CCP - snap, i had a meal deal too. Even though I'd spent a small portion on food :o Well done on the pub quiz
I'm getting a bit worried about all these 100 year old people climbing out of windows

    For today

    1. Slept till 5.30 - slightly better, but feel overwhelmingly exhausted now
    2. Been shopping - not really a pleasure but I always feel happier when fridge and cupboards are full
    3. Lunch with girlfriends - first one since christmas time
    4. M&S meal deal (see above)
    5. Dunno - Oh yes, DS got a 6A in his history. His work is really improving now and it is options time in the next few weeks. He wants to do history so this is a good step towards it.

    Have a good evening all

    3. John Finnemore's blog - thank goodness I have now read the entire thing and can get my life back :rotfl:

    Have a good day all

Who is he and how do I find his blog?

    1. Agreeing with others, absolutely amazed and impressed by Murray today. Didn't he look different too? Do you think that helped?
    2. Snowing again but got home with no problem
    3. just picked up the lib book I ordered for DS2, brand new, looks hideously gory but he'll like it. For once they didn't make a fuss about me not having his card, only 2 other family members' cards
    4. Found I can listen to ML on R5 on podcast which I never realised, I never hear it otherwise, not a good time of day for me.
    5. thanks to sparrer I have new found fb cred as 2 friends have shared the life hacks link, I feel positively honoured, never had that before!
    6. Next work trip cancelled, yay!
    7. It's Friday, yay yay, and DS2s new school seems to be quite a success thank goodness.
Glass of wine in hand, it's the weekend, huge sigh of relief :D

    Evening

    Pleasures for today,
    1. Packed lunch and breakfast for everyone again today, trying to make sure we take packed lunch to work / college as a rule rather than exception. Found we are eating healthier as well as saving money.
    2. Low spend day just bought some satsumas and some beans so £2 spend. Also treated OH to some flavoured liquorice using holland & barrett points.:money:
    3. Signed up to volunteer for the Moonwalk today and talked a few friends into volunteering as well. Looking forward to the night and knowing that I don't have to do all the training.
    4. Just had a yummy chicken and veg curry, used a curry paste to make and was very nice.
    5. Just checked the contents of the fridge before shopping and just about empty. This is a pleasure as there is no waste and knowing that meal planning and shopping lists are working.

Hugs to all who need them

He is a writer and broadcaster, mostly for Radio 4. His current show is "Cabin Pressure" a comedy about a small airline, which stars Benedict Cumberbatch (<<sigh>>), Roger Allam and Stephanie Cole. i love it - and love his sense of humour. If you google "John Finnemore blog" you'd get it - but I warn you, you may get addicted. It had me :rotfl:

Argh, so grumpy! I'm on antibiotics for UTI number 495837264950 and they always make me thoroughly miserable. :-( (Must remember to get some more - I'm allowed some to keep at home for when I need them without having to see the nurse).

Here are my pleasures for today:

    1) Not a bad sleep.

    2) Graze box came and had popcorn in it.

    3) Went to college! It's just a short course in Website design.

    4) Had another inch of snow but now thank goodness it has turned to rain and squally wind. We already had 25cm of snow, would like a rest now!

    5) Nothing to do now except watch TV in front of the fire.

Katholicos I suppose the old saying you can lead a horse to water can apply to our kids. My son is about to start uni in 5 weeks time. We have to pay a horrific amount of money for this and I just hope he sticks in! Can only offer encouragement and support but I know how frustrating they are when you know what they are capable

Exactly! The old sayings really are spot on aren't they! I do hooe that things work out for your son. Good luck to him!

    Thanks for your encouragement :)

Chickenopolis, yes, you are right, i probably should have the wig. i think i will get a big bouncy curly blond wig and maybe wear a big pink bow in my blond wiggy hair. I might end up looking like vicki pollard tho'!!!!

Rightio, my 5 pleasures for the day....

    1. Slow cooker made us a really yummy vegetable curry today.

    2. Haven't had to go out of the house at all and have all we need right here so the snow can snow. Dd got safely home from uni, Ds walked home from work tonight.

    3. The letter Ds got from college today isn't a letter booting him off the course. So hopefully he will start knuckling down asap.

    4. Sowed some seeds in windowsill propogator and potted on some allium seedlings.

    5. Mum phoned in a panic, all of a worry about a seemingly urgent plumbing problem. Since she had already phoned a plumber, i did not brave the weather to visit her. She phoned later to say the plumber had been out and it is all now sorted. So pleased for her to have got that sorted, and thankful the plumber visited her within 2 hours of her phone call.

Stay safe and warm and well my friendos.

    Hiya,

Still very up and down but here's another quick and unimaginative five for today:

    1. An unexpected day at home - the DSs went and organised things without me. They organised taking the remains of last night's curry for their packed lunches. :D

    2. That meant a NPD and NSD.

    3. Lots more paperwork sorted and shredding continues apace.

    4. The house is looking great again (and would be quickly flood-ready again if the big thaw happens). DS2 vacuumed the ground floor and stairs earlier. Big help.

    5. DS1 ate out tonight, DS2 had for-use-in-emergencies pizza from the freezer and I had a ripe pear and a very nice lump of brie for supper. I really wasn't up to eating more.

Off to bed with a hot drink.

    Sweet dreams

Pleased you enjoyed the link. I'm still trying to fold a tee shirt Ninja style but just can't grasp it - literally!

mhags belated Happy Burns Day, and Happy Aussie Day as well :j
CCP I was tempted by the cheese sauce, I love it too, but had some cauli to use up so managed to restrain myself til lunch time. Of course had I thought I could have had cauli cheese for breakfast
caroline no you're not ripping the shop off, they're selling them at that price so all's fair. Pleased to hear your fb cred has gone up in the world :D
katholicos some people just take longer to find their niche. It seems frustrating now but he'll sort himself out, just don't give in to him and make sure he doesn't let your standards slip at home. Much as they kick back at routine and rules, even as young adults they actually appreciate having them - though they'd never admit it!
VJsmum I'm all 'barrassed now, didn't mean to call anyone here an eejit :o. I did hear somewhere though that they can fine people with snow on the roof, but hopefully the rain has melted it all for you now.
chicken you could start a new trend, smokey custard cookies :D
Broomstick thinking of you and hoping you stay high and dry

    1. nsd/npd, must count them up but at least half of this month so far. Will never catch up with Broomstick though!
    2. most of todays list done, only put off the things I've put off every day this week, and added them to the next day, because I don't want to do them :o
    3. Had a cold weather payment, not a fortune but it means both heating and eating are possible for a little longer.
    4. It's raining, fingers crossed the snow will all be gone by tomorrow
    5. Tidied my sewing box and founds lots of bits and bobs for DGD2, who is building a stock of haberdashery (if that's what they still call it these days?) for her design projects

    Sleep tight :)

Don't be daft :D It IS stupid - I realised that when some came off a roof in front of me on the m-way, my instinct was to swerve. And my friend braked heavily at one point yesterday and hers came onto the windscreen with a startling thud - like an avalanche. Luckily we had stopped but that could have had nasty consequences. It is only laziness and my hatred of the horrible cold stuff that stops me scraping it off.

The snow avoided us here in the Midlands and fell as rain. Still on the ground though, hopefully gone tomorrow. OH and DD have gone off to London for the day. Me and DS are here - kitchen cleaning day. Deep joy!! Still, I'd rather do that than go to OHs organ recitals or to Spamalot with DD.

    Have a good day all.
