Good evening all!
PK- don't overdo it , but then I always nag you about this :rotfl:
OT- your post reminds me of my 1974 PONY annual
VJsmum- its because you have THAT song playing in your head that you can't sleep. Smiley ketchup eh ? I hope your throat is better btw.
tilams - the current Mrs. Sonny ?? anything you want to tell us ? Your not doing a Henry VIII are you ?
5 for today
1. Bought some of the many kids in my family some Xmas presents at Ar*os 2 for £15 thingy. I would have liked the gun that fires sponge balls at plastic cans type of gift when I was a kid , so I hope the tiny chap in question likes it . Not sure the pet Chihuahua will though
2. Forced OH to cut some of the bushes, brambles down in the front garden whilst I raked them up . I can see out of the lounge window now . OH inadvertently cut through one of the TV cables outside whilst wielding the strimmer , which knocked 2 TV's out . He got a "splitter" for £1.99 and fixed it in the dark with a torch on his head like a coal miner - these things make my day :rotfl:
3. Used the offer at Mr. M's when purchasing gift vouchers which gives money off of each litre of petrol - only 60p but that equates to 6 rtc things PK style
4.Mr. M £5 curry for tea . It was OK .
5. Sorry cannot abide C.in Need stuff on tv, never have (Bah Humbug) so off to read Kindle
Have a good evening all !:AToo fat to be Felicity Kendal , but aim for a bit more of the good life :A0 -
PK - I read your post that YOU had gone in and gutted a place that had gone into liquidation! Slightly criminal, I thought!!
Here are my pleasures for today so far.
1) A good sleep! Couldn't sleep through the last week or so because of fluey aches and pains.
2) Sons off to school happily.
3) Had a good tidy up.
4) Put some tiles on Ebay for my brother, left over from his barn conversion.
5) Had a chat with the Exclusion Officer which cleared up a lot of my questions. Turns out smaller son is not just being assessed for a baseline for the new school to work from. He is also being studied to prove he can work well with a 1 to 1 but has no chance in a mainstream class... This is all in aid of his statement and will impinge on where he goes after the new school.
6) Rocket factory in one of our nearest towns set on fire... This made bigger son about half an hour late from school (the bus company is based in the fire town, apparently) and smaller son about 15 minutes late. Bigger son would have been 2 hours late (!) and I couldn't get him because I had to wait at home for smaller son in his taxi. Luckily, he was brought home by MrN. :-)
7) My sister popped in with some cake.
8) Went swimming with sons and my brother.
9) Sitting in the warm now waiting to watch Derren Brown at 9pm.0 -
It's Saturday already .....I missed out on a hurrah for Friday post because:
1. I'd had a good day at work , finished early to go to
2. A productive meeting at school.....me sat facing head teacher, deputy and year head. I wasn't a bit fazed by them and we had a positive meeting about the stuff that has been going on with DD2. She will not be in the same class next year and whisper....she has got a part in next years school production. ( so was nice to be able to tell her those thing when I got home.)
3. Then quick shower, posh body lotion on, joggers and off I went to the hairdressers, hair done, eyebrows done (ouch!) and back home to get my new posh frock on( all the way from UK) .OH had thought I was going out in my joggers!
4. Looking rather nice ( much nicer than usual work clothes and no make up) off we went on our end of year bash. A lot of the casual staff are leaving us as semester and exams have finished so we had a ( nice enough!) 7 course banquet at a Thai restaurant blooming miles away from where we all live, we are all this side of the city. OH drove and we picked up a few of the girls on the way. Went back to one of their houses for half an hour and us old fogies left early.....with one of the young fogies!
It was a freebie paid by work and the meal had been bought through a groupon voucher.....not my suggestion and I remain smug in the knowledge that my idea was a better one.....however, what the food and set up was missing was made up by the company!
5. Aaaaah the pleasure of taking my high heels off.......that's why I never wear them!
Off to start the day here....kids have a better social life than us today so need ferrying around.....hopefully time for a wee scone though!0 -
I've only missed one day's posting and you lot have all been so busy...
I forgot to post yesterday and I also forgot to vote and, because I forgot, so did both DSs (or vice versa) so they lost three from our familyI can't ever remember not voting when I've been in this country. Heigh ho.
A handful of pleasures then from the last couple of days:
1. DS1 has been making flapjacks which I can't eat atm but which smell lovely because they have dried strawberries in them. He's planning blueberries and mango as the next experiments.
2. Still sticking to the diet.
3. Taught a friend how to knit socks on 4 needles yesterday evening. Lovely to pass on the skill and she couldn't believe how easy it was.
4. Sorted out a large chunk of next year's calendar for the sports club and got our website updated.
5. Signed two on-line petitions. Felt good to be doing something, however small, about two issues that I felt were important.
Sweet dreams

