^ trying again
1. New front tyres ordered and local garage has agreed to honour an internet deal I found. Its much easier to know what you are paying for now they have the labelling system (similar to abc labelling of electrical appliances, for wet grip, fuel efficiency and noise level) but still £133  There I go ...skint yet again
2. lots of washing dried on line ... where does it all come from ? I think it breeds in the wash basketPlus cleaning and ironing
3. popped to asda to get bottle of port for BiL xmas pressie and it was on offer for £7 plus I used my recent price guarantee voucher for £3.42 ...bargain.
4. then went to aldi and got weeks shop and last few things for xmas. Just need to get salad, veg and double cream next monday
5. lending a shoulder to an old friend. She is in the process of splitting up with her partner of 19 years and doesnt have any family to turn to.
6. Dropped DS off at martial arts xmas party, so no need to cook tonight. Just had a sandwich
7. Santa has just been round
Hes passed our house every year since DS was 3 yo (hes now 17yo) on a sleigh prepared by our local pond association. I still remember DS when he was little being amazed that santa came to his house and we had to tell him santa was scoping the area so he knew where to bring the presents on xmas eve

CCP - I think that's why we have tinsel. Something to do with a spider spinning a web across the door of a cave where Jesus was hiding so the Romans didn't find him?
Chicken - if I had a dog, it would be a Jack Russell. :-) We had Cherry and Daisy when I was about 14 and when I told my school friends that mum and dad had lost Daisy a couple of years back, they thought it must be Daisy mark 2! They were such characters - catching rabbits, getting into fights with foxes and getting stitches in their noses, popping next door to rip their bin bags apart...0 -
Evening all- who broke the forum?
Am trying to make head or tail of some marking - tearing my hair out, and there is a lot to tear
1. Nearly done the christmas shopping - this time last week I barely had a thing but now just a couple more to get. One is DS's expensive gadget though
2. Coffee in town with friend
3. Seeing my old cleaner in Tk Maxximus - she has just been offered a permanent job and I couldn't be happier for her. She won't be coming back to us though.:( Oh well, we've coped since March so i am sure we can carry on. And the money saved is going into "big holiday" fund
4. Paying to have the car cleaned in supermarket car park - not :money: but I don't care.:p
5. Baking up a storm to take to work tomorrow as it's me burfdee - shameless touting for virtual cake!
Oh well, more marking....I wanna be in the room where it happens0 -
Hi Skint: I've looked into it, I am going to appeal. Thing is we don't owe anything on what they are asking.. I think I will give them a call. I don't think they will be interested in personal reasons but I think I may plead ignorance of telling them as nothing was owing...0

Re bad gateway 502, it happened to me yesterday and now agasin today but only trying to get into MSE forums via google. Just got in via the old yahoo connection and so far it's okay. Fingers crossed.
Chicken I hope the rescue works out for your DM and the dog.
Frith hang in there, you've come so far and done so well, it's got to come right soon now
mhags pavlova is much nicer than stodgy Christmas pud. Amazing so many people buy it but so few say they like it. Strange people..
1. Got my new Mat Alan card with a 20% off voucher, what a coincidence that I have to go there tomorrow or Wednesday
2. Phoned the surgery and got an appt for tomorrow, think my crotchetyness has to do with a change of meds a few weeks back so am going to discuss. He did say it may not be suitable and to go back if I'm not happy. Not just not happy, I've been bloomin' 'orrible!
3. Wrapped all DM's presents ready for Thursday, except the pillows she asked for, I think she'd guess what was inside that package. Am going to put a big ribbon and bow round them to dress them up at least a little bit
4. Wrapped DGD1's 21st birthday presents for Saturday. I can't believe the tiny thing I watched come into the world is now teaching pre-school, the time has gone in a flash!
5. Got my phone bill, it was £0 as I phoned to leave the company recently and got not only a free month but an £11 cut in my monthly charges :T

:bdaycake: Happy Birthday VJ'smum :bdaycake:
Interview at midday for a consultancy post related to my job. This is aiming far higher than I've ever gone before (in terms of job title, I've done the actual work involved for the last few years).
There have been so many redundancies in the sector that I'm fully expecting the other applicants will be very highly qualified. There again, so am I.
I always expect everyone else to be better and they're not always.
I was offered a job as a learning advisor by a local college some years ago. It had been partially a group interview so we all got to meet each other; it lasted hours and included a group lunch.
I was so convinced one really confident girl had got it, that when the college rang up to offer it to me I said "Wow.. are you sure?!":snow_laug
Frith ... what a saga...
Just one main pleasure to post. The tree is up and decorated. It took three hours this time. There were a few decorations that I'd forgotten about - these are always the most recent purchases. Three of them were really pretty glass decs, lovely to see them as if they were new.
As I've said previously, my hobby is collecting tree decorations. The tree is a small one, 32 Christmases old and I don't want to get another one ever, if possible. So it's cluttered, inelegant, and full of memories.
Pic is a bit blurry. I'll try and take a better one tomorrow.Erma Bombeck, American writer: "If I had my life to live over again... I would have burned the pink candle, sculptured like a rose, that melted in storage." Don't keep things 'for best' - that day never comes. Use them and enjoy them now.0 -
Happy Birthday VJsmum xx
Sparrer - sorry you're not "right" but at least you know why you're feeling like Oscar the Grouch! x
McCulloch - GOOD LUCK with the interview, you sound very confident and qualified to us, so I reckon you'll wow them and get it no problems! When I interviewed for my new job, I was given the names of the other interviewees (apparently this is common in education?) and googled them - found 2 and was convinced that they were far better than me, due to where they worked now and their experience........but on the day, I 'knew' straight away that one of them wouldn't be a fit for the employers, and was still very surprised and pleased when I got the call.0
