Evening all
Chicken!!!! You can't call anyone Jolly on, they'd get slaughtered at school.:rotfl:
VJsmum- I think it could cope my sister has a name that means something else these days ..... I never use her real name but say it backwards . I call her Yag and have always done so.. In fact I don't call anyone by their real name in my family and they don't call me by mine ..My lot are called The Tamworth,Septimus Warren Smith and Penshy Von Stenchy etc....
Sparrer - yep , Miles is a fab name or 8 furlongs
Skintos- yep saw the Predator films too can you believe the Arnie one is 25 years old !!I like the noise it makes that clicking sound and it has David Hayes' hair.
Have a good day all:AToo fat to be Felicity Kendal , but aim for a bit more of the good life :A0 -
Monday evening here. Have just taken the Christmas tree down.....oh my back to front, upside down Christmas...I don't want to come back to a tree covered in spiders webs and have other stuff on this week so tonight was the night....big space left where it was!
1. Saw 2 emus as I drove to work, I said ' wow!' very loudly as I went past!
2. Work went by relatively quickly considering I was there for 10 hours, had a very long chat with my manager, few tears, few snots, lots of things off my chest, some off his....he offered me an opportunity to stay on and do more stuff.....but it's stuff I had hoped to do this year which hasn't materialized and I'm still doing what I was doing last year! Said I may feel taken for granted but that I'm not and that I am appreciated...well show it then! I told him I liked him as a person just not always as a manager ....finished with a hug and I'll think about it but I think I need to move on and not be doing the same stuff this time next year.
I have not handed in my notice and won't until I have something else.
3. Son got his exam results today. They get an average score out of the whole of Victoria year 12 s sitting exams, based on class work, mid term exams and final exams. He did alright, I had hoped he would do better , he has the ability and the score, whilst high enough to get into university is not high enough to apply for a scholarship. We will have to pay full fees of $27,000 a year! I feel bad for feeling a bit disappointed but I know he has the ability to have done better. However, I can't do it for him and told him this at the time......but it is a lot of money for us to find.
4. Home....made chicken fried rice for dinner, using up Christmas chicken leftovers and lots of veggies from fridge, trying to empty fridge and freezer before Thursday.
5. Stayed dry today. DD2 hung out washing..just need to think about ironing it.0 -
Meant to say have a lovely day...just posted too quickly!
Sparrer I have always made pavlovas.....since I discovered I was good at them....must have been Australian before I came out here....it is a traditional Christmas pud!0 -
Mmmmm, pavlova........my mouth is watering! It's going on my list of things to make as soon as the kitchen is finished (or installed at least, it'll still be a bit of a building site for a while!). Or maybe a banoffie pie.....mmmm!0

Grrr, fed up today. I have to choose smaller son a new school (can't stay where he is forever- its a short stay school). Well, there are 4 that are feeder schools for the local high school. The first is his previous school! Second is about 14 miles away, long journey (the other side of the river). The other 2 are both in the same town as high school....
Both almost identical Ofsteds, both around 150 pupils in each school.
Both are full. ALL the schools for 20 miles around are full (I've checked!) This doesn't matter as he has a statement of SEN.
I phoned school 3 and they said they are so full they could probably argue against having smaller son as it would be "detrimental" to have another pupil in that year. I tried to book an appointment and they basically wouldn't let me.
Went into school 4 this afternoon and they are also 5 over their limit due to statemented and cared for children and the head said he might use the same argument if I decided I wanted son to go there.
At the moment, I am very close indeed to just putting down the name of school 3 as it is immediately next door to bigger son's high school. If they want to argue about it, I'll deal with it at that point. I've been battling this since April and I'm getting tired of the whole thing. :-(
Anyway, pleasures for today!
1) Not a bad sleep.
2) Sons off to school quite happily.
3) Went to the scrapyard and got a new windscreen wiper mechanism. Not fitted it yet so have had to keep parking up today and wiping the windscreen dry with a tea cloth!
4) Massive Sainsburys shop ready for Christmas. Got a card for (whisper it) bigger son's new girlfriend as he requested. :-)
5) Went to the meeting at potential school so at least have got that out of the way.
6) Smaller son had an excellent day at school again, according to his home/school link book.
7) It's gone really cold again but the stove is going now.0 -
swit-swoo Master Frith, a girlfriend who gets a special Xmas card, how exciting!!
