Well... much pleasure here. DS came up trumps and did indeed do the tasks I'd asked him to, plus a bit more.
A tidied front of house flower bed, a tidied back garden and the path between the lawns at the rear of the house neatly edged. Those jobs used to take me hours, DS did all 3 in just over an hour.

    Grouped pleasure 2.

Into the nearest largeish town on the bus and the discount greengrocers.

A big bag of parsnips was 50p, ditto a large bunch of grapes, 500g of cherry tomatoes, 3 huge apples and a big bunch of spring onions.

I also got a large bag of satsumas and 4 Sharon fruit (persimmons), both 99p. The Sharon fruit are the largest I've ever seen and taste wonderful. I could have had much, much more, but this was a spur of the moment trip, and I'd bought some fruit yesterday.

Then home to the Sugru repair paste arriving free from Amazon. This is a rubbery repair putty and I have it earmarked for several jobs. Which I shall do. :D

ambers i make my porrige with sultanas and water too
Far too tired today after masoovio row with oh last night. Can you believe she came out yelling when i got picked up by my line manager and my phd student in the car. She was in her night clothe/ - tres embarrassing, yet 5 good things most definitely can be remembered
    1) symposium at crieff hydro. Was lovely drive there and we arrived in good time
    2) good talks and good networking followed by absolutely scrummy lunch
    3) asked line manager to drop me off at work (we were only staying the morning) with marking in mind but my login didnt work so... Put on call the midwife and spent an hour sorting emails
    4) got quite addicted and spent another 90 mintutes doing emails -down from 796  to 555 and all this week's gone so planning on getting through others by end of feb
    5) home and new mattress arrived. While oh cooked i got rid of all the packing. Now just the old mattress to get shot of.
Murrayfield tomoz. Dd2's xmas pressie, meeting dd1 at haymarket. The only other time i've been to murrayfield was the calcutta cup where i as a sassernach was supporting the 'wrong' team. Will be nice to go supporting the scots. Wont even bother to follow luton, clearly the win against norwich put them to sleep :-(

    Evening

    Pleasures for today,
    1. Nearly all of the office went out to lunch together as two lovely ladies leaving to have babies. Lovely for everyone to be out together plus had yummy lunch at very good price.
    2. OH's (read that as now mine) vouchers for his credit card arrived from Mr.T woohoo
    3. Got my head around a database at work that I used to use everyday but haven't used for a few years. All came back to me very quickly.
    4. DD has some baby sitting work tonight and had cooked her own dinner. Plus as she will get paid means she won't be hassling me for money next week.
    5. Made slight change to the meal plan as OH fancied curry so just a case of changing the sauce I had intended to cook the SO turkey breast in.

Hugs to all who need them

Oh dear, DD - this too shall pass. Glad you found some pleasures without too much effort
Chicken - did you get your valentines "thing"? They'd all gone by time I looked. I did suggest to OH that we didn't bother with cards and was met by stony silence, better buy one then :rotfl:

    5 for today

    1. Walked into town for an appointment instead of driving. 40 minutes of exercise for an extra 20 minutes effort.
    2. Clean kitchen, hall and lounge. WE can be visited now as long as no-one goes upstairs or beyond kitchen (which is in middle of house!)
    3. Listening once again to Wednesday's Cabin Pressure and crying with laughter - literally :rotfl:
4.lunch with friend and her DD
    5. Aqua - robics with DD. Really didn't want to go but rather enjoyed it (and I was the slimmest non-teenager there! :D Makes a change)

Got to work tomorrow :( Open day. Hopefully I can have a day off in lieu at some point.
I wanna be in the room where it happens
  • 1. House clean and tidy :T

    2. Lovely weather, birds singing and a hint of spring in the air I do believe!

    3. Yummy roast chicken dinner.

    4. Snuggled up in my fleecy jumper and pjs.

    5. Homemade brownie and custard for a naughty supper

Porridge made with water, add some dried fruit and cinnamon, yummy.

    1. Had a portion of the rotisserie chicken for dinner with some hm wedges
    2. Cut the blackcurrant pie into 12 fingers and froze. Had one finger with some ff plain yogurt for pud. Tempted to have 2 but restrained myself - this time ;)
    3. Offered some bits on freecycle, mustn't give too much away as saving for car booting but I wanted something on offer so had to offer in exchange.
    4. Got my gas and elec bills, am in credit with both :D
    5. Watched Dreams of a Life last night, the Joyce Vincent story. A very good documentary but tragic, poignant, a dreadful ending to a young life. It reinforces the necessity to look out for people.
    6. DD and DS birthdays today. Haven't had a phone call from either telling me the lottery tickets I slipped into their cards have won yet, so it looks like I'll be driving Kefi for a bit longer ;). Sadly DS can't be here but hopefully he'll come about Easter for a belated celebration

    Sleep tight :)

    LOL over brother chasing!

