    HAPPY NEW YEAR
    1. blue skies and white cloud. amazing
    2. its hasnt rained
    3. last night, but the moon was very big and beautiful
    4. hunt meet in the village today
    5. yesterdays leftovers for dinner so no cooking needed .
  • Big yellow things bin out

5 Do not use the supermarkets this year. Boycott T, S, A, M. MS are no much better. Take cash at £20. And that is it. Basket only. Use your local butcher and baker etc.

4 Turn the Tv off on Monday, till Saturday tea. It only shows tripe and you will not miss it. Come April, ditch it. Film providers and iPlayer need no licence, so save money. Not only that, you will end up playing all & listening list. Yes I has dunloaded Tullys words for next two weeks, thoughs I may be a week or so late.

3 Park at the rear and walk. It is five mins a day, twenty five mins a week in the the free gym.

2 Lugs, one gob. Use it that ratio. Listen and you will gain real friends, gob off and you will lose them.

    Good evening all !

5 for today and a bit of last years

    1. Didn't quite make it to midnight- lovely evening at big bros house with his giant wife and kids . This time last year my nephew could only just about get a squeak out of his xmas gift of a saxophone. This year he did a bit of Glen Miller, Pink Panther and other stuff , without looking at anyone of course because he is a teenager:rotfl:

    2. Lazy day

    3. Mr. blue sky :T no rain .Yippee

    4. Feathers everywhere in the garden as two of the hens are moulting and look like porcupines with their new quills poking through .Added some poultry spice to their mash - smells lovely like aniseed.

    5. OH in a good mood despite binning the cigs. at midnight ... this is becoming an annual thing. Say no more (at least he is trying )

    Have a good evening all!

    1. What was Ladyhawk's sig, 'Man plans and God laughs' I believe..last night's plans scuppered by norovirus, one friend v poorly so stayed in bed. Other friend's dog also v poorly and she didn't want to leave him so we debunked to her house for the evening complete with bags of food hastily packed up. The pleasure was in stil having an evening with friends and the arrangements just being shuffled rather than cancelled
    2. Opened the curtains this morning to the most beautiful warm sunshine. Just stood and let the heat warm me - til I remembered I wasn't dressed yet and the neighbours would see me in my wincyette jimmes. very attractive :D
    3. Then looked down at my car, which instead of being parked nose on to the house was almost sideways in the drive. The joys of all the street lights being out, but bet the neighbours all think I was !!!!!! :rotfl:
    4. Went round the house and opened windows in every room to let the New Year blow its fresh air in
    5. nsd/npd/doing nothing but the essentials today. Starting as I mean to go on ;)

    Have a good evening :)

    Evening all.

artydoll - that's great news about your son - what a relief!

ampersand - I do have a W'rose card, but my local branch doesn't have a cafe so no free coffee for me. :(

I'm struggling for pleasures today as I'm still feeling dreadful - this cold seems to be getting worse rather than better, and now I've got my usual dreadful cough to go with it. smiley-sick010.gif

    1) Sunshine - much appreciated even if I wasn't feeling in any fit state to venture out in it.

    2) My spiraea (sp? - it's the plant with little white flowers, anyway) has buds on it already, and looks like it's had a very localised snow shower over it.

    3) Had my usual New Year brunch - smoked salmon sarnies (SO salmon, of course :money:) with a glass of RTC bucks fizz. The smoked salmon was a bit pointless as I couldn't taste it, but the cold fizz was wonderfully soothing to my poor sore throat.

    4) It was meant to be an NSD today, but I decided to order a big bag of cat litter and a new water bowl for mog while both were on offer. I just hope this bowl lasts longer than the last one, which broke when I dropped a bottle of chilli sauce on it.

    5) Really fancy curry for dinner - presumably because it's about the only thing I might be able to taste - and suddenly remembered I have some packet sauces, from AF, sitting in the cupboard, so I can have what I fancy. :j

Hooray, I found five! Have a nice evening, all, and a good day at work for those going back tomorrow: I'm meant to be back but, unless I stage a miraculous recovery in the next twelve hours or so, I don't think that will be happening, which I guess is a #6 of sorts!
Back after a very long break!

Salut! to all for the first time this year-

    1. Prompted to this as Chapter 19 of Ms Rimington is suddenly in the Fitzwilliam and Trumpington Street and is picking up rather. I'd looked at opening hours for Botanic Gardens and the Fitz. first thing, only to find both were closed. Fair enough, so...

    2. Ended up with Thermos and another Middle of Nowhere lost in Quy and big mud walking, massive turves catching light, recalling always this of Hopkins:
    http://www.poets.org/viewmedia.php/prmMID/20311

    3. Stayed bright and sunny, wind chill high, so back by 16h-ish, in time to bring another NZ book box in. Spits prep. again demain.

