Good Evening everybody  - at last all that 'drippy rain' has stopped and there is a lovely silence outside :).

newlywed - Good Luck for tomorrow with your redundancy update. If the worst does happen, please remember that it's your job that will have been made redundant NOT YOU PERSONALLY - so don't let it 'get at you'. Hope all goes well with the on-line job application - HSbearhugblinkie1.gif for tomorrow.
CCP - maybe your colleague has now got used to jokes about 'her team' - Lord knows, I've got used to hearing them about Liverpool recently - MOST of them coming from fellow supporters ;). Great to still have flowers on your Christmas Cactus.
sparrer - glad you found the link useful - not had the chance to watch it myself yet. I'm coming up to 20yrs service in September this year ;) - but, as I posted a few weeks ago, think I've now reached my own 'burn-out' point. Too many of my tenants are younger than me and I don't like the way the job's going. It's no longer the same job that I applied for in 1990 - sad to say. One of my colleagues is due for her 30yrs Service Award on Thursday, but she can now retire whenever she chooses as she's turned 61.
Muppet81 - cooeee  - lovely to see you again . I've just googled the book you mentioned and it sounds good - I'll keep my eyes open for it.
Caterina - wd you on going for your mammogram and really good of your DD to accompany you :T - my DSis calls it the 'squashy boobs' appointment ;).
bella - :T on finishing the sewing up for your cardigan and  for the Carrot and Coriander Soup.
mollythewestie - those drawers become real 'hidey-holes' don't they - wd on finding your two cross-stitch kits and hope you enjoy doing them :). wtg to your DH on sorting out the calls/letters etc.
ACEY - wd on chatting to DS1's teacher - always best for them to know if there's changes to kid's regular routines. lol at how you 'somehow volunteered' to act as school librarian - these teachers really have the knack of doing that to you ;). I once went in school to hand in a forgotten PE kit and came back out as 'Parent Governor'.
GirlySquare - how lovely to work in an environment where you have such great colleagues :j.
nuttybabe - oooooo at your no.2 - promise of lovely salad crop for the summer - well done you :T.
DitaBombita - congrats on your nsd and on sticking to your diet - always help when you've got somebody to help motivate you :j:j.
Ladyhawk - wd on speaking to your boss and standing up for yourself :T - sounds as though it's cleared the air - hope she took all you said on board and thinks about her attitude. Good to hear that Toupe is showing signs of improvement cat.gif.
Kittikins - wtg you on sticking to your diet and managing a swim.gif despite your back problem. Good luck with DD in the bed tonight ;).
Tealady - wd on walking to/from work and putting the money in the savings tin :T and on the 'extra pressie' towards Christmas ;).
scotrae - lol at your freezer - sounds exactly like mine :rotfl:. My OH is a 'Shameless' addict too - of course he's now on to watching the next week's episode on cable in advance ;). and yup - I shout at Jamie as well - though I have to admit that I love his current Sainsbury's adverts - especially the one where the little girl opens the door and closes it again .
jollymummy - wd on sorting out your paperwork mountain today. We haven't had any more snow today - hope it keeps away from here this time.

I'm going to leave my own till the morning again.

Hope everybody gets a good night's sleep and has a great MSE/OS day tomorrow - love Ollie xxx

you're so right Ollie, when I started in '89 we bathed the residents, assisted with meds and packages for anyone just out of hospital. When I left in '04 we were merely pen pushers, hands-on was fazed out over time to agencies. All in the name of progress, of course :(

    My 5

    1. Would have been a nsd but had to get a key cut for my front door. Two little sh1ts  tried to jemmy DNeighbour's front door, luckily another neighbour came home from work and disturbed them before they got in, thank God. Being lazy I never use the second lock on my front door but that was what stopped them breaking into hers, hence my buying another key for mine so I have one hidden in the house and one on my keyring which will now be used every time I go out.

    2. Re No1 the Police now have names (two teenage druggies, unbelievable in this quiet little backwater) so it won't be long before they're in front of the magistrate. Let's just hope he or she doesn't pat them on the head and sent them off to Disneyland for a holiday

    3. On a brighter note I'm taking DD shopping in the morning, she's having a few good days :) so we're going out while she can

    4. Quite a good viewing evening, Amanda Holden training to be a stunt woman, looked lots of fun. Later My Child Won't Speak, some sad tales but all with good prospective outcomes.

    5. The washing has just finished and is draped over radiators and clothes horse so I can get into my warm, snuggly bed and go to sleep :D

Night night n God bless, sweet dreams and (((hugs))) to everyone

    Morning All!

Tried to do this last night, but fell asleep, .......

    Finally sitting down!

