Hello folks.
Been MIA as DS had a Godawful week struggling with personal issues, he had to have time off work.
I can't say more as his privacy might be compromised but there was not a lot of pleasure appreciating going on.
He is back at work and it was a bit of a struggle today, but he did it. I feel a bit washed out from it all, as I always do from this recurring problem. It's a case of 'I know what I'm doing, I'll be OK' - then he palpably isn't. Now I think he's admitted that he isn't OK any time the problem arises.
However, now the worst is hopefully behind us, I can reflect on some.
1. Whole bunch of cleaning materials and toiletries given from friend having a clear out. As I'm in the 'No Buying Unnecessary' threads for both these, we are well sorted.
2. Seeing DS's close friend married on Saturday. We got caught in traffic and just made it in time for the magic words.
Then a lovely buffet at a local town centre pub - a live music pub, Georgian building and chock full of atmosphere.
3. Getting to babysit for DGC. I wish they would ask me more often but as I don't run a car, the other grandparents nearly always get asked.
4. Finding some lovely clothes to send to my Estonian cousin's children. Hopefully the postage won't be a killer, I chose the lightest items out of those I really liked.
5. The stress of the last week has made me lose a bit more weight. Every cloud.
6. Prof Brian Cox and Sir David Attenborough being worth the TV licence fee on their own.Erma Bombeck, American writer: "If I had my life to live over again... I would have burned the pink candle, sculptured like a rose, that melted in storage." Don't keep things 'for best' - that day never comes. Use them and enjoy them now.0 -
mcculloch I've also been MIA for a couple of days due to offspring issues among other things, so I empathise and hope both your DS and mine soon have peace of mind
katholicos what a cutie your Sookie is
ampersand thank you for the link, I've already signed due to my connections with RSPB but good that everyone has the opportunity. Some mistakenly think that by signing they're only supporting our feathered friends when in fact it's for all wildlife. Other fin, fur and feather org's also have petitions and the more that are signed, the better
1. a lot of outstanding paperwork cleared up over the last couple of days. Almost done...
2. Much housework attended to, including a very long cobweb behind the bedroom curtains. It was like a streamer, must have been there for months! And to think I went to specs@vers - do you think I can sue?
3. 2 nsd/npd's
4. A very cold but amazingly sunny day all day, one would almost think Spring is on the way
5. 2 lots of washing dried on the line
6. 3 furpets brushed, combed and defurred in the vain hope I won't be wearing animal hair when I go out next. Pet owners will understand, and also understand that I had no hesitation in running the cats comb through my hair before answering the doorbell halfway through the grooming sessions
7. Watching Richard 3rd documentary. Very moving, very emotional, very exciting!
Sweet dreams0 -
Another one here for Richard III - that woman is nutty as a fruitcake though
Another marking daystill not finished but here goes
1. The news about Dicky (above) - what do I care? But I seem to somehow. My favourite tweet was "Now is the winter of our discovery in cement" :rotfl:
2. Lunch with friend as marking respite
3. Fish pie for tea, with RTC fish and plenty left over
4. Exchange with FN on facebook. She seems ok about the split and I've told her to talk to me if she needs to - I'm a good secret keeper
5. Having spent a couple of weeks not spending money on a new cagoule I need (I just can't seem to spend so much on something i find so ghastly), DS has decided he doesn't like the winter coat OH bought for him. THanks that'll do nicely!
Night allI wanna be in the room where it happens0 -
Very odd fact about Leicester Uni's Archaeology Department. (Where Richard III was and all the staff were trying to avoid that most strange woman!).....
....I went to the open day and was so freaked out by THIS ----> http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OXSnNzGJDdg that I did archaeology at Nottingham instead!0 -

I heard on the radio that in the US version they take out DAs voice and put on Oprah or someone else instead. Mad! His voice is marvellous, he's a treasure. Good podcast about him called New Elizabethans (lots of good ones in that series).
5 things for today:- some progress re DSs homework and doing agreed things
- lovely sunny day
- excellent farm shop sausages for supper
- Howard Goodall's history of music. He had extra cred in our house when we found out he wrote the music for Blackadder and Qi
- Struggling here... this quiet half hour when all are in bed (as I should be, but it's the only P&Q I get!)

1. Nursed car back through little-orange-lighty-too-many-miles from silver-smithing to Mr-petrol-T and made it. Fair start on my off-the-wall ampersand pendant/torc tonight.
2. Icy cold but high sharp starry sky in consequence. Constellations dazzling tonight.
3. Looking forward to hwb; bed imminent. No all day sun here today sparrer. Glad you had it though.
4. Silversmithing starts @19h so I miss The Archers - Lizzy and Whip eh, dd? Hmm, let me reflect. Should clarify re: slimy Paul and unconvincing reformed Matt. It's not a comparison matter for me, just a scripting one. But oh no, not that either ' The Archers are real: there is no cast.'
5. Enjoying memories and replays of the Troggs, esp. Wild Things, with news of Reg Presley's death. Don't mean it to be an inapproropriate posting as a pleasure.
6. In em from NZ Uncle, 89 years young -
Did I read that sign right?

Morning
McCulloch / Sparrer - Hugs to you and your DS's and hope things improve for them soon.
Chicken - the only reason I seem so organised is that if I wasn't we would live off takeaways and rubbish all week
Kittikins - Good luck today, you will be fab
Pleasures for yesterday,
1. Lift to work off a friend so saved on bus fare and as running late got me there a bit quicker. Also got a lift home off OH as he was working locally.
2. Finished another section of baby cardigan so now have back and one half of the front done. The problem will be when it comes to sewing it all together, I don't do well with sewing (this is an understatement)
3. Easy spag bol for dinner and OH helped prep the veggies for it. Also made a pan of carrot soup for lunches, I forgot the soup was cooking but think I managed to rescue it. Will know today when I go to eat some.
4. Lovely receptionist at work bought me a packet of breakfast biscuits as a thank you for helping her out last week when short staffed and a few issues arose that she couldn't solve.
5. Sorting out baby present for a friend which looks really good but knowing not too much money spent, thanks to using B00ts points and something handmade.
Hugs to all who need them0 -

Tealady, I used to struggle with the sewing bit (I am a knitter,NOT a sewer - oh no:eek:, that wasn't the word I meant! And even less of a seamstress!) Until I watched lots of youtube videos about how to do mattress stitch. Now it holds no fears and my garments get worn instead of getting left in the cupboard (they used to look so gammy). Might be worth a try...
Starter for today:- more snow, the swirly, fairy tale kind...
- might 'DS parents' evening later' turn into one of my 5? Waiting with baited breath...
