The pain - a bit of a wasted journey as the ex has been ill in bed all day so our plans to visit family were scuppered and discussion re finance will have to wait til he's better then done via phone.
The pleasures -
1. Going home tomorrow! The hotel, as it's grandly called, has no ch  just a small electric fire, so it was bloody freezing in bed last night. I wore jimmies, a chunky cardi and socks and was still shivering. Can't wait to be back in my little ch home, oh how I appreciate it!
2. The warden of the sheltered complex where ex lives called the GP, apparently he just has a virus and been told to take paracetamol, but he's a man so it's worse than anyone has ever experienced and he's about to expire. When we first married his family told me to halve or double anything he said and it would then be somewhere near the truth (and they were right!) and he hasn't changed, ha ha
3. Dog and I spent the day mooching round the little town and saw some black swans and a plethora of other wild fowl, walked on the beach, drove into the country, had a toasted cheese sandwich for lunch in a lovely little tea room where they allowed mutt to come in with me(and gave him a bowl of water and scraps of beef) so not a completely wasted day
4. Bought a pair of fur lined Muckers, 'someone' forgot to put mine in the car and walking on the beach in my purple suede heeled boots is a definite no-no. They were only £10 in a closing down sale so a bargain, and DD is very likely to acquire them for walking her 5 dogs so not a complete waste of money (trying to justify to myself)
5. The rest of last night's Chinese for supper, and pud is bargain fruit from the greengrocer who was just shutting up when I got there. Everything here seems to close by 4pm on a Saturday.
6. Called in to the dairy which has been here for ever and got some clotted cream sent to a couple of people. Will collect mine before I leave tomorrow
7. Had a long chat on the phone with my lovely sister in law, who I haven't seen for far too long. She would be the only reason I'd come back again but alas some things aren't meant to be. Still, we have the phone and we write periodically so do keep in touch.
8. Almost forgot. Walking the dog at 7am this morning, the sky was navy blue with a huge gash, like torn silk, and a fiery orange glare breaking through it. I wasn't the only dog walker who stood to watch in awe.

Evening all.
My five for Saturday.
1. Another sports competition with DS1 (190 mile round trip this time) and pleasure number one was that the rain stopped, the sun rose and driving there suddenly became much easier.
2. I didn't bother to go and watch but curled up with my blankets on the back seat of the car and slept for a couple of hours, had an early picnic lunch - brunch really - and cuppa, and then went to see how DS was getting on.
3, He was doing OK so I didn't bother to hang around, but sat outside in the sunshine unravelling the sock I'm knitting to the point where I'd discovered I'd made a mistake (forgot some crucial casting-off) so sorted it all out ready to go again. It's lovely sitting outside knitting in the sunshine. I shall do that again.
4. Blue cheese crumbled into a big salad for my supper. DSs had baked spuds.
5. Getting home to see DS2 again. I missed him today.
I must get to bed. Early start again tomorrow.
Sweet dreams

I didn't manage to post yesterday but my few for the past couple of days are
1. Buying more christmas presents and managed to buy sale products for most of what I wanted.
2. Watching rugby.
3. Chatting to DS2 on phone as it was his birthday
4. Seeing DS1 as he came home to watch the rugby.
5. Cooked breakfast late so no lunch was needed.
6. Overtime claim put in on Friday I hadn't realised just how much I had done so will be lots of money in January.
7. Started to tidy the garden - looks much better but still need to do much more.
8. Watching strictly.0 -
Hello, nearly bedtime here, I need to iron the school uniforms before I go to bed....have been saying I need to iron for past 3 hours but have been reading a very page turning book instead
1. Woke early but read and then dozed off again. I never sleep that late and feel its a waste of hours, however after my late Friday night I obviously needed the sleep.
2. Sunday scone with OH and a read of papers and supplements.
3. Dropped DD2 off at cinema and went round shopping mall with OH and DD1. I bought a book for my Christmas that OH can give me.....this arrangement worked well last year!
4. A bit of tidying up. Have told DS that as he is no longer at school, no longer studying and not working yet that he needs to do more around the house. I have also told him I don't expect to remind him of this conversation.....we'll see!
5. Typed out my annual report....otherwise known as the Christmas letter to go in with cards. Wrote my cards out and will post them next week.
6. DD1 made a lovely rhubarb and strawberry sponge .
7. I have a shiny car thanks to OH washing it.....it still needs a Hoover though!
Enjoy your Sunday0 -
