1.Good weekend. Lovely blue sky yesterday. Went shopping with DH and he bought me a Barbour.
    2. The hazel leaves are bright golden yellow. Beautiful.
    3. Horses very fluffy and we went a calm stroll down the lane today.
    4. Watching things on iplayer
    5. easy dinner of left overs from yesterdays roast.
  • Good evening all !

Sparrer -Well done Detective Muttley ! Glad you both got home safely x

Frith- fantastic news about the bus pass :D Doesn't your Dad deal in mistletoe - I remember you said that he might be on Countryfile last year . Not great suggestions but could you spray some pine tree branches silver to go in the grotto, wind up lanterns ?, cut out snow flakes , or my lovely Dad used to put Polyfiller on our Christmas Tree branches (circa 1970 !) and it did look "snowy".

Blackbeard - :rotfl:I have always had an aversion to men with black beards so much so that I would not go into Santas grotto as a kid as there was a cardboard cut out pirate with a black beard outside of the grotto- I screamed the place down apparently. Is tilams going to come back ?

mhagster - heat ! tee shirts ! ice cream !

    5 for today

    1. Work was ok for my first day back .

    2. Work want to organise an Xmas lunch , I have no desire to go so will man the phones. This will NOT go down well - but I will not be told what to spend my own money/time on by my employers :o.Already going out with my ex work colleagues and will be overdosed on Xmas lunches/meals by then.Bah humbug !

    3. Got back home in time to shut the hens up for the night. Don't get the chance usually as it is too dark when I get home.

4.Made some dahl for tea with Mr. T curry and basmati rice - fed us both for less than £4 again. Trying to "run" the freezer contents down .

    5. Laughing at messages from my niece on FB . She is the spitting image of Helen on I'm a Celebrity - her Mum pointed this out years ago when Helen was in Corrie. My niece also has this pouting thing going on like the aforementioned actress, which we tease her about. She took this well :rotfl: .

Have a good evening all !

Part of the Furniture Combo Breaker I've been Money Tipped!
    1) Walked into town to get my recently-repaired shoulder bag re-repaired, as I discovered while I was away that the reason the repair was so cheap is that they did a half-donkeyed job of repairing it, so it fell apart the second time I used it. I got an apology and a proper repair today, though, so I won't complain too much.

    2) Found some Spanish seafood stew in the freezer for my lunch, which reminded me what a nice recipe it is and that I must make some more.

    3) Got my free carton of grape juice (sadly they didn't have the rose one, Tealady, so I got the purple one instead), and discovered when I got home that the voucher redeemed for 10p more than the actual cost, so they've now paid me to try their juice. :money:

    4) Made a big pan of sweet potato and cumin soup, in an attempt to recreate some I had while I was away, and it's wonderful - my last attempt at making soup was a bit of a disaster, so hopefully this success will help me get my soup-making confidence back.

    5) Just off to have a slice of my DF's HM apple cake, then will probably have an early night as I'm zzzz....

Hugs to all who need them, and apologies for the lack of personalised responses tonight - I'm just too tired to work out what I want to say! :o
Back after a very long break!

    Evening.

Had another long day at a sports comp yesterday and got back so tired I didn't have it in me to post. All your posts are a real tonic though. I love sitting down to catch up - makes me smile. :D

Blackbeard, have you come across 'International Talk Like a Pirate Day'? It's in September.

    Five more pleasures then:

    1. The smiles from those of our club's competitors who won medals yesterday.

    2. Actually got some useful vouchers in the post from Mr S today.

    3. Mackerel (tinned) and green salad with a spoonful of mayo for supper. Really delicious, I'll have that again!

    4. Am half-way through the Attenborough documentary on iplayer - very enjoyable - looking forward to the second half.

    5. Made some good inroads into the Xmas shopping. I have decided that I'm going to have it finished before December. :D

    Sweet dreams

    B x

    Evening

Frith - Great news about the bus pass
Sparrer - Glad you got home safely and are now warm again

    Pleasures for today,
    1. Extra 1/2 hour in bed this morning as OH and DD didn't need to leave until later.
    2. Voucher for some free chocolate from Thorntons thanks to this site:money:
    3. Sausage and Pasta soup for dinner a bit of a favourite in our house and there is enough left for me to have tomorrow. While dinner was cooking got a loaf in the bread machine and DD's packed lunch ready.
    4. Gettind DD and OH an advent calendar today on special offer. They sulk if I don't get them one each.
    5. Nice chat with my niece on the phone, she moves to Geneva on Sunday so is feeling a bit nervous.

Hugs to all who need them
  • 1. Gorgeous sunset last night - lovely backdrop to a view I must appreciate more.

    2. Good chat with a friend.

    3. DH starting to strip wallpaper in DS2 room.

    4. Tea of kippers, jacket potatoes and cauliflower which needed to be eaten.

    5. Biscuits at work.
  • 1) Rediscovering my scarf. It's a fine woolly one with an egg-yolk yellow background (free-range) and a black swirly Paisley-ish design. Charity shop bargain, of course.
    2) Left over curry and rice for tea, then a large blob of Greek yog with a small blob of home-made rhubarb conserve on top (just like a Mu11er but cheaper).
    3) Just ordered FIL's birthday presents on-line and the total was just under what I had decided to spend.
    4) Long chat with my after-work friend, who used to work for the same small charity that I'm at now. In fact, she introduced me to the place. It means I don't feel I'm boring her too much if I mention work.
    5) Just been to Book Club (church science fiction and book club) for wine, crisps and incidental conversation about the book. They're a very intelligent bunch of people. Mostly, I just sit there with my mouth open but they're very good company.
  • Sorry I’m late and I’ve not caught up yet, I was thinking about this thread on the way home, its been a great support over the past year.

    Work was ok.
Went straight from the station to pick up freegle items from a lovely lady, and the wood is so much better than we would have thought, now we think it’s to good for the job we had intended it for.:rotfl:
Bizzare but nice late dinner of RTC gammon and pasta salad.
Lovely winter snack of hot porridge just now.

Ok guys either i misread the signs or i am being played with. I feel like the mouse in the miss moppet story. Didnt post last night as we were busy having the row to top all rows. determined not to feel sorry for myself. Went to the doctors andexcitedly told her we were getting on much better but she wisely set an appointment for me in 2.5 weeks. I gave it my best. Any more will now be bad for my health.
    1) productive day at work which is just as well as plenty to do
    2) mum came round at lunch time (i didnt tell her about us getting on much better) and i made a using up pasta sauce nom nom
    3) then she gave me and a huge bag of books sorted on sunday to the charity shop. Picked up another empty bag to fill.
    4) got the munchies at work. Tempted by the sweetie box then noticed the tupperware of cake my lovely mum had brought round so a pound saved and a nsd.
    5) learning to crochet in the round. Hmmm not exactly a circle. Having difficulty knowing where to put hook in. Gonna have a look at youtube tonight.
