Thanks to everyone for their very kind words. You're all stars, my virtual friends! I think I'm feeling more positive today, so far, so I'm focussing with a stock take of recent pleasures:

    1. We woke to a very fine dusting of snow, which was frozen solid to the cars. And with it, the little flock of long-tailed tits has just descended on our garden again and is busily working their way across, checking branches and hidey holes for cobwebs and protein! Two have gone straight to the bare branch which I'd moulded a lard/oats mix on to weeks ago when they last came. To cap it all, the thrush has just re-appeared too. Funny how they come back with the snow.

    2. Ironing on my new car boot bargain board was a pleasure yesterday. It's so nicely padded and I don't have to stop every time I move garments to rearrange the cover. It's nice and tall too ... everything's done in half the time.

    3. Getting on the scales this morning and being a good couple of pounds lighter than last time - although it could just be that I jumped off so quickly again when DH walked into the room! Stress doesn't seem to knock the weight off me anymore but perhaps now Christmas and birthday cakes and chocs are gone I can pick a little less.

    4. Watching 'Mo' on TV last night. I thought Julie Walters was as brilliant in acting the role as Dr Mowlam was in character. Reminded me that sometimes we don't even appreciate the things we should be grateful for just because the alternative hasn't happened to us, IYKWIM.

    5. Cooking my menfolk a proper breakfast this morning to send them out.

Now I'm spending too long looking online and researching the shopping lists and food plans for this week, with a nice new notebook on hand. Fresh week, fresh month, fresh start ... hopefully.
  • Hi all

I did join in here at the beginning of January but failed to keep posting.... being the first of the month again I thought I would give it another go ... !

Heres mine for the past weekend

    1. One of my dogs had been a little poorly last week , had strained himself, but Saturday saw him fighting fight and back to being a 'monster' again !

    2. Good shopping day on Saturday, stocked up fridge / freezer and cupboards but didnt spend loads, just about everything we bought was on offer ! (M&S , Morrisons, etc)

    3. Got all 7 mystery shopping assignments done that I had to do and the bonus being did them in DH's works van for which he doesnt pay fuel for ! Good result , more pennies for us!

    4. Shopping around for one of DD's birthday pressies and managing to get it cheaper in a different shop.

    5. Apart from the dog being better this one gave me and DH lots of pleasure ..... DH put his old (but in good working order) Fiesta van on Freecycle and a local dog charity snapped it up. We were pleased to offer it on there and felt charitable doing so but for it to go to such a worthy cause where it will be soooo much use was a fantastic feeling. We are also going to try and help the charity out in other ways too!

Have a good day everyone. x

2 - managing to run to six miles and feeling grateful that I'm fit and strong enough to do that
3 - OH scraped my car for me this morning!!
4 - having great friends and a wonderful OH
5 - almost getting to the bottom of the in tray :)

    Morning all,

Tried to post earlier but lost the post:mad:.
Acey - I hope your Grandma is ok and on the mend soon
Ollie - Your cakes looked lovely and make my efforts look a bit pitiful

My pleasures for the last couple of days:
    1. Food shopping coming in under budget again this week plus I managed to buy a new electric mixer as part of the spend.
    2. Baking day yesterday so lots of goodies for the packed lunches this week - Lemon cupcakes, breakfast muffins, sausage rolls, breaded chicken pieces and some spring rolls.
    3. Lovely couple of hours of peace and quiet yesterday in which I read a book with a cup of tea and piece of chocolate cake.
    4. Cup of tea and lovely catch up with MIL. Haven't seen each other for a couple of weeks so nice to catch up plus invited them out to dinner next weekend as OH birthday
    5. Chatting on the phone with SIL and letting her know we are having a party for parents Golden Wedding. She was really pleased we are doing it and knew it would be something my brother would have wanted to do as well.

Hugs to all who need them

    Someone pinch me please!

    I've just had a surreal phonecall.:D
Following up on last week's interview
And offering me the bloomin' job! :j

Hopefully my new boss won't be trying to find a way to retract that as I type on account of me being so frank and telling him how /why gobsmacked I was! :rotfl:

I've just rung DH with the news. First thing he said - "What are the figures again?" Then "How soon will they review that?" Then "How flexible are they on childcare?"

I told him to shut up and just try to imagine how happy I am that I've got a job. I'm not about to start quibbling over it or tell them that a closer, even more perfect, home-based job has come up since and I'd like to see if I can get that one before accepting theirs! I've just got a job!

OK - Hester's hubby and now me. Newlywed - it's your turn! Good things come in threes. Get that application in and keep the faith!

Even if you don't want the job, at least you can now have the confidence that you can get a job and that should boost your confidence no end :D and give you reason to hold out for the job that's just right for you ;)

Hoping it's either me or hubby soon :o I have just sent in my CV for the PA job. My experience isn't PA specific but lots of other experience that can only support that role. Wait and see :o

Thanks - and it absolutely is a job that I want and feel so lucky to have a chance at. It's exactly the sort of thing I wanted all those years ago when I first left uni and I've taken a very roundabout route getting the experience to equip me for it.

I've just deleted all the other waffle I was about to post but just thanks!
And hugs to those who still need them. I feel as though I hit rock bottom over the past few days but 2010 starts here!:T