    5 pleasures today

    1. Having a read of the posts on here and catching up with what everone has been doing today. Lol at Ollies post , always cheers me up! (Didn't see the moon setting Ollie. Probably in mcdonalds eating breakfast!).
    2. Brushing the dog. Her coat is all soft and a huge lump of fur has gone in the bin. Probably the equivalent of a small yorkshire terrier!! Very satisfying knowing we will not have to vacuum that up!
    3. Quick tea of Spaghetti Bolognaise made from mince cooked at the weekend, a jar of sauce and extra veg etc. All eaten. (Semi OS?).
    4. ( Here I fell asleep zzzzzzzzzzzzzzz ) NSD.
    5. Gave head of maths a lift home after late meeting. He is so lovely. Always has amusing anecdotes and makes the journey go much quicker. :A

Have a great OS day. Love and hugs.

Morning all :hello: - everywhere dry and very 'crisp' outside this morning. Strangely quiet as well for this time of day. Just wondering what's happened to our local 'workies' - not like them to be idle at 8.00am.

sparrer - we've never had to bathe any tenants (though I have assisted on one occasion through necessity) and I have been involved with meds (against wishes of Line Manager) when tenants haven't understood about the need to re-order in time/take regularly/space out painkillers and antibiotics. I cannot sit by and refuse help/advice to elderly people who don't realise the importance of diabetic/BP/heart/anti's medications. Neither can I sit by and not make a cup of tea/sandwich for somebody whose carer hasn't turned up on time - again contrary to instructions. Did you work in a place where they were all in their own homes - or was it a large building with everybody in flats/bedsits/apartments? I've got 4 houses/14 apartments/23 bungalows where I live and another 9 houses/4 apartments/15 bungalows just over a mile away - a total of 69 properties with 88 tenants - when I started the job, I had 40 flats with a small community centre for socialising.
Narrow escape there, hun - scarey thought that they could so easily have targetted YOUR house instead of neighbour. Good to hear that your DD is a little better and you're both able to get out together :).
bunny too - rotten luck about your main TV - another expense :( - those cream cheese and ginger sarnies sound  - bet that cheese is very cooling with the ginger :). Best of luck with the £4k challenge :T.
Hardup Hester - great sewing machine bargain for your DD :j. Your no.5 is one of the reasons why I've enjoyed 'working solo' for 25yrs - I can't abide pettiness in the workplace - why can't people just agree to disagree :).
house elf - saw this and thought of you . wtg on turning your weekend mince into quick spag bol for last night :T.

    Mine for yesterday:

    1. Quiet work day - no major problems :j.

    2. Phone calls from DD with questions about my 'out-laws' - she's decided to do some family history research and signed up for Ancestry.co.uk - advised her to speak to her Dad and/or his brothers but she said he can't remember anything. This is such a big breakthrough for her - I've never known her to take up a hobby or interest of any kind before. A couple of months ago, I was advising her to try to find a hobby, or something else, to help take her mind off her problems and give her other things to think about :j.

    3. OH went shopping and came back with some bargains for the freezers.

    4. Booked our holiday for mid-May banana.gif- Scottish Highlands here we come . OH is already planning his climbs!

    5. Spotted the Library Van visiting us yesterday - very often miss it, if I'm out and about the scheme. Needed to 'sign-up' again, as I'm not on the new computer records. Can have up to 20 books from them each visit - wasn't greedy, just got 3 for now. Will get some names of thrift/cookery books and see about ordering them .

    6. Evening meal of diced turkey with diced onions, crushed garlic, sliced peppers, mushrooms, sweetcorn - all cooked with cayenne, paprika, mild chilli powder, mixed herbs, chives. Tin of chopped toms added and then a 'glug' of sweet chilli dipping sauce stirred in at the last minute. Served it with pasta - one of OH's favourite meals. Even got leftovers for jacket spuds another day - now in freezer :).

That's me done for now - better go and see what today's going to bring. speak again later - love Ollie xxx

To be fair, she did apologise afterwards - apparently her brother (who also works in the office) had been teasing her all week, and it was just one joke too many. There's a lot of us Pompey supporters in the office so, like you, we've mostly got used to the jokes by now (I'm obviously in no position to comment on Liverpool! ;))
Back after a very long break!

    My five for today:

    1. dd3 going off to school happily despite having chopped the end off her finger and still wanted to train for the netball tournament - she's only 8 bless her!

    2. dd2 making quiche at school yesterday and trying it despite the fact she really dislikes eggs - she didn't actually like it much, but she gave it a go!

    3. My new phone is due to arrive today, for me a contract is cheaper and it was time to upgrade. Looking forward to playing with it when it finally gets here!

    4. My kittens wrapping themselves around my ankles as I make tea every morning now, they were almost feral when we got them and used to spend most of their time hiding or hissing at us!

    5. I'm relearning how to crochet and loving it! Though I do keep returning to my knitting needles as I already know how to use them and it's easier!