As always a delight reading your posts
1) day off so stayed inbed and watched episodes 1-3 hebburn on iplayer
2) leisurely bath watching episode 4
3) then back to bed for episode 5
4) then off to watch skyfall - very good and the first bond i've seen in the cinema so #10 of my 50
5) then drink with mates and a meal
But now i'm home and xoh is out so after a very good upbeat day i'm feeling maudling again. Roll on day breakMrsSD declutter medals 2023 🏅🏅🏅⭐⭐ 2025

1. Made it in good time, one sticky moment when the engine wouldn't turn over after the second stop but kicked in after a few 'kind' words to the car. M4/M5 both very quiet so a lot of first lane driving, very fuel efficient
2. Muttley was as good as gold, his first long car journey for a very long time and he just slept through most of it
3. Tis wild down here! My hotel room overlooks the sea which I'm watching crash furiously over the railway line from a cosy, warm room.
4. Lovely meeting with friends followed by a good Chinese
5. Have chosen to have breakfast in my room so I can sit at the table by the window and watch the sea, I want to see as much of it as possible while I'm here.
Sleep tight. S0 -
Aaah Sparrer, your desire to watch the sea as much as possible reminds me of when I went to Niagara Falls, I stayed up nearly all night watching the water, it was magical (and lit up, I'm not a freaky night-sight gal
), such a happy time.......

Saturday tea time here been cool and cloudy today.
1. I always phone my friend back home on a Saturday morning but knew I didn't have much credit left so told her we might get cut off. I was upset telling her about DD2 and we got cut off. She phoned me back just as I was locating OHs UK mobile to call her back. She said she didn't care how expensive it was she was definately speaking to me. I loved her for doing that and said bye....I'll phone you straight back. I know she cannot afford to make international calls but I really appreciated that she tried.
2. Taxi driver for children this morning dropping off and picking up at various times. Had a mooch in one of the charity shops(smelly one) I rarely go in as it closes at lunch time. Got a long sleeved top for my winter holiday and DD2 got a pair of brand new shoes for $5. I have the same pair and they were not $5!
3. Chit chat with DD2 trying to sort out (in my head) what's been going on at school. I could ( and have) cry for her and what she has had to put up with, she is 12 years old and has had horribleness every school day for Past 9 months. However ,hopefully procedures will take place and improvements are made. It is so hard to see your child suffer ....especially your wee baby one! .....she went of to a pool party this afternoon....not the right weather for that!
4. Comfy shoes on all day.....heels banished back in the shoe cupboard!
5. Too late for a Saturday scone so had a very nice BLT.
DS put food shopping away, has loaded dishwasher and I'm sitting down with a new library book( otherwise known as maybe I'll have a wee snooze!)
Enjoy your weekend0 -
By the way kittikins very impressive NSD count!
I'm not so good at not spending money....better at getting bargains!0 -

Have been MIA for a few days as hands have been so sore I couldnt bear using laptop after work. Still have some pleasures
1. milder weather so heating off.
2. xrays done at local hospital with a "drop in" clinic so no need for an appointment and was only waiting half an hour
3. went into town with friend and got a few stocking fillers for DS including half price old spice from tesc0 so have nearly got all his xmas pressies now (hes not getting many !!;) ) How did old spice get to be so popular :rotfl:
4. email from co-op... electric prices are going down :j
5. popped round to see a friend and had a really good laugh
6. lovely chinese for tea last night and DS (17 yo) paid half from his remaining wages. Hope he gets some more shifts before xmas .... he might buy me some xmas pressies this year instead of me paying for my own
