Here are my pleasures for today.
1) Not a bad sleep.
2) Windows man came and I have a quote for the replacement of the final 3 windows - hoorah!
3) Discussed keeping the old frames for firewood as the last lot burned so well and Mr Windows is going to drop me a pile of old frames off from other jobs next time he visits his mum - who owns a farm somewhere near the village!
4) House quite clean and tidy.
5) Bigger son finished his big art project.
6) Went swimming with sons and my brother.
7) Made toad in the hole for tea and did a tray of roast veg with it.
8) Hoping to get an earlier night and will listen to the Archers Omnibus.
9) Bigger son back to school tomorrow. :-)0 -
1. A large grocery shop, a few yellow stickered fruit and veg.
2. Central heating. Warmth at the touch of a button or flick of a switch.
3. The lovely half price potted plant i bought for my DD from Mr T. I put it in her bedroom so she would have a nice surprise when she got in from studying at uni.
4. Full freezers and fridge. Feel blessed.
5. Our gorgeous collie. Norty but so so nice!Grocery Challenge for October: £135/£200

5 for today
1. Lazy day
2. Snooze in the afternoon.
3. Just been to cinema with OH and DM with tickets that were free for eating loads of chocolates , a while back in the summer . Saved well over £20.
4. Saw the "The Quartet" - loved it. Although B. Conolly has too much of a naughty twinkle in his eye to pass as an older person in a retirement home.
5.Golden arches kiddies meal on way home -the three of us entertained and fed for less than a tenner ! Not been to the cinema since watching Pearl Harbour ages ago ! Took a valium as the seats kill me... that I do remember .
Have a good evening all !:AToo fat to be Felicity Kendal , but aim for a bit more of the good life :A0 -
Hello all, thank you so much for making me feel welcome back again!
Today loads of lovely pleasures in spite of having woken up before 5 am and never managed to get to sleep again. Here goes:
1 - 5am wakeup, not good, but the pleasure was going downstairs in the living room, cranking up the heating (for once I thought sod it!), making myself loads of cups of tea and lying on the sofa, covered with a blanket, reading mags and listening to Magic FM. Very much the case of getting lemons, making lemonade!
2 - Today Italians celebrate LA BEFANA! (google it for info). So we got a nice little brunch celebration and a box of fancy biscuits for each of the kids. They loved it, in spite of being nearly 24 years old, they still like our little traditions!
3 - DH and I went to a wassailing in the local park.
4 - Then we went to see an exhibition (Constable, Gainsborough and Turner) at the Royal Academy, before our membership expires at the end of January and it is so expensive I doubt we will renew.
5 - But before it expires we will be able to catch the Manet exhibition coming up, so we can fit a last one in!
6 - Window shopping in Fortnum and Mason. Feeling posh!
7 - Coffee and cake for DH, iced tea and strawberry sundae for me (hot flushey so need loads of cooling stuff!) at a nearby posh caff.
8 - DH is making tofu vegetable stir fry for dinner.
Overall a wonderful day, full of blessings.
I hope you all have a good night xFinally I'm an OAP and can travel free (in London at least!).0 -
Gosh is hat the time.
Welcome back another cat erina. And newbies.
5 Roadkill of 10p. W8flowers today. Pork pie, yum at 29p. Cheap sour grapes and st Lucia bananas. For the road and free tea. Canna stand coffee and bedsides we do not tax it.
4 & last of articles downloaded to read next week. Keep me going. No tv day six. Tv tax stopped.
3 Net flux trial is so so. Load of carp. So maybe cancel that as well.
2 had to miss the corporation bus today. You do not need the roof somedays, and lydia a met in a house those times back.
1 Nite all0 -
Evening
Caterina - Welcome back
Sparrer - Get well NOW
Skint - Sounds like you had a lovely and well deserved break.
Pleasures for today
1. Popped into town with DD this morning to get a few errands done. Managed to get everything done and not spend too much in the process.
2. Home to a cup of tea and a piece of christmas cake
3. Visited SIL in hospital today, she is still in some post op pain but looking much better and was well enough to have a bit of a strop.
4. Even though late back from the hospital managed to through together a healthy tasty dinner.
Hugs to all who need them0 -
 Caterina
Sparrer, get better quickly. (((Hugs)))
Ampersand, I am truly honoured by the award! On a different note, poor Mrs L - sounds awful - am sending her a hug too.
Five pleasures for Sunday:
1. Unexpected nice pm from another MSE-er.
2. Did bucket-loads more sorting/cleaning/decluttering. Am now sticking little 'Decluttered' labels on things and places in the house that I've competely cleared out (the sort of decluttered that needs no more work on it at all - it's finished) It's making me notice the progress I'm making and is very affirming. Still miles to go but I'm getting there.
3. NSD and NPD again.
4. Got the sewing machine out (I reckon it's at least 60 years old and belongs to my mum but I'm looking after it) and machined the tears in the seams of a pair of pyjama trews. I love using this machine.
5. Baked spuds with tuna, fennel and sweetcorn for supper plus lots of salad. Very good.
Sweet dreams,
B x0 -
Thank you for the get well wishes, in the words of Gloria Gaynor I will survive!
1. nice warm bath this morning, first one for about a year. (I always start the year off clean). DGD1 gave me some bath smellies which wouldn't work in the shower so bath it was.
2. Washed my hair afterwards using free trials of shampoo/conditioner - full sized which is generous for freebies.
3. Overcame my spendthrift moment and packed up all the new bedding/curtains etc which were delivered yesterday, to return to retailer. Also took back the giant tub of emulsion to the DIY store, which means a lot of £s back in the bank. The fresh green and white is very pretty but I do love my deep red and realised I don't want to change it. Also money is very tight atm so I'm sure I'm doing the right thing.
4. DGSs 19th birthday today, DGD2's 16th on Tuesday. Would much rather spend the money on them
5. met with friends at lunchtime but didn't stay long. Two have been kind enough to call/text to make sure I'm okay and are calling again tomorrow. I'm very lucky to have such thoughtful people around me
Sleep tight0 -
Hi , my 5 pleasures today are:
1. little lie in, as school starts tomorrow, so back to early starts
2. lPut last of the Christmas decorations away in loft. Looking forward to getting them out again in 11 months)
3. DS3 scored a fanastic header:beer: in the first football match of the year. Think the lads all played well, considering they must be feeling a little rusty after the 2 week rest.
4. Whilst in the away match town, visited Sainsby and found the coffee syrup Fabia I had been searching for. Vanilla, and tastes devine. Better than anything you can get in Costa coffe shops.
5. Spent a modest £13 and bought ingredients for hearty mince beef casserole with roast spuds, carrots and curly kale. Also got Bleach Spray for 99p (DH has mild OCD and does all the cleaning and gets through tonnes of the stuff. Have tried weening him off it, but just keep out of him way now. He does a fantastic job though, so can't moan too much, lol:rotfl:keep smiling,

Hot drink and pain aux raisins await:-)
More of same:mad: - had just re-posted after disappearance of last night's effort and thanks, only to find this, too, suddenly went.
May catch up later, but can't devote re-do time just now.CAP[UK]for FREE EXPERT DEBT &BUDGET HELP:
