    1. Pay day :) (not sure why I'm smiling so much as with this not being a full month's pay, it doesn't even pay the mortgage.......but what the heck, it's more than the dole, so :) I shall!)

    2. NSD

    3. Did "pay" for parking but I'll be reimbursed so not really a spend, and it was £3 less than anticipated :)

    4. Went on a great course (I know, a great course, sounds like an oxymoron, but no, it really was!) and had £5 credit for lunch at the in-house restaurant. I had a yummy lunch and had enough left over for a bag of mini eggs for DD :) Next week I'll plan my spend even more carefully so I can get her crisps or something for packed lunches!

    5. Going out to prayer meeting soon and the babysitter is already paid for :)

    6. A friend looked after DD for me after school as I couldn't get back in time.

    7. MMMm quorn sausages, mash and beans for dinner :)

    Hey up luvvies,

    My 5 for today...

    1. After doing some research online, I've made the decision to change our feeding of our lovely collie. I have done all the costings and it will cost no more than what she currently eats, to vastly improve her diet, so i took the plunge and ordered her a big bag of the dried food i am now going to feed her on. After losing our yorkie to illness a few months ago, i just want to give our collie the best we can for what we can afford, just doing a bit of research has cleared up lots of my previous misconceptions regarding price of quality products etc.

    2. Tea was the soup out of the slow cooker. Mighty nice if ,i do say so myself. With enough leftover for me and DD to have tomorrow.

    3. Dd bought me a small pack of chocolate buttons and some lovely yellow tulips as a gift, when she came back from town.

    4. Think i am doing the breast cancer walk in june. DD says she will push me in my wheelchair. Poor girl! I think we will have to do a few trials to build up her stamina. I am no featherweight!

DD has just asked me if i want to order a pink glitter wig from the website....erm, i think not!

    5. Shredded/tore up lots of newspaper for the compost bins....if i ever get out there in the garden. Roll on spring is all i can say.

    (((Hugs to all)))

ccp what a fab dream. Mine have been at the nightmare end recently. Shall concentrate tonight on luxury hotel as i nod off :-)
    1) gave work throw-out paper to neighbour who has a 4 year old
    2) nice lunch of xmas cheese sarnie and last 7 liquorice allsorts (separate lol)
    3) new boots arrived so changed into them at work and threw leaky worn out ones away. Snuggly feet and a nice box for sister's pamper hamper for her birthday

    5) supper was xmas sprouts (almost finished thank goodness as now going a bit yellow) fried with onion, xmas cream (from freezer) stirred in, chopped up spicy sausage that needed using up, pasta and a handful of frozen veg. Evening

Mcculloch - My DD also struggles to read from white paper and uses the tinted wallets. They have to be green or yellow though she finds pinks and reds even harder to read from.

    Pleasures for today,
    1. Another NSD, did get some bits in B00ts but used points to get a couple of baby presents for upcoming friends babies arrival and to stock up on some bathroom bits. Still have over £20 of points left:money:
    2. Picked up new specs from Opticians. Finding them a little hard to get used to, think will be great for reading but not for computer work.
    3. Made a very yummy dinner. Had intended to make pasta bolognaise but had no mince. Put some beef skirt in the slow cooker this morning and shredded it tonight and added to a tomato and herb sauce plus lots of veggies. It was very yummy if I do say so myself.
    4. Menu plan and shopping list written for next week taking into account things on special offer plus still keeping reasonably healthy.
    5. DD getting a letter form college to congratulate her on her high attendance and time keeping. I know it is just a little thing but after all the hassle of school it is nice for her to get some praise plus getting there on time is not always easy as traffic on that route can be horrendous.

Hugs to all who need them.

    My pleasures for Thursday:

    1) Not a bad sleep.

    2) Made a large tea - gammon, roast veg (potatoes, sweet potatoes, beetroot, carrots and parsnips plus gravy). My brother made blackcurrant crumble for pudding.

    3) Went swimming with sons and brother.

    4) House reasonably tidy.

    5) -5 now and more snow forecast tomorrow (hardly any of the existing snow has gone yet!) but then milder over the weekend.

