    :TWell done Scotrae:j:beer:

    Evening all -

hope you have had a good day.

Mine has been good and not so good - the washing machine died... and now has the vacuum cleaner... so I'll have to take that in to be fixed next weekend. I had to get up early to pick up a colleague before heading into London for a meeting. The traffic was dreadful and it took two hours... it should have taken half that! Unfortunately the company that her husband works for went into administration over the weekend and he has been made redundant. Poor man.

    1) Chatting to my colleague - though she had some bad news it was nice to have a proper catch up since I get on very well with her.

    2) Going out for a cheap lunch with another colleague and it was nice to catch up with him.

    3) My cleaner has been and the flat looks sparkling! She didn't have time to do the ironing though...

    4) Picked up a couple of things that had been donated to me on freecycle - some jam jars to make preserves etc and a signal booster for my TV which has sistinctly dodgy reception.

    5) Being grateful that I have everything I need (except a working washing machine and hooover!)

Have a great night everyone - Scotrae - enjoy the celebrations!
    Man plans and God laughs...
Perhaps travel cannot prevent bigotry. But by demonstrating that all people cry, laugh, eat, worry and die, it introduces the idea that if we try to understand each other, we may even become friends.

    Evening everyone.

    Mine for today:
    1. Lovely chicken curry with noodles for dinner followed by some reduced profiteroles:drool:
    2. No spend day today:T
    3. Caught up with most of the ironing this morning, it seems to be a never ending job in our house.
    4. Staying in the office at lunch time hence no.2 and reading my book for an hour.
    5. Looking forward to a nice hot shower and an early night. We were up in the night as some foxes decided to have s&x in our garden. OMG they make so much noise

Hugs to all who need them.

Hmm, today's been only OK rather than great like the weekend *sigh*. Hope I can get to 5......

    1. Tried and struggled/failed to be "good" with food choices, grrr. Oh well, at least I've not had any chocolate ;) Feeling fat, frumpy and fed up now so think an early night is in order!

    2. Went for my second swim at lunchtime since hurting my back, yippee!! Hoping to go again tomorrow.

    3. DD read her book beautifully for me this evening, I think I'm going to sneakily take her a book in the next level tomorrow as she really is whizzing through the current level.

    4. Need to relax and appreciate the fact I have a beautiful daughter, a nice house (if only I could be bothered to keep it tidy), some good friends, family support, a job, just wish I could be more emotionally stable at times!

Oh well, got 4, tomorrow will feel better I'm sure. Night all x

    Hi All,

Scotrae -fab news about the job! I'm soooo pleased for you :T:j:beer:
Gosh I'm tired now! Can I remember 5 from today?

    1. Snow was beautiful in the moonlight on the way to swimming pool this morning.

    2. One of my colleagues telling me that one of the boys in my class had written that I make him feel 'positive'.

    3. Devising a lesson on 'comparing' based on the 'Phineas and Ferb' cartoon. The kids think I'm bonkers, but I don't care cos it amused me!!:rotfl:

    4. Taking my new Cath Kidston lunch bag to school. (Most excellent birthday present!).

    5. Trip to Home Bargains and Mr A after work to return a couple of items and finding lots of 'woopsies'.

Hugs to all who need them and another 'Yeay' to Scotrae.

    G'night x

    My five for today:

    1. Bright sunny day here in Bristol.

    2. Yummy spicy lentil soup for lunch, made in the slow cooker, and plenty left over for the freezer.

    3. Hearing that my next two foster cats will be arriving on Wednesday - can't wait to welcome Penny and Gizmo!

    4. Having someone from the council come round to assess my mum's finances with a view to getting her care home fees paid for. It's only taken since last April...

    5. Long chat on the phone with a friend, comparing notes about the trials and tribulations of internet dating.
Life is not a dress rehearsal.

Thank you all - again! I think I have a sense of how Beyonce felt when she had to make 6 speeches after the Grammys last night. (That and the voluptuous 'booty' - any similarities end there!)

    1. DH coming home from work for a late lunch. He had the last of my leek and potato soup and I had cheese on toast, so pretty OS. As soon as he started to look at the calendar I knew he was going to start saying about the list of things I'd need to work through before starting the job - so I told him to shut up for the second time today and he took it in good spirits (because he knew that I knew exactly what he was about to say!).

    2. Going to Lidl then Tesco to get groceries and because I was running ahead of schedule I treated myself to a coffee in Tesco and got my notebook out for some lists!

    3. Getting the biggest bloomers I'd ever seen (loaves that is - not the knee-length ones that my old headteacher used to have on show under the teacher's desk in the 70s!) marked down to only 39p each, taking some of each type out in a bag for the next 24 hours and freezing the rest.

    4. Picking my boys up from school to find they'd both done their homework and had a good day. They were both very excited to hear my news, particularly as I'd bought Lidl's lovely choc chip cookies to celebrate!

