4. Quorn chilli for tea as OH is having duck confit which is not my cup of tea.
5. Gave my neighbour 6 eggs and a work colleague another 6.

No pleasures today as back at work and away from the current Lady Black
Elect went off at work. Hurrah. Last eight weeks work, blah blah, darn. Bu99er come back on again and I has a slaptop. Darn darn darn. If only it did not have a battery.
Good to see most of us well, and I is in Sparrahire again. Might venture out later after the thirst of & recommended downloads.
Welcome Arty and others.
Chickens, that chilli sounds nice, made me think of doing one for LB whens I gets home to the nest.
Sleep tight all, as in hostel, will ale full advantage and dunk in bath. Oooops, that be a pleasure.0 -
Mhagster, have a good journey home.
My five pleasures for Wednesday:
1. Got a shelf emptied from under the stairs. Deep decluttering continues.
2. Went and did a shop that will last until Monday, including visiting my new organic/local farm shop. I've decided that, if I'm stopping the veggiebox, I will try to do all my spending on Mondays focusing it around that shop.
3. Loved watching the second of the Attenborough '60 years' documentaries. The bit where his motor boat is travelling alongside a skein of greylag geese is fantastic. http://www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer/episode/p00zsrqz/Attenborough_60_Years_in_the_Wild_Understanding_the_Natural_World/ It's about four and a half minutes in and only a few minutes long but sooo joyous.
4. Looked at my emails this evening and discovered I'd won something in a competition (my first). I can't use what I've won (I rarely enter competitions where this is the case) but I know exactly the person to give the prize to.
5. Simple supper of omelette and veg - all organic. Yummy.
Sleep well,
B x0 -

Long overdue post on this thread...
1. DD picking up DS from his part time job this evening. It meant i didn't i didn't have to do it.
2.the home-made veg chilli i discovered in the freezer, for DD and DS for tea.
3. For creativity, on bed-bound days. Managed to fill my pocket filofax with diary pages i cut up out of a variety of notepads I already had. Saving me money and giving me something productive when i feel most unproductive!
4. The kettle i have in my bedroom. Enabling me to have regular mugs of tea for refreshment.
5. The new tape/cd player i got for a christmas present, along with the audio books, one of which i am listening to right now as i surf the net.Grocery Challenge for October: £135/£200

