Evening all.
1) Picked up my free copy of the W'rose magazine. :money: I can't find the voucher for the almond milk - maybe I've got a different copy? - but there's some lovely recipes so I'm more than happy with it.
2) Sorted out my plum jam - removed the fur and a couple of spoonfuls of jam from underneath, reboiled it and re-jarred it. Hopefully it will stay fur-free this time!
3) Watched some ice skating this afternoon - my 5ky subscription is something of an indulgence, but I do love having lots of different sports to watch.
4) Picked my last 3 alpine strawberries, and ate them, as it wasn't worth keeping them!
5) Made a start on my OU essay - as usual, I looked blankly at the question and couldn't think how to answer it at first, but soon came up with some ideas when I started really thinking about it.
6) Nice, warming savoury mince for dinner tonight.
Have a nice evening, all - I must go out in the cold and the rain to move my car shortly, as it's blocking in the person who's 'borrowed' my parking space and I can guarantee they'll want to get out the moment I start cooking.Back after a very long break!0 -
Hope this evening goes Ok for you, Kittikins. Been thinking of you as we trundled round Ikea. :-)0

Good evening all !
Frith- I am gob smacked how inappropriate to leave a message like that on your answer machine. I am afraid that I would deny all knowledge of receiving it - nothing in writing? No request asking you to call them once they reached answer phone due to the nature of the call ?!!
OT -brollies, tractors not a problem! A "killer leaf" or a road kill badger/fox which has been flattened like a disc from weeks and weeks worth of traffic rolling over it .. that's another story :rotfl:You just never know with horses . Once we were exercising the racehorses on the road and they all turned round at the same time and bolted back up the road as a big tree about 20ft in front just fell in front of us , no wind about or anything . Freaky but really thankful that their instincts were far sharper than ours !! Enjoy them x
CCP - I know the exact peanut cookies you are talking about - I love the peanut bits that have fallen off in the plastic tray . OU essay time .. cupboards need tidying etc???
5 for yesterday
1. Picked up my Euros.
2. Banked some change - another £10 in my brother's 50p's for his 50th fund- now saved £270 woo hoo !
3. Freebie tissues in the post.
4. Snooze in the afternoon.
5. 20 miles on exercise bike .
5 for today
1. Hair cut - short choppy bob
2. Another snooze .
3. Hens full of it ..as it's bright , breezy and cold here .Gets their "dander up" as our Sparrer would say .Washing dried in it though .
4. Chicken breasts in bread crumbs for tea done in oven.Used a Magg* packet mix this time .. nice , healthier than my own mix, which I fry.
5. The Film Australia is on with PHHHHEWWW Jackman in it . He sure is a thing of beauty and he can sing ...and dance... and read About 6ft 5 too .... with claws occasionally
Have a good evening all ! Keep warm xx:AToo fat to be Felicity Kendal , but aim for a bit more of the good life :A0 -
Evening
CCP - The vouchers for the almond milk were in a seperate insert inside the magazine.
Pleasures for today;
1. HM bread toasted for everyone this morning
2. Whilst DD was in the hairdressers popped into Mr.S and picked up some bits using vouchers and a couple of other reduced things. Also got given 2 free cake bars as there was a lady giving them out.
3. Mr. T this evening for weekly shop which came in under budget plus had a £5 off voucher. Picked up a few more RTC bargains as well.
4. Yummy warming dinner of sausage and pasta soup with enough left for OH lunch tomorrow.
5. Few minutes of sillyness with OH just being very childish
Hugs to all who need them0 -
Here are my 5 or so for today (Saturday)
1) Not a bad sleep.
2) Cooked brunch. Nice sausages from the village butchers.
3) Housework pretty much done.
4) Took some peelings and stale bread down for brother's pigs.
5) Went to Ikea and had tea there. :-)
6) Enjoyed watching Casualty earlier on.0 -
Hello again you lovely people. Hugs to everyone.
I'm sorry I ran away from MSE in March. In retrospect I should have stayed because I have had quite a tough six plus months. Things are still not looking brilliant but I've turned the corner enough to realise that I need the positive focus of this thread and now have tons of reading to catch up on.
I'll jump in with five for today and tackle the catching up as and when...
1) Watched the last episode of Wartime Farm on iplayer
2) Discovered that if you need to produce a pudding in a hurry and all you have is one tin of lychees saved for emergencies, you can split it into three ramekins and serve it up with teaspoons which makes a measly tin of fruit look bigger than it actually is.
3) Got a bin bag's worth of shredding done. I am awash with paperwork that needs to be sorted, filed, recycled or shredded.
4) DS1 came back from work with a bag of pretzels for me.
5) Long chat on the phone with my best friend. I needed that.:)
Sweet dreams