    5. Bursting the foil seal on a jar of coffee with a spoon and sniffing hard as the aroma escaped. (Does that sound odd? Please own up if you do it too! It's just something I've always done, since Mum used to get the wholesale tins of coffee granules.)

It's good to be getting back to being able to appreciate the simple pleasures in life. What a difference a day makes!

    5 for today!

    Had a very easy day...

    1) Went to Hereford with my mum. Went round the 2nd hand shops and got a cardie and T shirt. I wear my clothes (have my favourites) until they are literally falling apart so I really needed T shirts (could do with 3 or 4 really). I wonder why T shirts are never long enough though?

    2) Also had lunch in my favourite cafe in Hereford.

    3) Good Housekeeping magazine arrived in the post. My school friend buys me a subscription every Christmas.

    4) Got all cleaning and washing done up to date.

    5) Boys quite happy when they got in, played nicely together and went to sleep reasonably quickly.

    That's about it for today!

Good evening everybody  - brrrrrr it's been cold here today and very 'drippy' outside at the moment. The frozen hailstones from this morning all got washed away :j. Thank you everybody for kind comments on my cakes - all down to the beautifully clear recipes posted by GirlySquare (Gingerbread Cake) and Sandy2 (Lemon Drizzle).

newlywed - good luck with your job application :). Sorry to hear that you've got to represent your dad at a neighbour's funeral, but I'm sure he would be very proud to know that you're going to be there for HIM. Good Luck to you and OH with your finances re-shuffle.
scotrae - how lovely that your feathered friends are rewarding you kindness of feeding them with lots of visitors to your garden this morning . woooooowooooooo on the job offer :j - wd you :T.
aplaceinthesun - lovely to see you back again  - good to hear that your little dog is 'back to norma'l ;) - and wd at getting your mystery shopping assignments completed :j. wd on donating your old van to the Dog Charity like that :T
Louba - six mile run  - are you in training for something? awwww at the baby deer.
Tealady - wd on keeping under budget with the shopping this month :T and wtg on your marathon baking session this weekend . another nsd :j and hope you get a good night's sleep - you could try a bucket of water on those foxes - cheeky bgrs ;).
Caterina - You've mentioned your Sucking Eggs book a couple of times now, so I've just googled it and ordered from Amazon - sounds fabulous - thanks for the heads-up on it :T. wd on your marmalade making :).
Patchwork - wd to you and OH on having some time together - difficult to do with a grown-up family and hope you all enjoyed your family evening meal tonight :).
nuttybabe - awwww at your dd tidying up without being asked - maybe she thought you might take her back for another pre-school jab ;). lol at your OH over the exercise machine :rotfl:.
GirlySquare - sounds like they have great fun in Lowestoft - wonder if any of our OS'ers live close enough to go along ;).
Mr Lahey - Good Luck to you and your family - have looked for somewhere to vote, but can't see anything - is there a link of any kind?
aaah GirlySquare beat me to the question ;).
bella - good to see that Mr Hollowlegs enjoyed your Blackberry and Apple Crumble - what is it with these kids who can eat for England and remain slender ;).
Ladyhawk - omg both the washing machine and the vacuum cleaner AT THE SAME TIME  - now that is definitely not fair . But some great freecycling there .
Kittikins - sometimes there's only one thing for it when dieting and that is to go to bed to avoid calorie-temptation! Have you tried brushing your teeth when you feel the need to eat the wrong things? I used to find that I loved the feeling of lovely clean teeth/mouth so much that I didn't want to eat/drink anything afterwards. Wd to you DD on her reading :T.
house elf - Did you have the beautiful moon-set this morning? It was gorgeous here - we're on a hill and the moon was setting down towards Liverpool - we have a clear view since the houses were demolished. Wd on your HB bargains and Mr A whoopsies :T.
savingforoz - good luck with Penny and Gizmo and hope all goes well for your mum with the financial assessment.
scotrae - lol at the memories of school teachers' bloomers - my teachers were like that too :rotfl:. Erm - doesn't EVERYBODY love to be the first to open the new jar of coffee and sniff it - I even hide the new jar where OH can't find it, to stop HIM from doing it before me :o.
ACEY - I have the same trouble with T-shirts too - I'm 5-10 and love them long-line, but they're so hard to find. I've made myself a couple of loose-fitting v-neck style tops and lengthened them to exactly the right length - will have to do some more . One of our charity shops sometimes has copies of GoodHousekeeping, but they go very quickly - lucky you on having a subscription as a pressie.
    zarazara - cooeee .
jollymummy - wd on sticking to your shopping list and how thoughtful to make a Wedding Sampler for your niece - I'm sure she'll treasure it.

That's me done for now - off to bed as I overslept this morning. Will post my own tomorrow. Nitey nite - (((((HUGS))))) to all who need them - love Ollie xxx
