceeded to 5 again après tout - nothing like earlier writing though.
katholicos - (((((((((((Mother Julian of Norwich for you today))))))))))).
Thankyou, McCulloch, for John Wright and continuing picking-self-up's to son. The heart hurt thing floors us at any age. Good for him helping and, as we all do know, physical work does bring its own healing.
mhagster - we are fellows on your OH watch. I'm staying well away while feeling like this, never fear:-)
frith - we see that change every day via your posts...over the last few months since Departure of last Mr especially.
sparrer - a number of dittos chez moi, or versions of. Well done on your rtc's. even though I share the 'freezer's already stuffed' thaaainng.
old tractor - agree re:butter and am glad I don't buy the sorts of things now featuring strongly under heading:HORSE, not even rtc. Thinking increasingly HFW and w8rose. I buy bifteck hâch e-acute-e- in France, bien sûr. In every place, likely and unlikely, one chooses the piece of meat, watches it ground up and pacKed into nice little shape. There's engagement, pleasure, anticipation and very likely follow-up question from butcher during next visit, even in grands surfaces.
vjm - Intend avoiding need[it's HA squat these days - plenty of reasons/clues in prev.posts] for any planning anything, by not needing foundations. Coachbolt construction on blocks will do, with 20cm pebble surround and old engline oil. Keeps 4-foots away, says neighbour's trusted bro. He can't do my work any more - mid 70s and heart probs, but knows much. Introduced L the other day, deliberately, so he can take these things on board too.
Ah, adding a no.7. Say you are surprised:-)
7. Thought the other day to suggest saving a cleaned out milk plastic for next wk, Shrove Tuesday. Put your pancake ingredients in one, shake about. Should give excellent results and easy subsequent pour/cook.
Away to bathe now. Enjoy good ends of week, if old tgif applies.CAP[UK]for FREE EXPERT DEBT &BUDGET HELP:

Morning
Mcculloch - Glad to hear son is improving and hope it continues.
Pleasures for yesterday,
1. Some Clubcard vouchers from Mr.T arrived in the post. Need to plan the spending of these carefully as know will not be nearly as many from now on as have not been using Mr.T for shopping so will just get the credit card ones and points from Bzz. Am thinking afternoon tea in a very posh London Hotel for me and DD.
2. In the post also got a box of Maggi cook in the bag mixes to try for Bzz. Gave a couple of friends at work one each to try and will try one in the meal plan next week.
3. Free Jacket Potato with Chilli and Cheese for lunch left over from a meeting. Very yummy and was naughtily followed by a small portion of trifle, mmmmm
4. Enjoyed the walk home from work which blew the cobwebs away after being stuck in the office all day.
5. Easy and very cheap dinner of Ravioli cooked in a HM vegetable soup with garlic bread.
Hugs to all who need them0 -
Good afternoon all
PK - would love to know the name of that free kindle book please about the smallholding ?? x
VJsmum = Feeder
tealady - I am with the Bzz thing too . It certainly boosted my Mr. T points !
5 for today
1. Shopping . Hen food has gone up by £1 a sack since August ! Will bump it up with the corn my uncle bought over at the weekend Got a couple of sacks as its quite a long drive there and back.
2. Spent less than £30 in Mr. M . Told OH we are on a fixed amount to spend on food shopping per month and when its gone its gone (just to see if he can stick to it) . I have never known a man love shopping as much as him , but he can't be trusted as he will fill the trolley up with expensive carp . Although the steak was rtc and lovely last night !:rotfl:
3.Mum let the hens out of their run when we were out - they are enjoying the sunshine as its a lovely clear bright day here .
4.About to see if I can order one of those valentines offers:money:Frith - if I wasn't already attached I would send one to your brother - he sounds luvverly !
5. Day off of course . The best one !
Have a lovely day all !:AToo fat to be Felicity Kendal , but aim for a bit more of the good life :A0 -