    4. SOS night could have been worse, although 1st talk-down, a jumper, came down, then slept on bus. The economy bites as did fine sharp icy grêle later. A couple of drafted in out-of-town police claimed credit via their rain dance. Chatted with 2 good wpc's, both young, normal girly, more than attractive. One's had 3 years' service, other - 4. What I like is their simple at-a-loss-ness when I asked if they were following family in the Force. 'No, no-one could believe it's what I wanted to do' was pretty much the reply from both. Other chipped in 'Ever since I was little, it's all I ever wanted to be...' Then, somewhere between shy and self-conscious 'Just wanted to try and do something good, make a difference really' and her colleague was nodding head in vigorous agreement. 'That's me too - EXACTLY the same. Makes it sound a bit do-goody I suppose. But it's all I ever wanted, despite all the changes - and even in 4 years, I've seen lots, especially this last year. It's harder for the older ones and they should let us get on with the job, like tonight.' Need more like these.

    5. A call received - much better tone and proud of stance after other day's business. I was glad to truthfully say I was putting up their calendar when I'd heard phone.

    6. SOS bus screen showing countdown from start of evening through to fireworks bursting in frosty sky at midnight. Thoughts of family who started their deux mille treize at noon and others, one by one. Back here to my own sense of Nouvel An by 5.
    ##########
CCP - same at Bury St E, which astounded me, big Branch as it is. Yours doesn't even have a take-out facility?

As may be inferred, I'm in bed with book already. Need to regulate after last night. Long-hauler em, then back to book.

artydoll - thankyou for sharing this. Some things stop you in your tracks and make you pause. dv your son has no further effects.

    Pleasures to New Years Day.

    1) Lie in! Bigger son woke at 10, smaller son at 11.

    2) Made some wraps for lunch.

    3) Quick game of football on the village hall car park with smaller son.

    4) Made special fried rice for tea. Had rice left from yesterday's curry so just cooked it up with some chicken, prawns, peppers and peas. Got tonnes of blackberries left in the freezer so made a clafoutis with those. We ate a whole flan dish full!

    5) Just watched "Up" with sons in front of the stove.

I enjoyed all that collective candlelight! :D

RevolvingDoor, I agree completely about the word pudding!
artydoll, that is a massive pleasure:j Hope your DS continues to be fine.
    CCP, Get Well Quickly.

    My pleasures for Tuesday:

    1. Like you, BoP, we had that big yellow, round thing hovering above us all day as well. Lots of sports kit was aired on the line.

    2. Tons and tons of shredding done. I will get to the end of it one day, I really will! Little shredder is still hanging on in there. I really ought to give it (no, her, I'm sure it's a she) a name.

    3. Threw a tin of sweet corn into last night's left over pasta sauce to bulk it up and made pasta again for the DSs. I just had the veggie sauce/stew bit with some cheese. Think it was better the day after - v tasty.

    4. Nice chat with my dad on the phone.

    5. DSs being friendly and cheerful and cooperative all day, despite neither of them going out - oh and that meant we had a NSD and NPD as well.

    Sweet dreams,

    B x

    Evening

    CCP - Get well NOW
Artydoll - Great news about your son and hope he stays well.

    Pleasures for today,
    1. Sun shining today so got some washing dried on the line
    2. My dad gave us some money for a family meal out so we decided to treat ourselves today and had a yummy meal at the local golf club. Not sure how much my dad thinks we spend on meals out but we didn't even use a 1/3rd of what he gave us. The rest I am going to bank as will help cover the cost of christmas trip to see them.
    3. Popped into the inlaws and SIL even though still feeling very ill looked much better than she did.
    4. MIL invited us for dinner on Saturday, we are having chinese so I will make a few bits to take over.
    5. DD making me a cup of tea and having a piece of RTC christmas cake with it.

Back to work tomorrow, not looking forward to having to get up early especially as OH and DD still have the rest of the week off.

What great news for you and your family artydoll x

    1.-100. DD is back :)

    2. NSD - first of many this year I hope!

    3. Keep your fingers crossed - but I'm hoping to be given a new dishwasher from someone on freeegle to replace mine which has just belched out all the water over the kitchen floor :( I can't afford a new one and then lo and behold, one has been offered, available for collection tomorrow!

    4. My parents are here and they love the new kitchen too :)

    5. Made scrummy dinner for us all and we have drunk wine.

    6. Party last night was great fun, and not drunken or too silly (unless you call having races with wind-up santas silly ;) ).

    7. Stayed up late chatting on FB to a lovely chum, you know who you are!! :)

    8. My daddykins fixed a problem with my tumble drier, yay so "saved" money there, thanks to judicious use of gaffer tape :)