Here are my pleasures for today (Friday).

    1) Not a bad sleep.

    2) Went into town before going up to college and swapped my phone (contract ended today). So now I have one without a cracked screen, after months of trying to peer at mine!

    3) Went to college which was warm, comfortable, people nice but the course is very basic. You can tell that everyone else is kicking their heels as well. It isn't really a college, more a community centre place with a children's centre at one end and a tiny little library at the other.

    4) Had about 2 mins after college to pop into Sainsburys after a perilous lack of loo roll and milk situation.

    5) Got home and mum and dad appeared (very rare) to have a look at the new window frames. And they had bought sons some mini eggs.

    6) Spent a while playing with the new phone with smaller son.

    7) Ooo yes, a scientist went to smaller son's school today. He had a van den Graaf (I think?) generator with the lightning and I was told that smaller son got electrocuted 10 times (!) At one point, the scientist had everyone hold hands and the electricity passed through all of them.

    8) Made a big pizza for tea with dough done in the bread maker.

    9) Went to bingo at the village hall but won nothing. Sons happy though.

    10) Did a mammoth Harry Potter reading. It was the penultimate chapter when JKR obviously thought it was time to explain the whole plot in one go. :-/

    11) So tired am already in bed with a hwb. Any time before 11.30 is unusual. Also unknown is that the washing is still circling in the tumble dryer and the washing up is sitting by the sink. Can't think of a time when I've ever been to bed without getting everything done first! News Quiz awaits.

    1. Have sold the jigsaw short. Turned box over. Found front in neg. dotted with letters and numbers. Quick look in box - no code, so when I work out how, I'll be pixing and posting here for everyone to supply missing labels. Only those of the True Faith are qualified to participate, of course.
    Tum-ti-tum-ti-tum-ti-tum,
    tum-ti-tum-ti-TAH-dah.
    2. In increasing desperation and some bulldozing frenzy, eventually found Spits takings after repeated forensic bed filleting[weren't even in bedroom:o]and went to play Banks. Note to future self: do not play shops in bed after 23-hour day and ailing. Slowly, slowly catchee monkey...

    3. Well, what a cracker of a News Quiz!!! No-one must miss this one - 3 listens mandatory.

    4. w8rose cappu at hand, eyed Murdoch organ over, but maintained NSD. Checked local rag also, for any w/e jumblies etc. Glad there are none - just need to be snug, warm, weller, maybe rugby-watch in next village hostelry company. Will certainly see/listen somewhere.

    5. Lovely bath ce matin which seemed to stay hot while I dozed off. NZ pumice of tooties felt Proustian nice - memories of picking various pieces up not yet a year ago.

    6. Used putah to watch some Michel Roux, then a more than glorious Monty Don in France prog., in which he speaks pretty much all of my philosophies of French life, of terroir de l'âme, relishes and values every experience and person he meets.

    7. ...ensuite, a most memorable QI with Saint Stephen of Fry and such a naughty girlies' night with dear Alan D. allowed as an Honorary, BUT - IT MUST BE A FIRST and only by such means - TONIGHT, HE WON!
    Memorable bits:Saint Stephen and 'titties'.
Sue P 'Tonight's the night he turns.'
Jo B 'Jelly' and all that ensued.
Alan doesn't even know how he knows 'Canada' is the answer, but points to you who can guess the question.
    Answer is Quite Interesting....

    8. Catalogue in post. Had forgotten signed Richard Beer 'Arsenale'[no.2/100] comes up in their Fine Arts qtrly next week. I'd taken it in for an opinion. They invited its inclusion . A nice 10p find, rolled up:eek::eek::eek:, which I put in a huge, perfect, slightly distressed soft-gilt frame, matte eau de nil mount. It's a wondrous shimmering, hovering work of exceptional quality and love. Let's see if it goes. Very low-end 3-fig in this field of 4-fig. estimates. On verra.
I have referenced him here before:

bop- unsure what you're telling me to do.
    Well done that son, McCulloch.
Agree with everything good said about Cabin Pressure too, says this long-serving phan of Stephanie Cole.
We have an Oats'n'Water quorum I see[dd and sparrer], so Membership of The Honorable and Ancient Gruel Club is now open. I just joined:D.

St Apolline in half an hour - grim story. Bonne Nuit.
