Good evening all,
Mhagster - safe journey x
VickyA and Broomstick - Sorry, I LOVE my clutter - people will have a bliddy good laugh going through my stuff when I pop me clogs. I don't think dumping my gear will make me more organised or a better person - I'd just be a person with less stuff !;)
PK - have a lovely holiday too !
Frith- gosh I hope you managed to get your car back!
6 for today
1. Ner ner off now:D beat you to it Skintos
2. Banged my report our following site visit yesterday.
3. Office vibes felt more cheerful .
4. VJsmum -I got a reply from my complaint about carp service at restaurant with the offer of a £25 "gesture of goodwill" and an acceptable apology.
5. French grey paint in dining room looks a bit purple, but I like it .
6. Email from my friend who may drop her lovely hens off to me to chicken sit (I said SIT :rotfl:) over Xmas .
For the record ... wouldn't let a mushy pea near me .EVER
Have a good evening all !:AToo fat to be Felicity Kendal , but aim for a bit more of the good life :A0 -
1. NSD
2. The builder came over and finished off the last bits in the kitchen, I'm looking forward to using the dishwasher when I find where I stashed the tablets tomorrow!!
3. Fabulous day at school, helping older children make decorations and younger ones finish off their Christmas cardsAll work, work, work
4. Have made yummy dinner in our swanky new kitchen
5. Couldn't get a babysitter, so am not out with my old work colleagues tonight - which is a pleasure, as it means I'm saving money that I can ill afford, and then it turned out lots of people have had to back out, so it would have been a small event.0 -
Evening all.
A brief addition to the mushy pea discussion, with apologies for discussing such matters: I got some cheap cans of mushy peas from AF and discovered - with some shock - that they contain a lot of artificial colouring which... erm... goes right through and comes out in a different sort of pea, iykwim. It practically glowed in the dark - and I'll say no more.
1) Mentioned to a colleague that I only needed 12 more cases to meet a (somewhat arbitrary) total of 300 for the year - so, bless her, she went and dug out 12 more cases for me. :A
2) Colleagues were still discussing my quiz today - it was meant as a conversation starter and obviously worked as it was still being debated 24 hours later.
3) It had almost stopped raining when I left the office, so I didn't get drenched walking back to my car.
4) Found some fajita-spiced pork and some wraps in the freezer, so I'll have both together for dinner.
5) Quiz tonight - the last one before Christmas, and hopefully with less cheating than at the one on Tuesday. (Not my team, obviously, but a couple of other teams which clearly fancied the jackpot prize and didn't mind how they got it.)
mhagster - have a safe flight, and we look forward to seeing you back in our time zone.
Broomstick - I hope you're still OK and un-flooded - there's been some dreadful stories from around the country today.
missmoneysave - I like staffies - they're nearly always nice-natured dogs and don't deserve the bad reputation they've somehow gained. Give yours a fuss for me, would you?
Have a nice evening, all.Back after a very long break!0 -
Oh dear I come along, upset the teachers and & :heartpuls. Just found a strip of old Pirate photos from my passport in 1989. First two were used for passport and has piccie of rather dashing slightly younger BoP. The third is a party classic and a V sign. So there, it is not a new trait, but a continiuem of my norm.
Apols for the rush debate on Mushy Peas. Now is it Chips with Gravy or Curry?
5 Done Xmas day menu. Crab Cakes, made with Turnips and Onion. Home made, served with chilli sauce. Then, FISH CHIPS and MUSHY PEAS! Smoke Salm0n, not supermarket water festooned muck, but local smokery (Upton, well it is on way back from tother work). Game Chips and MUSHY PEAS.
The sit done and quaff a quart for Liza. At 5 I shall be flaming that Cristmas Pud I made when I was called [STRIKE]TILAMS[/STRIKE]
4 In shop for 8, sorted and outs by 8:25. Butchers eggs at 99p and bacon and chicken tikkas, 4 breasts for £5, got 8 kebabs from them and tonight I shall quaff two quarts of the wenches ale and have the Chicken wings. Lady Black is doing the finger kebabs now of Pienapple (fresh, not cheap supermarket mucks) Cheese and (Yep, I know, I beast every so often), cocktail sausage and cherry toms.
