Evening all
Hope the op goes well for your cousin Caterina
My pleasures for today...
1. A nice lie in until 11am
2. Lovely sunshine all day though freeeeeeezzzzzzzing cold - my favourite kind of day
3. Just pottering around the house, DH doing some diy, kids playing and me on laptop between bursts of housework
4. Roast chicken with all the trimmings, the chicken, sweet pots, carrot and swede were given to us, only cost us for the mash, broccoli and stuffing :j
5. A nice vodka and tonic tonight when kids in bed and me and DH snuggle up and watch Shameless on Sky+
oh and gotta add a 6th - Have booked our holiday today and paid cash in full :T its for 7 nights at the Parkdean site near Great Yarmouth, we haven't had a holiday since before we had DS so can't wait
Hope everyone has had a nice weekend
Kate xxx0 -
I'm intrigued by Nella Last now, so many people have been mentioning it, so think I need to see if the library aunties have it
Mine for today, now I'm settled down in front of Legally Blonde with my candles alight :
1. Had a VERY early night with DD yesterday, about 7:30pm as she said her head was hurting and I wanted to keep an eye on her....well, we both fell asleep very quickly, I must have needed it!
2. Watched Charlotte's Web on DVD in bed with DD this morning
3. Free lunch at Nando'$ (scrummy veggie burgers as we don't eat meat) as I won a voucher entitling me to 2 meals. DD was most impressed
4. Did a Reverbe and found 2p whilst out
5. The flowers that DD "bought" me yesterday are beautiful and are so scented, nicer than any perfume
6. Yummy ys bread in Mr W this afternoon for DD's packed lunches
7. Hairdye on special offer, no more badger look for me
8. I weeded the front flower bed, nearly filling my garden waste wheelie bin! DD and I then picked out some lovely flower seeds from our box of seeds that we'll plant out in March
9. My to do list for the weekend is nigh on done, just a few things left that really I shouldn't do with a bad back....taking a chest of drawers to the dump and putting a 6ft Xmas tree up into the loft being two of them. Sometimes I do need a man about the house!
All in all, a lovely weekend, here's hoping the week shapes up to be even better.0 -
Hope your cousin's op goes well Caterina
Mine for today:
1) tea in bed
2) dd having a lie-in this morning, bad mother's club here I come
3) putting both slow-cookers on and making shedloads of stock wtih the seven (yes really seven) chicken carcasses that were in the freezer
4) getting four new nitro-filled Michelin tyres fitted and balanced from Costco for £269.73 using a 20% discount voucher. Although it's expensive that's one more big motoring expense out of the way. And shopping for batch-cooking chicken, beef, cheese plus toiletries whilst the tyres were being fitted
5) ordering online Tesco shop for next two weeks about £50 according to My Supermarket and using 200 points online voucher"We have to be kind because everyone is fighting a great, great battle" - Sir Richard Attenborough
"There is a special place in hell for women who don't help other women" - Madeleine Albright0 -
Evening All,
A quick 5 for today, as I need to have an early night. DD has early swim tomorrow.
1. Clean kitchen and bathroom. (Had to clean the bathroom after we had showered the dog:rotfl:).
2. Trip to new Mr T shop to buy opening offers and use Mr A voucher. Now have 80 litres of corn oil (50p litre), to supplement Diesel in my car. :money:
3. DS2 and little friends playing nicely all day and eating all of their lunch.
4. Making chocolate crispy cakes and banana muffins using up out of date coco pops and 3 squishy bananas. (Nigella up to her usual standards today!:T)
5. Bought some things from the 2nd hand stall in the market yesterday.Tried them on today and am very pleased with my swag! DS1 gave seal of approval to a jumper and cardigan we got for him too. Result!:j
Scotrae Well done for recognising how you are feeling. Sending you lots of virtual hugs. Hope it passes quickly.:(
Night Night X0 -
Scotrae - sorry to hear you are feeling down at the moment. I've had depression for a long time, only getting treatment for it from 2006 onwards. Its so annoying and draining, hope you feel better soon. Changing the subject somewhat, have you had the snow flurries too???
5 for today!
1) Thought I was on top of the housework then found little son (a bit of a hoarder) had hidden half a flapjack under MY pillow! A nasty, buttery stain had soaked through the fitted sheet, woolly blanket under the fitted sheet and on to the mattress :-S so a little bit more laundry to do today. Not sure why this is one of my 5 good things for today but I did see the funny side. It must be one of his autistic traits, I'm always finding orange peel and Babybel wrappers in strange places.
2) Got a few jobs done and brought a lot more logs in while the boys were visiting their father.
3) Had a very peaceful afternoon watching the television and chatting to the boys.
4) My school friend came for tea, I made chicken curry and she brought a reduced box of Quality St she saw in Sainsburys. :-)
5) Had a couple of phone calls with my sister and we shall be going out for tea with her on Wednesday.