Thank you TILAMS, I love old fashioned puddings, spotted !!!!!! in particular. My SDad was called !!!!!!, was usually spotted behind his butchers block or having a bit of a flutter on a Saturday afternoon. He was pretty good at both, I'm sure your offering will match up. Re football, a pity more 'fans' aren't intelligent enough to understand/appreciate rugby.
Ampersand Columbus is still on his roundabout pointing across the sea. The cable car stop must have been pretty scary, it's 350m above the water! When I was a child Smarts had a big wheel on L'ton sea front, the operator didn't see my DM and myself at the top and went for his lunch...I've hated the things ever since
Frith am keeping you all in my thoughts for a speedy and successful resolution to yet another problem caused by so-called professionals
Skint/VJsmum the man who decorated my lounge last month said the same re gloss, so I chose satin. Will wait and see how it holds up.
DD what is your tattoo, or is it private? I got my first and only one (for now) at 62, the tattooist said he's done several for much older ladies, as Chicken has proved.
1. Have loved reading all the posts especially the animal ones, reminds me there's a world outside my bedroom!
2. The duck feather/down duvet I bought in @ldi last Spring, king sized for only £20, it's really come into its own. So cosy and possibly four times thicker than my old one. I must lose lbs changing the cover, but that's not a bad thing after the food I ate over the weekend
3. Looking out at all the leaves on the garden, both neighbours have raked theirs up but I'm not venturing out yet and anyway, I like seeing the beautiful colours.
4. The furpets, how do they know? They've been so loving and snuggly.
5. Enjoying David Kennard's A Shepherds Watch again, an easy read to fall asleep over and pick up again.
Sleep well
S
eta welcome back Broomstick, so good to see you come out of the broom cupboard and back in the fold x0 -
Hi sparrer not private at all.it's a lark ascending (after vaughan williams) so very tasteful unless you're my mum who thinks no tattoo is tasteful :rotfl:
tealady sillyness is what keeps us young

Broomstick sorry to hear things have been tough but glad to hear you've turned a corner... welcome back :wave:3 DS went to see James Bond with mates who came back here for afternoon and tea. One is staying the night. I like to see him with his mates rather than that blessed X box and love them to have friends here. According to a student yesterday, they start to come out of X boxing at 17 - only 4 years left then
My DS is 17 and this is the first year he decided not to spend some of his birthday money on x-box live. He still plays his games, but no more yelling into that blooming headset... yay
He does spend more time out in town clothes shopping and goes to cinema, but also started going swimming with a friend, all better than sitting in the black hole that is his bedroom IMO:D
:rotfl:re James Bong
Sparrer hope you are feeling better x
I have woken with a pounding headache this morning OMG I dont remember gloss paint smelling as bad as this !!! The smell is so bad my chest hurts, the only thing that seems to ease the smell is putting the heating on ... weird... but cant justify putting heating on just for that.
Hope to be back later with some pleasures.... Not sure I will paint downstairs with this wilko stuff, may be a trip to BnQ this morning..... hope you all remembered to put your clocks back last nite0% credit card £1360 & 0% Car Loan £7500 ~ paid in full JAN 2020 = NOW DEBT FREE 🤗

Some few pleasures for yesterday:
1. The green woodpecker was close enough in the garden for me to take an excellent picture of it.
2. Watching Strictly - I really enjoyed watching Louis & Flavia's Tango.
3. My car is now clean. The road on which I work is currently a building site so it frequently gets covered in dust/mud. It's nice that it is clean, though I still have to hoover her out.
4. A nice cup of tea brought to me in bed. That was yesterday, I made my own this morning.
5. Yesterday was an NSD, and I'm determined today will be if I have anything to say about it!
Have a great Sunday.