3 Just when it is sldide down time for xams, bloody bid comes in and ... I know, worth a bit tis one so got to do it.
2 We got a kissing door at BoPs Pad. Some young gal, girl, comes round with dad, with big basket of Misletoe. I warned the said that it would elad to trouble and I needed to test it first. Bought big bunch off her, and now is hung over utility door so every time we pass, it is snoggles. Nieces with think I has gone soft.
1 Have you noticed this season what is missing?
Hugs everyone and those in need, just remember that the iceberg is only ten percent above the water. Do not let what lurks below frettles your life. As with everything, do not give the money grabbers chance to make misery.0 -

For today:
1. Day off work. Got up with DS at 7am and had a cup of tea, Then went back to bed and dozed off for another half an hour
2. Got new tyres fitted on car. Hate garages, always feel intimidatedThey asked me if I wanted tracking done and said it would be £25. When I came to pay I complained about the price (they gave me tracking price exclusive of vat) and got vat value knocked off the bill
3. Just as I got home the postman arrived with my final parcel for DS xmas stocking
4. Had my diabetic retinopathy at local hospital. Only 20 min walk away and it was pouring with rain. The pleasure is that the drops in my eyes have now worn off and I am no longer feeling dizzy with blurred vision
5. sausages for tea roasted with leftover corgette, pepper and butternut squash, a couple of wilting mushrooms and an onion

Tired!
Here are my pleasures for today.
1) Not a bad sleep.
2) Smaller son had a good last day at school. Only there til 12.30.
3) Phoned 2 primary schools and will go and look round in the new year.
4) My car is mended! Apparently, the wiper motor/mechanism I got from the scrapyard is a good one. Haven't had the bill for fitting it yet.
5) Made a lasage for tea.
6) Went swimming with sons and my brother. There are some goals that we pull out if there is no one else in the pool. (No lifeguards as it is the pool of a local private school). Anyway, we decided to have a game of football in the shallow end. No handballs allowed just heading and jumping out of the water to boot it. It was really hard work!0 -
mhags safe flight, keep lots of warm clothes (scarves, gloves, woolly pullies, maybe even snorkels and flippers;)) handy for when you arrive!
BoP it can only be chips with cheese grated on top! Thanks to DS for introducing this delicacy into my life. Gravy makes them soggy and take-away curry sauce tastes like stew with curry powder. Ewwwww!
1. visited DM and had our Christmas
2. Mways were manic with standing water and pouring rain but stuck to lanes 1 and 2 (yes, really!) and let the reps and white van men fight it out between them on the outside lane, idiots
3. Had an amazing lunch of goats cheese fritters, (the batter was crisp and so light you could almost see through it), baked beetroot and apple and walnut salad. It was just a nice amount, allowed room for hm fruit crumble and warm vanilla foam. Will definitely be going back there, it was one of the tastiest meals I've had for a very long time
4. DM loved all her pressies, the a sui perfume was a great hit. Difficult to buy perfumes for other people but seems I got it just right
5. Nice to be safely home and looking forward to a reasonably early night, with no rush to get up in the morning
Stay safe and dry, special thoughts of Broomstick and all at risk of flooding. Take care0 -
Thanks for the wishes re flooding.
Hope this is not speaking too soon but things seem to be stable at the moment both up and downstream which is good.
My five pleasures for today:
1. Went and collected a load of sandbags, rubble sacks to improvise more sandbags with and plastic tarps. I'm determined not to have to rush about trying to get this stuff together on 25th/26th! And tomorrow has a dry and sunny forecast for us as wellIf they aren't needed, at least I'm building up some supplies of useful practical, multi-use materials (even if I ended up spending a large amount of this week's food budget on them).
2. Also collected two lengths of cheap foam pipe insulation, cut them to size, joined them (spaced a door width apart) with gaffer tape along their length and slid it under the porch door. It has made the best draft excluder ever and I think it fits so well that it might even become another bit of the flood defences, just need to work out how to block the verticals! (It's kind of like this http://www.pipelagging.com/under-door-draught-excluder-proofing-strip-pi-2921.html)
3. Spinach, tomato and cheese omelette for supper. Scrummy.
4. Watched the final of Young Apprentice on iplayer with DS1. We rarely watch programmes together nowadays and it was lovely having him there to chat to about it.
5. Nearly on top of the backlog of clothes washing/drying. :T
Get well soon to those who are poorly.
Sweet dreams
B x0