Grr to the finding a new school for Master Frith the Younger, hope it'll all work out for the best - and soon!
Hugs - and look after yourself PurpleKitten x
1. I have a kitchen!! Ok, so the dishwasher isn't plumbed in yet and the hob/oven aren't wired in, but apart from that, i have cupboards and work tops etc, woohoo!!!
2. Helped out for the last time at the coffee /toddler morning, it was lovely
3. Was given a poinsettia and a lovely little Christmas decoration to say thank you for my help
4. My back and legs were very sore after rushing around at the coffee morning (and probably doing too much in recent days....) so I was very grateful to be given a lift back down the road home!
5. DD had a brilliant day at school and will be getting a merit certificate on Friday
6. NSD
7. Watching 102 Dalmatians with DD
8. Nice warm home, lovely cuddles with DD, and things are good0 -
Evening all.
mhagster - did you know (a fact-ette discovered while putting the quiz together) that, in Ukraine, it's considered lucky to find a spider's web on your Christmas tree? I can see why that belief has never caught on in Australia, the land of a thousand scarily poisonous spiders!
sparrer - it's a good quote, isn't it? Like many of my favourites, it's a Terry Pratchettism!
Frith - I'm sure things will get sorted out soon - you've fought for so long that it must turn out right soon, surely? Fingers crossed for you and younger DS.
1) Long lie-in this morning as I had the day off.
2) Finished my essay. :j It can best be described as 'clunky' - it's a long way from being the most elegant bit of writing I've ever done - but at least it's finished.
3) Chatting to my GM on the phone.
4) Wrapped my Secret Santa present for work - I think I might finally be getting the hang of this wrapping lark as it looks pretty good now it's done.
5) Ham and cheese omelette for dinner, with chips and salad.
Have a good evening, all - I'm off to read / watch television / do anything that doesn't involve writing an essay.Back after a very long break!0 -
Good evening all !
Frith- ooh I love scrap yards - did you have to climb over bonnets and stuff ? I used to spend many a Saturday afternoon dismantling bits off of old VW parts for my Beetle.
CCP - bleugh essays:(Well done you though , clunky or not :T
Mhagster - wow what a day - I hope that you find somewhere to work where you feel fulfilled.
5 for today
1. Line Manager got us all little bags of chocs. for Christmas .OH has just "saved" me from them, and has eaten the lot.
2. I have a feeling the the head of my unit at work is going to send me on a site visit just before I go on leave - which is totally and utterly pointless, and a WGC (wild goose chase) - I will not have time to complete a report as I will be on leave after Thursday and they are a litigious bunch . Defo. on the back foot , not comfortable about this at all. We will see...
3.Got home, DM on the phone to my sister (not the one with the backwards name ) . Sister said there is a rescue dog available, its a female 7 yrs, a Jack Russell .. she is bringing it down for Mum at the weekend. Mum saw photos of it and is actually , although she would never admit it, rather pleased. My sister is the only one who could "get away" with this . Not a replacement for Miss. Barker but a new adventure for them both and it will be well loved and looked after.
4. Been looking at stupid dinosaur dog hoodies and flashing collars on fleabay for the above ^.Nah , funny though:rotfl:
5.Just 3 More days left ...same as you Skintos I believe.
Have a good evening all !:AToo fat to be Felicity Kendal , but aim for a bit more of the good life :A0 -

am a bit annoyed at myself, the postman delivered a tax fine, I accept it is entirely my fault I literally completely forgot, it’s a hefty fine thou I will not be forgetting ever again!!!
1. A layin, well I think I passed out cold.
2. I cooked up a full English brekkie for lunch, don’t often do it as it’s a lot of washing up and wolfed down rapidly
3. We went off to the vets with a ferret all is ok, then hit the charity shops but nothing in them this time round.
4. We have some DVDs for over Christmas but then realised we don’t have any dvd players left working, and picked one up that we can hook up to the tv, we picked it up from home bargains on a complete impulse and it seems perfect.
5. Paid bills – phone bills this time we are on the cheapest tariff of 10 per month, it just seems to keep coming around quickly.
6. I am seriously chuffed I wasn’t due to get paid till after Christmas, but found out today they are paying early. Fantabulous news even if it does mean it has to last longer of course:j0
