Here are my pleasures for today:
- Clearing out the drawer of odds-and-ends and finding 2 new cross stitch kits that I had forgotton about.
- Making space in my freezer and cupboards again. And making a tasty, cheap tea with some fish I found lurking at the back.
- DH getting loads of forms/letters and phonecalls sorted, that we have been putting off for far too long.
- Finding a nice recipe to use up some of my many, many tins of salmon.
- Getting all the washing done, dried AND put away today :eek:Value of prizes 2010 - 2017: £8374 Wins 2022: Magic set
Debt free thanks to MSE0 -
Blimey, its cold again! No more snow today though.
5 for today:
1) Worked at school all day, helped 6 children make the "Iron Man" (they're doing work on the Ted Hughes book).
2) Had a word with bigger son's teacher after school. I was quite nervous as I wanted to tell her a) bigger son told me had he moved down a group b) the trouble with his father and his new fiancee and contact being cut and c) his father possibly going to prison. Well, its all marvellous (haven't told bigger son yet that I've had the talk with Mrs. He is still in the top 5 in the year but has been moved to a different table because he won't stop talking to the other 4!! Somehow, in the middle of the chat, I seemed to agree to being librarian at school on Fridays too!
3) Phoned my sister (about the school chat) and she was in the middle of buying the boys new nose clips and hoops for when they go swimming!
4) Got on top of the housework quickly and the fire is going well.
5) Looking forward to Holby City later.
6) Also got this to watch. http://www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer/episode/b00qmwsh/My_Child_Wont_Speak/
Smaller son has selective mutism. Or autism. Or a bit of both! I've been filling in a questionnaire about him this evening before he gets moved on the social behaviour team....

Mine for today
1 Finally got round to the thank you card for my grandad for the kids xmas money (better late than never) and baked him some shortbread to go with it.
2 My tomato seeds are growing :T
3 Baked a cinnamon fruit loaf this afternoon so the house smelt of cinnamon.
4 Ds1's teacher spoke to me today and told me he is doing really well in his reading and has gone up a level. We dont notice so much at home as the only quiet time we get to do homework/reading is after other 2 have gone to bed and he is tired.
5 Bread Rolls and spicy sausage ys in netto today.
Off to do some crochet now, had a night off last night and bit half my nails off!!! Need to keep my hands busy!0 -
Hello all - Not much to report today but some pleasures to be had -
1. Car starting first time after various trips to the garage
2. A no spend day
3. HM veggie Chilli from freezer & Jacket pots for tea
4. lovely snow falling as I left work
5. second day of diet going brillo (having diet email chats with old work mates for motivation)0 -
Evening all.
hope you are all very hearty and happy.
1) Toupe (he is white with a black splotch on his head, hence the name...) seems to be a little better and harrassed me for supper when I got home so I think that he is feeling a little more perky
2) Had it out with my boss this afternoon and told her undervalued, undermined and underappreciated I feel. I probably should have apologised for being a right moody madam... anyway we left as friends again.
3) Having a chat with a very good friend on the way home from work. And setting some time to see her next week when I'm in London for work.
4) Cake... we had one of the cake suppliers in at work and he brought samples of lemon cake and granola bars... greedly old me didn't even wait until they had defrosted properly before devouring them!!
5) Posted off one of the DVD's that I sold on amazon... and got a £2 coin to feed to Eamon the Mortgage pig.
Have a lovely evening everyone.
LMan plans and God laughs...Perhaps travel cannot prevent bigotry. But by demonstrating that all people cry, laugh, eat, worry and die, it introduces the idea that if we try to understand each other, we may even become friends.0 -
Today's been a mostly better day thank goodness!
1. Have kept to the diet today no problemo, and somehow managed to lose 1lb yesterday even with my bad behaviour
2. Managed another small swim today, ended up stopping before I wanted to as my back started twinging, so I sat in the sauna for a while.....wonderful
3. Favourite tv night tonight, so I'm in my pj's early!
4. Have booked in a physio session for Thursday lunchtime, hoorah! DARN IT, just realised it clashes with a meeting I have to attendWonder if he's got any other slots....oh well, at least I'll get to have treatment soon!
5. Will have a snuggly night tonight, poor DD's hot water bottle started leaking, the spare bed is awaiting fixing, so she's in my bed, let's hope she doesn't kick me in the back all night like she did the other night!!
6. A good friend gave me a kick up the 'arris about a few things and I appreciate her advice0 -
Good evening, everyone.
My five for today:
1) Peeling my breakfast banana to find it was just at the ripeness stage I like best. Little things...
2) There's another flower bud on my Christmas cactus - that's 15 now, and the second lot of flowers in three months.
3) I finally tracked down some poppy seeds to make my clementine and poppy seed muffins...
4) ...and when I mentioned at work that I was trying a new muffin recipe everyone wanted a taste - I'll take them in tomorrow and won't have to worry about either eating them or finding a gap for them in the freezer.
5) Switching on the breadmaker as soon as I got home - and I even remembered the yeast this time.Back after a very long break!0 -
Evening Everyone,
Mine for today:
1. Really yummy dinner of sticky fried rice with chilli chicken and enough left for lunch tomorrow and DD dinner on Thursday:drool:
2. OH's 40th birthday on Saturday and I have been set the challenge to buy him 40 different presents:eek:. Got the last of them today and spent the evening wrapping them only to find out I had bought 41. Never mind another present to put away for christmas
3. Walked to and from work today so another £1 in my savings tin
4. Watching Hairy bikers on tv
5. Voucher in the post from Waitrose for a free piri piri chicken:j0 -
1. Bargain bloomer bread for breakfast and lunchtime sandwiches.
2. Washing/tumbling/ironing/putting away - all in one day.
3. 'Spanish chicken' for tea. I couldn't bring myself to use a whole pack of bacon, like the recipe said, but we all enjoyed it. (Does anyone else heckle the TV when Jamie Oliver proclaims he can produce dinner for 4 for less than a fiver?!)
4. Watching 'Shameless' - my guilty pleasure! (People would never believe it of me!)
5. Opening the chest freezer to see a sea of yellow labels!0
