    Continuing:
2.Have just put 'phone down with NatWest Mike, also Bus Pass vintage. 'We don't get much praise from Martin Lewis' said he. 'You'll get it there from me' I've just said. In October, I had an email re:NatWest e-savings a/c. I'd just started @ Spits. Tried and failed to open a/c. Into Branch, asked advice, tried again, failed, into Branch, asked if we could open it there, 'No', tried again, failed etc.etc...ff to last month. Live chat online was not tailored to anything helpful, was actually very frustrating. Mentioned this again. 'We can do it for you, said William[not daylighting<Archers]. 'Was told you couldn't' said I. We sorted it then and there although the invitation interest rate period had expired. I've since had further help from sweet young Amy in Branch. She has same a/c and has explained how she finesses things for max. interest. I even asked yesterday if it was possible to check what £25 'Compensation' deposit was - meant nothing to me. William had said he'd forward my experience as a complaint, wrote it up, read it back to me and asked if his version was fair. I was taken aback, said 'please don't say complaint' but agreed with his summary and really thought nothing more of it. In the last fortnight, I've had 2 bread and butter letters, one including name of my 'dedicated' investigator and a txt msg confirming this...all taken with pinch of salt, I must say. Today, a further one, apologising for the time it's taking to look into the matter and another point-by-point reply signed by Kate, awarding me a higher interest rate for a year, a year's worth of interest plus a further £25 goodwill for misleading info. in Branch! The whole is worth over £100! I am amazed and gratified and again so thankful that my little Branch of NatWest is my little Branch with people I know by name, even when it involves rare England rugby triumph gloating:p Every Bank has its nightmare tales and until now, with NatWest, it's all I'd ever had, especially at a time when I desperately needed even a kind word after R's suicide and some decency wouldn't have gone amiss. I was Company Director, great friends with several Bank Mgrs who came to house, dined, and whiskied and enjoyed our boating etc.etc. There was savagery of the worst order and viciousness and lache-cul as they toadied to where they thought new advantage swilled. All this I lay before NW, whose Simon was lovely, empathetic, honest, kind - and still is. I said I would, as likely as not, have nothing. Didn't matter, said he. I am a pensioner now, but survived 7 prior years on £44 per week. This award letter today mentions gross and net rates. I mentioned having registered this from day 1 5 years ago, when ringing up to thank Kate in person. Instead it was Mike who heard me out and an R85 is en route to me now. This, Mike, is me writing as I intended and I have just phoned to confirm it. So, the whole experience is very much an old-style pleasure, with real service, real values, fullest accountability and decent, real people.

    3. Friend's son has started carport/pagoda out front. Great fun, although sudden sky colour change to grey and sharp snowy downpours have not been lovely. I've enjoyed doing some builder's mate stuff and know how much I've missed all of this after years of same in France. I just love it. Already the uprights are post-mixed in. It's filthy weather again out there as I write.

    4. 2 stonking builder style NZ stoneware mugs[from my shipped boxes]to wrap hands around during our yakking outside/ problem-solving/ measuring/ calculating coffees...great stuff!

    5. Noticed yesterday that Moley has migrated next door. This morning, 2 further holes and then, before my eyes another ppff! and up threw another little earthy spill, then more. Quickly alerted neighbour and we watched the earthworks mounding up. He's moving left [politically approved]as I look out, so should be at next house by end of week...we hope so.

    6. Friend's son arrose-acute-e's my compost when Nature calls. It's in my interest to keep him well-coffee'd therefore;):D

    7. Another half-dozen eggs from neighbour's girls:T

    8. Spitalfields unloading will be fun at stupid clocks, with roadworks continuing a month or 2 yet. Today's weather has meant no stock re-worked, no boxes changed,so not promising. There won't be a lot of foot traffic in this weather. Big sheepie coat day demain. Nothing woven that the wind can pass through.

9.Letter sent, with COP, re: demand from Lowells[I name them in case same scam is tried on someone you know]demanding money 'in respect of your a/c which we have bought'....what?wha?wha? Needless to say, no such a/c, no such debt, but it manages to pass for a solicitor's letter. Taint so. Googled them. Came back here - plenty of mse help. Another reason to thank Martin for this site.

    10. Well, in dark and cold, friend's son has just finished, swept paths using puddle rain to sluice all down and will be back tmrw. Says it should be finished by time I return!:j Can't believe how well he's got on today. Front fencing and covered work area out back next, then Shed of Dreams, ma de-acute-e-pendance.
Martin, please fix it so we can write accents in foreign tongues. Can't be hard.

eleventy-five. Down road, young chap is re-doing house. Friend's son, henceforth L, needed rubbly backfill. Permission happily granted, I barrowed a load back here. Both parties pleased.