Here are my pleasures for today:
1) Lie in.
2) Nice wraps for lunch.
3) Smaller son and MrN's son5 helped me bring a fresh pile of logs in.
4) Phoned the double glazing company and the chap will come out on Sunday and give me a quote for new upstairs windows.
5) Made a shepherds pie with grated carrot in the sauce bit and sweet potatoes in the mash bit for the added nutrients needed after a few days of eating rubbish.
6) Made a couple of "treasure hunts" for sons around the house using post it notes and bigger son did 2 as well.
7) Played on the wii fit.
8) Watching One Born Every Minute though I always wonder why because the births are so medicalised and brutal looking it makes me stressed every time!0 -
Evening
Mhagster - Safe journey home
Katholicos - welcome back
Pleasures for today,
1. Nearly a no spend day but RevolvingDoor led me astray and I bought a book for the Kindle. I did have a voucher from Christmas though so still technically a no spend.
2. First day back to work wasn't too bad though very hard to get up early when OH and DD were still in bed asleep. I remembered to take lunch with me as well.
3. OH and DD helped prepare dinner. I didn't really have a strop to get this to happen, something along the lines of I had been at work all day but still had to come in and do everything:cool:
4. Nice chat with mum on the phone she is still telling everyone what a lovely suprise it was to see us on Christmas day.
5. Getting our Gas and Electricity accounts upto date with readings and doing a comparison on line to find the cheapest tariff as current one ends at the beginning of next month. Just need to decide between 2 suppliers now.
Hugs to all who need them0 -
Reading back over the posts I realised I didn't answer your question RV, sorry. When I leave oil or conditioner on overnight I wear a thin fleece pull-on hat - very becoming! - kept specially for the purpose, and tuck my hair well inside it which isn't difficult as it's very short.
Safe journey mhags and family
Better come clean before my reputation is completely ruined - for call girl read switchboard operator
1. Spent half an hour in the garden before it rained
2. Made plum clafoutis (thank you again Frith) and shared with DNeighbour
3. Advertised my beautiful gold Christmas tree and Victorian decorations on line and had the offer I wanted within half an hour, hopefully to be collected tomorrow. I've bought a pretty little table-top one so don't need the big one any more
4. The declutter has started. Since everything was cleared out of the loft it's been put into the small bedroom, trouble is I can barely get in there now so have begun to sort things into piles. Very little of use and most for the tip, why was I holding on to so much 'stuff'?
5. Invited to speak at a convention in the Spring. It's a great privilege as not many get invited but not so sure it's a pleasure!
Sweet dreams0 -
Haven't been on for a few days because of Internet problems. Going to have a serious telephone call with our provider and go elsewhere, it's been nothing but trouble. They don't know the trauma they have caused, last night Netflix kept cutting out...during Dexter!!! everyone who has seen it will know that it is not the sort of programme where you need the added suspense of random 10 minutes of no Internet, it's intense enough without having to wait even longer to find things out :rotfl:
Anyways my five for the last few days;
1. OH is back at work. I feel terrible that I've put that as a pleasure but it isI can get back to my normal everyday routine and I've missed it so much.
2. The resuming of the routine meant it was hm sausage casserole for tea last night and there is a big batch of hm soup for lunch. Yum!
3. Doctors later. A pleasure as it means I might get myself sorted. Noticed the depressive/self destructive warning signs and so I'm off for some medication I think, counselling alone doesn't seem to be enough at the moment but yay for me for realising and acting now before I go too far under :T
4. A walk with the dog. First time I've been out alone in over a fortnight. I was anxious so the walk itself was less of a pleasure it was the sense of achievement I enjoyed the most.
5. A cup of camomile tea, a posh christmas biscuit and a catch up on MSE. This site and this board in particular brings me such peace and quiet.Comper, Blogger & OS-erCompetition prizes: £6/£20150 -
David Camerons' speech - Oooo, has he resigned?!
LOL
Hello everyone, I'm back - have you missed me??:rotfl:
Happy New 'Ear to all and thank you for your wonderful posts, which I have just caught up with (up with which I have just caught? with which i have just caught up??? <<shrugs>>:D) I hate to single one out as they were all so lovely, but Ampersand's post and poem regarding letting go and kindness struck a chord. I almost heard my mum giving me permission to move on now.
A wonderful time was had by all in Tenerife and here are a few of the pleasures
1. The weather - 22 degrees and sunny and warm most days. Only yesterday stayed cloudy but we were touring the island on our way to the airport so it didn't matter
2. Daylight sticking around till 6.30 - so much better than 4 isn't it?
3. Spending time with OH. SOmetimes in the rush and chaos that can be our daily life, we forget that we married each other for a reason and we like spending time together. Kids were reluctant to do a daily stroll around and MIL couldn't so we got into a habit of a morning perambulate and coffee - or afternoon one with beer. And sometimes both
4. Reasonably priced everything
5. Trip up the volcano - we were above the cloud and it was AMAZING!!
6. MIL enjoying herself and we didn't lose our tempers with her. She makes me laugh, shake my head, hold it in my hands in despair and want to tell her to !!!!!! - sometimes all at the same time. But she is 80 and quite remarkable, and I have been with her for over a week and not been fed up with her at all. I am glad she came
7. The fact that I don't have to take charter flights very often. Had forgotten just how awful they are, cramped noisy, full of drunks and soooo boring. Thank goodness for my kindle, which leads to
8. Reading lots of books - including one fluffy, trashy simplistic "boy meets girl" type of holiday read I would normally be very snobby about. Excellent fun and obtained at the book swap place in the hotel, read, finished and put back. The book swap shelf is better off for our being there - in quantity if not quality.
Not done anything today, house is a tip, I have about 5 loads of laundry to do - if not more. But first a bath, the rest can wait..
Have good days all - and a happy and healthy 2013.
PS - and I have a whole week of Archers to catch up :TI wanna be in the room where it happens0
