Evening all. Sorry about the sporadic attendance but here I am:
1) Made a date to see ex-SIL last night. We really need to meet up more often. We also had the 'present' conversation. She is only buying for immediate family this year. This is rather a relief, as there are four of us and she is always really generous but we never feel we can make it up to her. Anyway, a meal and a bottle of wine together is all I need.
2) Made some cakes and chocolate shortbread this morning, so the house smells lovely. Have wrapped them up for friends. I found that using a shot glass to press out the shortbreads means I can fit them in a jar and don't have to go looking for nice tins to give them in.
3) DS helped me get a table and chairs from the allotment as we are having the Discipleship Group for a meal on Thursday evening and I have been stressing about how to seat them all. This doesn't mean that both tables and all the chairs will fit in the kitchen ...
4) DD is home! I like having everyone where I can see them. And it's so nice to be able to talk about books and baking.
5) Managed to post our Christmas cards this afternoon and walked around the street with the ones for the neighbours. This means I can cross something off my list.
Hope next week is not too manic for everyone.0 -
Evening all
Chicken!!!! You can't call anyone Jolly on, they'd get slaughtered at school.:rotfl: Glad you are feeling better now. I am well jel of the steak and blue cheese sauce.
Todays
1. Bit of a lie in - as seen this morning.
2. Did the shopping - to qualify for various discounts I had to spend at least £35 in Aldi and £40 in Morries and was only just over in both cases.
3. DS got man of the match in footie. His team lost but they only lost 2-1 to a team a league and a half above them. :T
4. Left over curry for tea from the freezer - yum
5. Can see a chink of light at the end of the present buying tunnel - even if I have had to give in and get DS something I don't really approve of (yet another electronic gaming device!)
Have a good evening all.I wanna be in the room where it happens0 -
Evening all.
1) Lie-in this morning after staying up late last night finishing my book.
2) Sausage sarnie for lunch - still tasty despite my not being overly keen on the sausages - I know not to buy that type again, anyway.
3) NSD and NPD for the second day in a row, which always helps at this time of year.
4) Ploughed through another thousand words or so of essay - my word but it's hard going. I'm just finding this course so dull, and I've still got another six months to go.
5) Finished the Xmas quiz for work. :j (And if my manager complains again that it's too hard / too easy / not what she would have done, she can !!!!!! well do it herself next year!)
6) Cooked an experimental gammon joint, with a cider and mustard glaze: the glaze hasn't worked fantastically well, but it's still a seriously nice bit of gammon and I'm struggling to resist nibbling it into non-existence.
7) No work tomorrow, so I can have another nice lie-in before polishing off the essay.
Have a good evening, all.Back after a very long break!0 -
1.-100. Miss Kitty is back with Mummy Kittikins
101. Panto at church was brilliant this morning, I was nearly crying with laughter
102. Lovely sunshine and warmth this morning
103. A friend has invited DD and I over for dinner on Tuesday night, yummy cauliflower cheese for me again - love it!!
104. YS prawn salad for lunch, yummy yummy
105. DD and I watched a very funny, cheesy Christmas 'movie' this afternoon
106. Can send back a v. expensive coat I bought online, as I've just bought the same coat cheaper on the bay of eeeeee. Cue trip to the post office tomorrow morning, woohoo!0 -
Kittikins I feel your excitement at having your DD home
CCP hope the mog is better, be careful where you walk with bare feet! _pale_. Love your olly sig
BoP we are very strange, and often very sad as a species
Broomstick the clothes you were wearing sound very sensible to me, perfect for the cold weather
PK it's little consolation I know but you're not alone. Many people feel similar at this time of year, it's so full of emotional highs and lows it's exhausting. Take time to spoil your self a little bit - no, a lot!
Frith excellent news about younger son and the confirmation letter
Merry unChristmas, mhags and family, note you've picked up the Aussie(?) pavlova habit
Skint sorry you've still got the virus, horrid thing. Get well now
VJsmum oh dear, poor OH (poor you!), hope he got over his strop and enjoyed lunch anyway
missmoneysave congratulations on resisting the offer of the week. Just think how much you saved by not buying it!
Chicken well done Forrest, she and my doglet would make a good search team. I like Jolyon, I also like Miles which DS would have been if I'd had my way and I've heard all the jokes - would he sing far far away, he'd go far in life with that name, etc etc...
PQ I'm going to 'borrow' the shot glass shortbread idea, been thinking of what I can take DB & DSiL on Thursday and little bite-sized shortbread is a good idea. Thank you
1. The sun shone all day
2. Meeting with friends at lunchtime, wasn't very sociable and felt like a 'grumpy old woman' at first but I can't be miserable for long around them, we always end up laughing about everything and nothing
3. I was going to Henley this Thurs to visit DM but today DB arranged that we'll go to him for lunch. Means I have to drive to DM, backtrack 12 miles to DB, take DM home later then backtrack past DB's to get home iyswim. Going to persuade him to at least pick her up so I just take her home (and get to spend some time with her). The pleasure is I'll see my lovely nieces and their beautiful children, before younger niece moves to to Dubai with her husband's job.
4. Filled the car today and was given a till spit for double nectar points with no spend limit. Came just at the right time as I was going into the supermarket afterwards anyway
5. Doing the ironing while enjoying Sports Personality of the Year and waiting to see who wins - I know who I'd vote for, well a choice of two or maybe three...or four? They're all worthy
Sleep tight S0 -
Evening
Pleasures for the last couple of days,
1. Department christmas / team farewell dinner in Portsmouth. Lovely evening out with lots of lovely people just a shame our department is being broken up in the new year and I will not be working so closely with them all. Work paid for our dinner and drinks and for all of us who do not work in Portsmouth to stay over.
2. Wander around the outlet shops in Gunwharf Quays on Friday morning. I used a half days holiday so didn't have to rush back. Bought DD and OH a present each at a heavily discounted price.
3. Walked into town with OH and DD on saturday rather than take the car. Stocked up with veg at the market and bought some meat as well.
4. Watched Nativity with DD this afternoon curled up on the sofa.
5. Yummy dinner tonight of lemon and herb chicken and enough left for wraps for lunch tomorrow.
hugs to all who need them0 -
Evening everyone.
My five pleasures for Sunday:
1. Getting both DSs back home. They seemed to have had a good time last night!
2. Fish cooked in foil with butter and herbs, and veggies for supper which was delicious.
3. Continuing the sorting and tidying with yet more radio drama on in the background. I like the company of the radio so much.
4. NSD and NPD.
5. One of our kitchen lights was so dim tonight - I think the bulb is on its way out - that I decided to light lots of candles and put them along the windowsill. Very pretty and cheering up.
Sweet dreams,
B x0 -
Aw thank you for the kind comments, I'm not used to feeling quite that down, it has lifted a lot today, and you’re right we have been doing so much the past couple of months that when we stopped it was a shock to the system, and we had the realisation last week that everything we have done won’t really matter to much, I have been looking on the bright side but things have hit home now and it just knocked me a tad.
1.A little lay in then we
2.Wrapped up presents.
3.Packed the cat up and loaded up the car with gifts, our cat, food and litter and then off to the MIL to look after while we are away.
4.Popped into a few shops on the way over there like family bargins etc for something different spent err a lot but saved as well??! I’m sure that makes scense:rotfl:
5.MIL fed us with lovely grub, we ate to much chocolate and chatted loads a lovely time.:T0