Early bed for Spitalfields now, just as weatherman forecasts 'plunging temps, more snow showers, esp. East Anglia, overnight to depth of 5cm and coldest day of week.' I'll wrap up abominably.

    Take care everyone. hwb's ahoy!

4 Was that slept I saw on the road this morning. Cur it fine I did.

3 No book to read this week, so will have to make do with private eye instead.

2 Will have dunk, MSE style in hotel. Their water. No it is not the annual one. That will be next week on Valentino day. Red rises etc for the nextLafy Black.

1 I wait for my correction therapy. Email at work, cos company name changed, we have to agree to I would not work for anyone else etc. Computer needs answers. Computer got shot of answers. All means nothing. Remember the apprenticeship. Instruct how to do it. Show how to do it, watch them do it, let them do it. No instruction comes in Internet connection so bad, it makes watching laurel and hardy even funnier. Correction therapy completed.

Part of the Furniture Combo Breaker I've been Money Tipped!
    Evening all.

    1) Another technically NSD: I spent some B00ts points on some echinacea tablets (in a probably futile attempt to head off what feels like yet another cold, my fourth in three months :() but no real money. :money:

    2) Work IT dept gave into the inevitable and lent me a PC while mine goes off for repairs. It's nice to be back at my own desk and with a computer which doesn't have to be restarted five times a day. :)

    3) Received the candle I'd ordered and it smells just as good as I remembered - it's called a cinnamon scent but smells more like mixed spice to me.

    4) Cuddles with mog, up until the point where he bit me hard enough to draw blood.

    5) Tonight's plan is curry, football, and possibly a rather naughty glass of the wine we won at the pub quiz last night.

ampersand - wrap up well tomorrow, won't you? It's chilly enough out there at the moment, so I hate to think what it will be like in the early hours of the morning.

Kittikins - I'm glad to hear the interview went so well. There's another set of fingers tightly crossed for you here.

DD - hugs, and lots more hugs, to you.
Back after a very long break!

    3. Waiting for the Valentines Linky to open on Friday :money:Will get "My Secret Valentine" (Ha!) some love treats for £2.99 or £3.99 (can't remember) inc. delivery I hope :rotfl:Oh the romance of it all ..

Oooh, I remembered something lovely - DD told me at dinner that as she's going to be a doctor when she grows up, she's started reading all the science books in the school library so that she learns as much as she can all the time. Bless her!

Thank you for the WBs, DS is much better this week, TG, he has been in work, just tomorrow to do before he has a few days off.

    1. Lots of freebies in the post, including a month's supply of one product and two month's supply of another.

    2. I had a pm on here offering me some toiletries that I mentioned I was running low on, from someone who had a surplus. I accepted the offer. I have given a lot away myself in the past, and perhaps it's time for bread cast upon waters to return to me after many days.

    3. I made tortillas from scratch for the first time. They were surprisingly tasty and I'll do them again. How annoying that I'd bought them so expensively in the past.

    4. Finding lots of little oddments when decluttering a food cupboard. DS and myself enjoyed a packet of wasabi peas, I made myself mock mulled wine from pure purple grape juice (free with a coupon) and a rediscovered mulled wine sachet.

    5. Donating a book to another local MSE'r who was wanting one on that topic.

    6. Your pleasures.
Erma Bombeck, American writer: "If I had my life to live over again... I would have burned the pink candle, sculptured like a rose, that melted in storage." Don't keep things 'for best' - that day never comes. Use them and enjoy them now.

    L O all

I nearly had an NSD, but then remembered that I'd given the kids dinner money :(;)
Chicken - Simon Farnaby!! Check him out on Horrible Histories though, regrettably, he didn't sing the Richard III song.
Ampersand - if your building work requires a lawyer at any point, I'm your [STRIKE]man[/STRIKE] woman

    Todays

    1. More marking, no pleasure except I have only 20 left and they HAVE to be finished tomorrow
    2. Took an hour out to go in the bath and finished my book.
    3. Fish fingers and chips for tea
    4. Washing dried on the line
    5. DS has chosen his options for GCSE. WE were pleased to see that he has been placed in the top 110 in his year (top half effectively) - there was a time when this would have seemed impossible. Unfortunately he wants to do 2 subjects in the same group but we will have to keep fingers crossed that he is allowed.

    Oh well, more marking.

    Night all
I wanna be in the room where it happens