Tomorrow I am starting at college. :-)

katholicos sons can be a worry, my DS left school and went from one thing to another for some time. Admittedly he had fun and met some interesting people but wasn't in the least interested in settling down. He was an avid course attendee though, I don't know how many pieces of paper he has. At long last he went back to studying and now at the age of 31 is finishing s 4 year uni course which should lead him into a very good position. Unless he decides to continue to be a mature student!

    1. Defrosted a tub of 'porridge' for breakfast only to find it was cheese sauce. Enjoyed my breakfast of F&F and lunch of cauli cheese :D
    2. Went shopping, drove very cautiously out of the ice-covered square, main roads are all absolutely clear. Amazing how many twits are still driving with snow on the roof. When I got back the sun was shining which has turned the ice to slush, hope it doesn't freeze again tonight
    3. Bought just what I needed in Mr M - til I got to the meat YS counter. a mahoosive pork loin chop for £1.10 which I had to cut into two before freezing, and a piece of braising steak for 80p. Just had enough money to pay for everything
    4. DS sent me an amusing email with some very novel cost cutting ideas, hope it's okay to post the link here http://twistedsifter.com/2013/01/50-life-hacks-to-simplify-your-world/
my favourites are 3,16,20,34,and 50. All foodie, of course :). No 24 seriously worries me though, pulling the wrong black lead out could cause a shock for someone! DS was going to practice No. 40, will find out how he got on later
    5. Cleared my list of Thursday To Do's, this is almost unheard of. Tomorrow's looks daunting already but will worry about that tomorrow :p

    Sweet dreams :)

sparrer, those life hacks are brilliant! I can use loads of those, and very OS. 47 is my favourite for things like dried fruit and pulses, impossible to store tidily without decanting. Off to cut up some plastic bottles!
    5 for today:
    1. watching a variety of birds feeding, including nuthatches which I don't see often here
    2. a present from someone I've worked with, lovely and unexpected
    3. DS2 voluntarily coming off x box and reading a book for an hour:j
    4. DS1 saying how useful last year's revision timetable was and how we must construct another for this year:j:j
    5. Substantial haul of rtc Christmas cards which I bought in various charity shops today, including some really lovely ones. Have to keep telling myself I'm not ripping off the shops (am I?!)
Hugs and peace to those in need of them

Sparrer, your son sounds a lot like my daughter. She is only 21 but she has told me she would quite happily study/learn academia for her entire adult life. She would ideally like to go on to do a Masters after her uni stint ends.

DS is terribly apathetic. Has no drive, no gumption iykwim...and he dreams his life away. He isn't remotely academic or studious and has not bothered to go into college for the last 3 weeks or so, despite my being at the end of my tether with him.

He is now talking about doing another course mat the college he is currently at, when his current course ends. He will be lucky if he isn't frogmarched out of the college for absenteeism, when, if ever, he does return there.

I am trying not to get stressy, but he rubs me up the wrong way without even making a special effort to do so.

I suspect he is in for a rude awakening one of these days.

Katholicos I suppose the old saying you can lead a horse to water can apply to our kids. My son is about to start uni in 5 weeks time. We have to pay a horrific amount of money for this and I just hope he sticks in! Can only offer encouragement and support but I know how frustrating they are when you know what they are capable off!

Dundee doll had my tartan shoes on all day at work :)

Well hurrah for Friday and bigger HURRAH for long weekend, it's a public holiday on Monday.

Work was okay and glad to get it over with for the week.

Wore my tartan shoes to work in honour of Burns Day

Enjoyed my drive home.....it was 29o when I left for work at 7 am....that is mighty hot for that early in the day. Now a cool 19o with a gorgeous breeze coming through the patio doors.

After waiting in a 'queue' on the phone to sons university I was finally given the info I needed....they had not replied to the 2 emails sent to them on that matter bu had replied to another issue. Now we can get on with paperwork!

That's me for now, girls have kind of tidied so will have a little potter around and see what needs doing ,

Have a lovely day and stay warm ( I hope to stay cool)
