Hello everyone but especially Broomstick nice to see you back again.

I have been reading but not getting a chance to post with dodgy Internet.

    So:

    1. Sun is shining.
    2. Son has left school but exams start on Thursday ( such a different system here)
    3. Halloween tea held on Friday, girls had some friends over, a very pleasant evening.
4.de-cluttered 3 large bags of clothing and books to charity shop......managed to buy one beautiful handbag from kookai for only $5.99
    5. Spent 2 happy hours at library watching 2 episodes of Casualty.
    6. Had a Saturday lemon meringue pie and a Sunday scone. Need to slow down on eating rubbish piling weight back on :(
7.Work was overstaffed and under customered today....nice for a change and surprisingly day went by quick enough.
    8. New duckling family but oh my I'm now quite scared of the adult ducks! They are very protective and aggressive.....I'm just trying to get to work.

Think that's enough...hope you're all okay & good luck to Purple kitten today.

Purple Kitten - Good luck today hope all goes well
  • A few from the weekend

    1) A gluten free croissant or two for breakfast on Saturday with butter and honey, followed by grapes.
    2) Lunch with Mum, stepdad, SIL and brother in their local cafe. I don't know how they serve such good food at such low prices. The decor is basic but the welcome is cheery so who cares?
    3) Late out of bed on Sunday. My excuse is that it saves on the heating.
    4) Offered tea on Sunday evening by FIL and MIL so we had a nice roast chicken and a bottle of wine there.
    5) Wore my charity shop denim skirt as an experiment. They usually stick out at the back - something to do with my bum - but this one seems to be behaving itself. Definitely worth £3.99.

    Have a good week folks!

  • Hi all haven't been on here since the 23rd  just been soooo busy. Had my first paid job as a guest speaker at a University and it went brilliantly but wiped me out. Been invited back for next year :D also have the opportunity to write for an academic journal that is published in 14 countries....erm.....yes please! That is the good news but the bad news is my mum found a lump in her breast and has to go for a biopsy so there is a black cloud hanging over the family but hopefully it will be nothing.

    My five for last week (ish);
    1. Saturdays walk in the park followed by a bacon sandwich.

    2. Roaring success as guest speaker and lots of encouragement to keep doing what I'm doing.

    3. Lazy weekend with OH.

    4. Getting back into reading.

    5. Sleeping better than I have in a long while.

I will try to post and read daily as this thread really does lift my mood!

Hello all, been MIA for a couple of days due to visit to aged P.

Miss Moneysave - hope your mum is OK.
Ampersand - Ed and Emma go shopping eh? It's hardly Sid and Jolene in the shower, is it?

    So for past few days
    Saturday
    1. Free croissant on delayed train.
    2. Tour of old school. It is being bulldozed in April so this was our last chance to see it. Nice memories, they say you should never go back, but I'm really glad I did.
    3. School reunion on Saturday night. Mostly nice to catch up with friends but to have a reunion actually in the school hall was a feat many have not been able to achieve.
    4. Former dinner lady was there - she must be 90, was ramrod straight and a hell of a lot less scary than she had been when I was 13 :rotfl:
    5. Message on video from another old (and I mean old - she is nearly 100:T) teacher. One of my jobs as head girl (get me!! :D) was to buy her a retirement present. That was in 1976:eek: Brought a tear to the eye.
    6. Last but not least GYPSY TART for afters on the buffet. Anyone from Kent will know exactly why that is a pleasure.

    Sunday

    1. No hangover.
    2. We had a girlie sleepover at friend's house and a girlfriend and i had to share a double airbed which caused much hilarity
    3. Lunch with dad
    4. Uneventful journey home
    5. OH had cooked the most welcome roast chicken dinner i've ever had.

    TOday

    1. Had to go to work but the pleasure was actually being able to do some teaching
    2. coffee with colleagues
    3. DD has got a part in the school production. Not one of the major parts but we didn't expect that as she has only just joined. It will give her a bigger sense of belonging and she will get to know more people.
    4. Winter veggie casserole for tea from the freezer
    5. Hopefully a quiet evening. Except may see if OH wants to go to James Bond.

    Have a good evening all.
I wanna be in the room where it happens

Hope you had a great day PK.

Miss Moneysave, sending prayers for your mum xx

    1. Plasterer arrived nice and early and has started to do a great job, DD's room is looking fab :)

    2. Received £8 LV and MrT vouchers

    3. Bought a big bottle of Bailleys, slurp slurp :)

    4. Took DD over to a friend's so she could have a riding lesson. Cue one little girl massively in LOVE with the gorgeous pony.

    5. I played with lovely dogs whilst the lesson was going on :)

    6. Made amazing tomato pasta sauce using a couple of packets of YS tomatoes and lots of garlic, nomnom.

    7. Neighbour popped over with a couple of bars of chocolate for me and DD :)

    8. Applied for a job, fingers crossed eh?!

I'm back from my caravan break. It was torrential rain all w/e. The good bits were....
The boys loved the beach in the rain with wellies and puddle suits.
Chips in the street - how slummy!
Saving loads of money by taking our own food (didn't want to venture out for meals as hated the idea of coming back wet)
Teaching the boys Jenga and Frustration.
