Well done, Kittikins - a month is quite a while to wait, though.

Here are my pleasures for today:

    1) Not a bad sleep.

    2) Sons off to school OK.

    3) Glad to see Mr Sainsburys as we got by with £6 of shopping last week.

    4) Made a huge batch of minced beef, onion, tomatoes etc so have enough for a big shepherds pie tomorrow and 2 more dinner's worths in the freezer.

    5) Enjoyed watching World's Craziest Fools with bigger son.

    6) Holby City later!

    1. Just finished major mucking out of emails - over 7000:eek::eek::eek:

    2. Stuck at the writing, phoning, blahblah list. It's horrendous atm, but I'm getting there. It helps when there's something as wonderful as this on in the afternoon:
    http://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/b01qdvlr

...and there were times when some of those wonderful letters, words, endearments, contexts, sensed exchanges, mirrored those I knew with R.

    3. Eventually out, hours late because of above, around 15h and did last Spits banking. Found £30 down side of passport holder!:T:j!!! In it went.

    4. Returned to savorous lushness. Had set a joint of w8rose silverside[rtc £1.49] to slowly ,very slowly mijoter, with bay leaf, white wine, carrot, celery, moutarde de Dijon, beefstock. It had quietly got on with perfecting itself in my >4hr absence. Divine to open door ce soir and Mmmmmm.....esp. as snow was falling again and it was so cold. I confirm it tastes as good as it smells...well, I did heave a pot of thick cream in as a final flourish.:o

    5. Needed more petrol. Outside Mr T as light failed and snow fell, in great horde drifts came many, many, many murders of crows. And they kept coming. On empty Norfolk beaches, Devon headlands, France, I have watched vast gavotting swoops of starlings and other birds, but never have I seen what happened earlier tonight. It was simply this: in the car, as I looked through windscreen and every window in turn, there was no single one un-crowed. I got out, looked up. Without exaggeration, wherever I looked, the sky was full. It lasted over 5 minutes, before an end line showed and these last ones flew beyond Tesco's roofline. There was diversity, occasional freestyle breakaways, but some overall cohesion ruled. I'm a fair eyeballer - the crow train was 6/7 miles long, passing overhead. Quite something.

    6. About to enjoy re-reading sparrer's Indian journey posts...for a reason.:)

Sorry to hear that dd. Hope it gets easier.
    1. more snow, the swirly, fairy tale kind...
    2. might 'DS parents' evening later' turn into one of my 5? Waiting with baited breath...
    2. yup, it was amazingly good actually, except for the bits about the various pieces of homework not being done;)
    3. excellent farmers market pies for dinner
    4. Stretching a point, when I fell flat on my face running to the car in the rain and tripping over a TOTALLY UNNECESSARY kerb stone, I DiDNT ladder my tights or break anything
    5. Don't start work tomorrow til 3 so can have a slow start and a more relaxed sleep tonight (if that almost counts as today's pleasure...)

    Phew, that was quite hard!

(((Hugs))) DD, keeping you in my thoughts and prayers
Whoops caroline! Hope you're okay and unhurt, and I haven't jinxed the board after mine of last week. Pleased about the tights though :D
PK I promised myself no more black but I've so much yet to wear out. All my friends are used to me picking off hairs wherever I am, some even wear their own dogs and/or cats ;)
Frith the window do look smart. Pleased smaller son hasn't lost his front seat in the taxi

    1. Sleep in til 8am
    2. nsd/npd. Still living on the larder/ff, but only three pieces of fruit left so will have to shop this week
    3. Took a bag of peelings/ends from the freezer to make stock, with a year-old slab of braising beef I've turned it into a delicious meaty soup with pearl barley and lentils. The leftover bits of fat and veg have been turned into a tasty addition for muttley's dinner tomorrow
    4. Found the perfect birthday cards for DD and DS, whose birthdays are on Friday, although 9 years apart. Not often I find what I'm looking for in the first shop I go into :)
    5. No snow, just a lovely bright if very cold day

    Sleep tight :)

    Good luck Skint and Kittikins

DD - what can I say? Hugs to you - do what is right for YOU

Missmoneysave - love the idea of a simple sandwich being a pleasure

Chicken - great choice of words, re Skint :p

    For yesterday

    1. Managed to catch the train to work so I got in a good half hour walk to and from the office
    2. Teaching went well - I like this group
3.Made DD a cheese wrap which kind of fell apart when I wrapped it, so I took it to work (after making her something else), it was unexpectedly delicious
    4. Dinner on the firm - we took an american couple out who were visiting from a partner university in Georgia. A really nice couple who were very funny
    5. I need to do a "guest lecture" slot next Monday and I found the notes I had from when I used to teach this subject which made my workload considerably lighter. :T

Have a good day all - the dreaded marking awaits.
I wanna be in the room where it happens