6) Also spoke to my mum and we shall be having a day out together in Hereford tomorrow, weather permitting. Shall do the 2nd hand shops and go to the Cathedral. I do wish the bead shop was still there.
L
Some sad news today is that my Grandma fell over yesterday and has chipped a bone in her hip. (or chipped a bit of bone off her hip bone). She is nearly 93 and fairly senile and I hope being shaken up and confused by where she is isn't going to make her go downhill. She is on a drip so she won't get dehydrated but the visiting hours are very limited (lots of norovirus about too). Mum and dad went to visit for an hour today but she didn't wake up at all while they were there. Strange to think that, 3 years ago, she was running her house, looking after Grandad 24 hours a day and would think nothing of popping up to the shops or cooking a meal for us if we went round.0 -
Evening all  - Luckily yesterday's snow has mostly gone around here now - phew!
Kittikins - Give me a minute to hunt down the corkscrew - and I'll be ready for you. Sounds like you and DD have had a great weekend - despite her bumps on the head. Shame about the local library - can you get some of the users to sign a petition about how they want it kept open - might help to speak to some of the mums at the school as well. Sometimes local authorities threaten to close amenities to see what public reaction would be - you may just stand a chance of fighting to keep it open. How lovely for you and DD to spend time planning your garden for springtime - won't be long now :j.
Reverbe - Lots going on in your week there :j - wtg on getting another Focus Group.
scotrae - sorry to hear that you got so 'down' but it's as well that your OH knows so he has some idea of how you're feeling -for you. I once told my OH that I'd seen a baby magpie in our garden - he had a look and called me 'all the divvies under the sun'. It was a wagtail - has never let me live it down since
. wd on your 'new'
! Good luck with your plans for a car boot sale of your own
.
GirlySquare - That Gingerbread Cake recipe is now a new favourite in my house - OH thoroughly approves. You and Kittikins are very welcome - bottle is chilling nicely in the fridge
. The loaf tin liners are from Lakeland http://www.lakeland.co.uk/F/keyword/2lb+loaf+tin+liners/product/5552_7321_5553_6545
£3.99 for 40 liners. Mine are the 'squared end' 2lb loaftin ones - they make such a difference to the presentation of the cakes, especially if its a present for somebody else. Not sure about them being 'reuseable' as the blurb suggests though. Wtg on getting your tyres sorted - very necessary expense - can't take any chances with safety on the roads. Plus all that lovely chicken stock :j.
jem1276 - happy birthday to your OH and hope your trifle worked out well. Lucky you on the lie-in tomorrow morning - I'm in work
.
is76 - good luck with your veggie plots. Know what you mean about the food processor - love mine for slicing bags of onions at a time for the freezer :j!
newlywed - thanks for the link to the recipe - definitely looks good so copied/saved for future reference. I've also signed up for their newsletter . Good luck to you both for your planned walk/hike - you've certainly recovered brilliantly.
bunny too - wd on all your nsd's - and believe me that Gingerbread Cake is deliciously moist - sounds like bubble 'n' squeak for tomorrow at your house :j.
sparrer - hey one thing about cross-stitching - definitely does NOT get you off your b*m. The kits don't come cheap BUT there's lots of patterns available and aida isn't expensive to buy - only have to cut it to size and you're away. I find it's nice to put somebody's name on them in a fancy script with a small flower/bird/border on it - you can back them with a piece of felt/fabric so the back of the stitching doesn't show through. Loving your no.2 - 21 nsd's :T and only eating meat on 6 days :j - well done you.
Gers - wtg on all your points :j!
Ladyhawk - awww - sorry Toupe isn't well again - specialfor him. Did he perhaps get hurt/bitten in his skirmish last week? Flipping heck - 7.15am appointment  - doesn't your doctor go home?
CCP - :rotfl: at your cat and the birdfood! Just never know what they'll try next. Hope you did well in the pub quiz.
jollymummy - good to hear you had a great weekend and days out. I love to see little boys in hand-made sweaters - though I know that technically they're 'not cool'. I got away with making Aran sweaters for my dgs1 and dgs2 until they were about 8yrs old - after that, no chance of them wearing one! wtg on coming in under budget this month :T.
katiesmummy - wow you WERE busy! awwwww your poor OH - having to sit all squashed up in thelike that - with his bad leg hanging over the side - trying hard not to laugh - honest - oh dear, it's no good - can't stop myself -
.
Seriously though, you can get plastic covers for over plaster casts/dressings http://www.betterlifehealthcare.com/products.php?catID=15&subID=327 - can't stick them in water BUT it helps to keep them dry from being splashed. Could you get the loan of one of those bath seats that go across the top of the bath - might just be useful http://www.betterlifehealthcare.com/products.php?catID=15&subID=304 .
nuttybabe - oh dear, got visions of your kids going,
and
after having their 'sugar fix' - sounds like that long walk was exactly what was needed. wd to your dd for eating without hassle :T.
