:bdaycake:Happy Birthday VJsmum, hope you had a great day :bdaycake:
McCulloch- Keeping fingers crossed for you re the job
Pleasures for today,
1. Healthy packed lunches and breakfasts for everyone
2. DD got an issue sorted at the nursery where she is on placement. One of the staff have been bullying her a bit but it was noticed by other staff and reported and now appears to be sorted out, fingers crossed.
3. Cake at work as someones birthday, yummy
4. busy busy day at work and learn't how to do quite a few new things but by learning these jobs mean't a step closer to finishing my project and not waiting for other people to do what was needed.
5. DD helping me prepare dinner and the veg for a pot of soup.
Hugs to all who need them0 -
Thanks for the birthday wishes (and cake) everyone. I apologise for my shameless tarting!!!
I have had a lovely day - several of my recent birthdays have been pants - 3 years ago my lovely mum had just died and 2 years ago we got caught in a blizzard on the M25.
So for today
1. Despite my very bad mood of last night, I woke up feeling OK about being another year older.
2. Lovely presents - as detailed above.
3. Took lemon drizzle cake and mincemeat muffins to work - everyone was very complimentary
4 Left early and did some marking - but I didn't mind as I and a colleague had worked out how to speed the process up.
5. Lovely meal out with the family. We don't always, but this time was very glad we took the kids - I think our chances of doing things just the four of us are getting fewer, so it was nice to take the opportunity.
Night all - and thanks again.I wanna be in the room where it happens0 -
In brief as it's been quite a busy sort of day
1. ampersand
2. Mat Alan voucher saved me £14 on DM's pillows, a couple of necessities (ish) for self and some stocking fillers
3. GP appt saw meds reinstated which will be much to everyone's relief!
4. College email giving £5 off any hair/beauty treatment over £10. Excellent news as I'm having my hair done tomorrow
5. DNeighbour in for a cuppa this pm. Used her a a guinea pig for some chocolate brownies, she liked them enough to have two
6. DM phoned, she's put bossy DB's arrangements off so we're not going to him for lunch. The two of us will have a good 'Christmas' day together which is just what I'd hoped for, well done DM!
Sleep tight0 -
Skint, thank you again, I have filled out the form, written a very brief covering letter tonight and will post it in the morning – thank you again for the help.:)
1.I found a site called paganbooksforfree and so far its good, I’ve downloaded books on herbs, growing your own veg, frugal living, recipes tight budgets, infact the list goes on, the frugal shopper is free on the kindle at the moment, not read it yet just downloaded.
2.Early start today, the poor washing machine has been on the go all day, tidying,
3.Wrote a to do list to remember it all and stick to it.
4.5.6 etc...Both DH and I ploughed on doing lots today, but he surprised me with an evening out tonight, we went over the bridge to Costco, I was able to get him the Christmas present he had wanted and he surprised me, I’ve been having problems with the metal in my ankle and he bought me a lovely pair of fluffy lined knee high boots that actually support the ankle, fit and are adjustable for when it swells! Then we got a whole new outfit, I did admit to him I struggled a bit with it as we don’t tend to buy clothes, certainly not full price, but it was also needed as when we were packing earlier it was a rubbish bag for worn out clothes and sorting what was left.
We then pondered around people watching / listening to Christmas carollers, it was lovely night out only just got back.:D0 -
Morning all. The blue Peter had been flown over the weekend, tht extended into Tuesday.
So here is ketch up a I unfurl the creels.
Frith, while schools are recorded on tick boxes, one can only ... Fight on there, I know, as I hate social workers, educationalists and teachers. Set them in a room with three chairs, and a piece of paper, and come back six weeks later, they wil still be arranging the chairs.
Was going to have some good things to say on Friday. Could not, except that Mr T, S, M and A all sell items of violence, toy guns etc. only that Mr A's parent sells real guns next to the groceries. Make your choice and vote with your feet. And to think sales in certain areas rocketed over the weekend. They may have eradicated whooping cough, but slaughter remains.
5 Police corruption. While the eyes have investigated the press, our police have ...
4 Went out to chink, with Lady Black last eve. Great fun. Still struggled to break fifty pound barrier.
3 Got some trumps for sharing later.
2 Pressies wrapped up and ready.
1 oh seems I missed a cake fest as well. Never mind.
Oh, we are having fish, chips and mushy peas for Christmas dinner!0 -
Sorry, it appears I may be playing cards or have wind to share.
I did mean FRUMPS but the ayePiddle changed it.0 -
'as I hate social workers, educationalists and teachers' -
Steady on there bop, nor are ALL police corrupt and sadly, whooping cough has not been eradicated either.
skint and sparrer - empathies re: those lost posts.
Frith, I was surprised you bought mistletoe - none from bro. this year? House clearance connection...good, good=envy, envy:-)
I have been thinking on 1-to-1 tutoring for son? - given the statement you have.
He seems to be doing so well, a rewarding, eager, transformed lad in school, ability at last in flower...is there no way of pushing on this?
Really came to post this Sign Up alert for RSPB Big Garden Bird Watch:
http://www.rspb.org.uk/events/details.aspx?id=tcm:9-336296
I did and rcvd immediate £5 voucher, used, equally instantest, here:
http://shopping.rspb.org.uk/sale-offers-promotions/bird-seed-hopper-small.html.
Good reviews and should keep the earwigs out, too.
Pepper sauce is phenomenal, will be bottled, not jarred, as I set to with magic wand earlier. No regrets.
2nd tea awaits. It's the one that re-uses the tea bag, re:which I have no shame - 2 movements of a symphony; the 3rd is the inevitable re-zap.
Enjoy your 1 week to Boxing Day everyone and if you can hear or sing the most glorious, utterly exquisite carol, Adam Lay A-bounden, please do so.
[I'm sure I bullied this last year]

Morning all
Coo BoP, did you get out of the wrong side of the bed this morning? Think you'd better come and visit my quack and he'll give you some of my happy pills! Like ampersand I too defend our police force as I do teachers and social workers, there are all three professions in my family who do a sterling job. Nowt wrong with chish and fips (can't say same for mushy peas _pale_) for Christmas dinner, it's a heck of a lot more than many will have.
Horrible night as the ol' arthritics in me hands were playing havoc with my sleep time, this morning they're fine. Grrrrr
Back later with my 5, keep smiling0 -
Sorry if it seems like ganging-up time, bop, but I'm with sparrer re:mushy peas, which I thought were someone's idea of a disgusting joke, when first I heard of them in early UK days. I'm happily bigoted enough to say Never Tried Them, Don't Like Them[goes for gin, too].
Have just cleaned up almightiest mess after bottling Scotch Blow Your Bonnet Off Sauce[It really does taste superb]without suitable funnel - now for 30 mins water bath boil and h/g rasp. jam underway.
Oh, small matter of Spitalfields+car+sorting...and it's raining.
Believe I have been hearing Matt Crawford as Sam Weller in The Pickwick Papers, just finished. VG again, with added interest of action in/around The Angel, Bury St Edmunds - was in it a while ago.
