  • Phew! Just sat down for the first time today.

    1. Had a mental health review with my CPN and psychiatrist. Tiring but a pleasure as I told them I was sick of being pushed from pillar to post and passed between mental health and learning disability services and each one saying they can't help me. Told them I needed something, it's been ten months. Buck your ideas up and sort me out...and they did...kind of...been promised all sorts of positive things, lets help they actual materialise!

    2. New furniture arrived. Was hoping it would arrive between Xmas and new year but it came early so mad frantic scurrying to find somewhere to store it all because we don't have time to assemble it at the moment!

    3. Got complimented on how lovely Ian the dog is.Rare as he is a staffy and other dog walkers tend to cross the road to walk past us. He looks mean but is soft as a brush, it was nice that someone took the time to fuss him and work that out for themselves.

    4. Cake....and buns....and hot chocolate...all in one for lunch :o it was a grab what you can day, all I could reach was cake. Honest.

    5. Lovely veg packed sausage casserole for dinner to make up for my  lunch.

    6. One more. Handing out a bunch of presents, not a pleasure because I'm joyous and enjoy the pleasure of bringing happiness to others...a pleasure because I'm glad to see the back of them. I can now see floor space in the office!

I've tried posting several times over the last couple of days and the system has either seized up on me or eaten my posts. (Glad you've reappeared Ampersand!) I'm trying again...

Thanks, Skint, we've just gone back onto Flood Alert but the river where we are, and upstream of us, is within reasonable limits tonight. I hope it would now only take just one of us about 5 minutes to get the ground floor of the house safe up to about 18" (and another 5 minutes to make it safe it to desk height plus, of course, we would have to move two cars to higher ground. I'm wondering about sitting the Xmas tree on a low table when we put it up on Friday night, just in case.

Anyway, five pleasures for recent times:

    1. Getting to the dump/recycling again today to continue with the clearing out of stuff.

2, Finding that there is a lovely greengrocers/wholefood shop in the village I usually drive through on the way to the dump. It's on a side road that I don't usually go down. Apparently it opened last year and has loads of fresh organic and/or locally grown veg. I think that this might enable me to stop my veg box in the new year and reduce my supermarket shop.:T Very pleased about that find.

    3. Listening to the serialisation of the children's book 'Goodnight Mr Tom' on iplayer while working. Love the story - I know the book well.

    4. Have sorted out my version of an 'office in a bag' (like AmericanFlylady recommends). I really needed to be more organised about this because I do so much work on the go. I've been muddling through with a half-hearted solution but now it feels much less chaotic and I only had to top up with a new book of stamps because I had everything else I needed for it at home.

    5. Catch up chat on the phone with a friend.

    Sweet dreams

    B x

PS. Oh, and here's a fresh new cake for VJsmum :bdaycake: The one I tried to send you on your birthday will have gone a bit stale by now. :D

    Wednesday's wonders..........

    1. Not a NSD, wanted, nay, needed choccy, and the village shop obliged, mmmmmmmm delish!

    2. DD well :)

    3. Had a fab morning helping out at her school, then the afternoon watching DD's nativity. Feel all Christmassy now, and had a brilliant seat, could gaze at my little shepherd resplendent in a sea of tea-towelled heads all the way through :)

    4. OH is here, and all going well! We exchanged Christmas presents and I went against my principles and agreed that we could open them - cue one very happy DD with her new, cute, riding gloves and fabulous books, and one happy, fragrant Kittikins with her favourite perfume :) (oh and a happy OH with his goodies too!)

    5. OH treated us to wine and chish and fips supper - no mushy peas though, although I am a recent convert, nomnom. Ate far too much and am now too full to eat!

    6. Sent back expensive clothes that I can ill afford, including a coat which I have replaced with a second-hand one off the bay of Eeeeee. Roll on refund time!

    7. The post office was quiet, chatted to someone I vaguely know at the head of the queue and apparently it was heaving, out the door yesterday, so glad I was lazy and waited til today!

    8. DD had impromptu tea with her best chum after school, and returned happy - and a bit hyper!

    9. Feeling Christmassy :)

    10. Looking forward to another day at DD's school on Thursday and then a 'day off' on Friday, well possibly......I fancy going in for the last day of term if I can, depending on workmen etc!

Mhagster the procrastinator extraordinaire here......so much to do but I've managed to read all your pleasures and phone a friend!

    Past 2 days pleasures
Being given gifts from very kind customers. Totally unexpected but very much appreciated.....apart from those coffee chocolates.....disguised as chocolate !

Went to a friends house for dinner last night.....could have seen going out far enough but we had a nice night, good food and good company ....and the laughing of a kookaburra in their back garden to end the evening.

    Saw my emu yesterday.

DD2 came to work today and was handsomely rewarded.

Think that's me......off on my holibags tomorrow! Will try and post my pleasures as and when I can. See you in the UK!!

    Hello all!

A nasty teacher here who has broken up for the holiday on Tuesday ;) Yesterday I was in school rearranging chairs :D ready for next term. (I only started in my new school at October half term, so yesterday I actually had a whole day to just properly sort it all! My class now has a role play area, reading area and a writing table...).

My pleasures for the last couple of days:

    1) Bought a book called "Banish the Clutter". Now, I know most people don't need a book and it's just adding to the clutter but I do have a bit of an issue with hoarding. I do find it incredibly difficult to let go of things, much to DH's distress. It's quite a good motivating book and hopefully it'll help me to "see" the error of my ways (although my dad and brother suffer from the same issue).

    2) As part of the above, I've got a few items to take to the charity shop. Yes, I know that I keep taking little bits most weeks and it would be easier to take it all in one go, but I'm at least trying...

    3) I'm doing some menu planning! Tonight we're having salad, in preparation for over eating next week.

    4) Chance to pop to the bank to pay a cheque in after we cancelled the renewal of our former insurance company (got a much better deal!). Unfortunately, I've already spent some of it on a new Denby jug from an outlet shop which matches the range we got when we married!

    5) When I'm in town, I'll be nipping to the charity shops as I've run out of Christmas cards... and we haven't written one for the in-laws yet. A bit of an oversight!

As for the mushy pea debate: fish, chips and mushy peas all the way! If I were to have mushy peas by themselves, then they HAVE to have mint sauce with them.... Mmmmm, yum, yum!

mhagster - I really love hearing news of emus mid-morning! :D

VickyA - I recently discovered a quote by Joshua Becker which was 'Consider the fact that at some point in your life (or in your death) every single item of your belongings will be sorted by another human being.' I've heard all this before but somehow the way he phrased it with 'every single item' is helping me to focus no end on the decluttering problem. I'm also finding that the little and often principle works for me too and that the CS box or recycling bag may be only part full but I can still get it out the house now!

    On which note... :)

  • 1. Lovely lunch with value stir fried veg, value pasta, a bit of marge, white pepper and half a stock cube. Really tasty and cheap to make.

    2. I had a voucher sent to me for a Chrissy present.

    3. I spent the voucher online already lol.

    4. Tidied up the house and moved some furniture near to the bedroom window to block draughts and I found the framed photo of my cat that died last year.:A I had been looking for that for ages! I've put that up on the wall.

    5. Phone call to my friend to arrange to meet her on Xmas eve.
    3. Got complimented on how lovely Ian the dog is.Rare as he is a staffy and other dog walkers tend to cross the road to walk past us. He looks mean but is soft as a brush, it was nice that someone took the time to fuss him and work that out for themselves.

That is sweet.:) I have the opposite happen to me, I have a beautiful, long-haired Chihuahua and people cross the road to see him and they get barked at for their trouble!:o