Caterina - Best wishes andfor your cousin. Would you believe it, I forgot about the polenta when I came home - peeled a pan of pots and cooked them before I remembered about my previous idea -. We'll have it midweek to save on the cooking - we ARE meat eaters, and I've got some nice Pork and Apple sausages in the freezer that may go rather well with it
. How lucky you decided against the curry and went straight home - or you would have felt awful about the lovely sandwiches that DD's b/f had brought for you
. Hope you enjoy 'Housewife 49' if you haven't seen it before - I loved it!
lilmisskitkat - wtg on your bargain 'sunday roast' :T. wd on getting your holiday booked.
house elf - good job you bathed the dog BEFORE cleaning the bathroom. wd on your baking sessions.
ACEY - awwww your ds must have thought you may just fancy a midnight snack. So sorry to hear about your grandmother - I know falls can really set them back, but not always - thoughts and
for her.
That's me done for now - going for a hot drink and bed. May just manage half an hour with my book. Nitey nite to all -to all who need them. love Ollie xxx

My 5 for yesterday:
1. Lovely bright sunny day here in Bristol.
2. Very good session in the gym - worked up quite a sweat (sorry, TMI, I know!).
3. Meeting with my brother and his girlfriend when I went to visit my mum in her care home.
4. Delicious homemade curry for tea - yum.
5. Feeling good in my newly refurbished house, knowing that all the work has, at last, been done. It was as if I couldn't enjoy whilst there were bits and pieces left to do - now I can.Life is not a dress rehearsal.0 -
Yesterday's pleasures:-
1. Good old fashioned roast beef (special offer) and hm yorkshire pudds for lunch.
2. Enough beef left over to make two more meals for us.
3. Finishing another pom-pom scarf, that's the third since Tuesday.
4. Finally started sewing up the 4ply cardigan that goes with a twin-set. Still have to finish knitting the jumper.
5. Snow overnight. A lovely winter wonderland to wake up to, but I hope it doesn't cause too much chaos for people.
Acey sorry to hear about your gran's fall. I hope she will 'mend' quickly.
Bella.A man's life consisteth not in the abundance of things which he possesseth. Luke 12 v 150 -
Good morning everybody :hello: - woke this morning to frozen hailstones on the everywhere - very slippy when putting the bins out
.
savingforoz - your last one must give you a sense of relief, knowing that when you do go away everything will be fine for your home with no foreseeable problems to arise. Hope you mum is well.
bella - wd on the scarf knitting and on nearly finishing the cardigan for a twin-set - brave lady doing one in 4ply :T.
Mine for yesterday:
1. Not enough 'whites/lights' to warrant putting the washing m/c on :j.
2. Put chunky veg, onions, whoopsied sirloin steak and oxo stock in the Slow Cooker for braised steak for evening meal - absolutely delicious. DID intend to serve with polenta but forgot about it and peeled/cooked a pan of pots instead .
3. Spent the afternoon with DD and the dgk's. DD managed a bit of a laugh with me, though she is still struggling with anxiety/depression. She was expecting DS1 and his g/f for a roast chicken dinner at 4.00pm but they didn't show - shame as she worked so hard to provide the meal for them. The blessing is that she's got plenty of leftovers for bubble 'n' squeak for today :j.
4. Dancing on Ice - brilliant - my favourite 'reality show'. But can't believe how unpleasant Jason was to Sharron Davies - hope she does an 'Amazon' on him .
5. Catching up with all the wonderful posts on here in the evening before bed.
Hope everybody has a great OS/MSE day - keep warm and safe, it's flipping cold out there today - I'll try and pop in throughout the day - love Ollie xxx0 -
Hi all, here's some of mine so far:
1. OH being able to help a mate out with his DIY car repairs by lending him some of my dad's tools.
2. The sun shining - I love cold crisp sunny days
3. Found a very suitable job to apply for online - just need to update my cv to tailor it towards it.
4. The step kids being extra polite this weekend - the chat from DH about the importance of manners has sunk in (even if its temporary!).
5. Getting a list together of finance areas to be tackled/reduced with OH and OH being on board with this. Gas supplier swap to be looked at tonight for starters.
6. Booking Wednesday off for a neighbour's funeral and realising last night the main reason I'm going is because my dad would have gone if he was still here (it's neighbour of my parents but I lived with my parents until a few years ago). Feel kind of comforted to know we're doing what my dad would have done.
7. Walking 1.5 miles to work - half the planned walk but still more than I've done in a long while and it didn't take too much out of me either, so I must be much betterworking on clearing the clutterDo I want the stuff or the space?0
