my five for yesterday
1. A lazy day most of which was spent reading MSE!
2. A nsd
3. packing up another box of kitchen things in prep for the spring refit
4. out in the evening to meet with friends from my fellowship and having lots of laughs
5. falling in to bed and asleep as my head hit the pillow so didn't get to write my 5 in the evening, and waking this morning to find the laptop still on - what a waste of electricity
Have a good day everyone, have to remember to write our 5's before midnight or we have to wait til after 9am tomorrow. No MSE for 9 hours...whatever will we night owls do?!
S x0 -
Ooh, Olliebeak, your comment did make me laugh - it's all quite innocent (honestly!!!!) - I am not a vampire or a creature of the night!!! (well, not that I'm admitting to....)
My 5 for yesterday:
1. New season NCIS on TV.
2. Delicious meal made out of odds and ends - lefteover rice, peanut butter, some black bean sauce, veggies etc. Sounds an odd mix but it tasted divine. And yes, there was lots of garlic in there as well
3. Getting shot of a job at work that had been bugging me - almost sorted now.
4. Treating myself to a glass of wine at home - I very rarely drink at home (not much of a drinker full stop) - it helped me relax after a mad day at work.
5. Swapping messages with 2 guys on the dating website who seems nice - although time will tell...Life is not a dress rehearsal.0 -

Let's see if I can come up with five:
1. Made a delicious bolognese sauce. Bulked it out with a little quorn and handful of green lentils. Have frozen enough for another day. I didn't use red wine as we were out - and it still tasted great - so no more wasting unnecessary wine in future:D
2. Remembered to use my small hot water flask today. First I made a pot of tea, poured one cup (I hate dunking teabags in the cup) and then put the rest in the flask for a cuppa during the day. Then used it to store some extra boiling water and used that up to make the dogs 'gravy'.
3. Took an apple to the mall,so I wouldn't be tempted to buy chocolate as I always get hungry there.
4. Took two sheets of loo roll. Put two drops of lavender oil on one and put the other sheet on top to spread the fragrance. Then slipped each piece at the back of two radiators to create that gorgeous, relaxing fragrance - that also happens to mask the smell of whatever my collie has found to roll in today:rotfl:
5. Also put two drops in my bath, hubby likes lavender oil too which is lucky because he gets in the bath water after me!0 -

1) Shower was leaking and DH has fixed it, so it should be ok now. (Still got to repair the ceiling though where it leaked:eek:.)
2) Washing Machine broke down today, but I think some pipes were blocked and I had forgotten to clean the filter. So I gave it a bit of a flush out with Soda Crystals and it seems ok now.
3) Made an ultra quickie dinner out of pasta and salmon which was very nice and welcome after such a busy day.
4) 40 winks after tea, very welcome....showing and feeling my age a bit.
5) That beautiful red sunset yesterday evening, seems loads of us saw it. Isn't nature wonderful!
I think it's going to turn cold again, so keep warm and safe everyone.0 -
Evening all...
Only one day to go until the weekend... YAY!
The boss left at lunch time again today, and won't be in tomorrow either so I'll have some peace and quiet. She is not a bad person... just a complete control freak!! I don't think that her pregnancy hormone are helping either.
1) Popping out at lunchtime to meet a mortgage advisor. Looks like paying off my mortgage way early will not be a problem. She was really helpful and nice and didn't try to sell me insurance which was great.
2) Chatting to a recruitment consultant re another potential new job, and getting an email from another agency who wants to speak to me.
3) Not at all OS... but I am getting a cleaner. Yes I know it is a extravegance and would totally be frowned upon on this forum. But I don't care. I hate cleaning and ironing. The lady that will be helping me out sounded lovely on the phone so am looking forward to meeting her tomorrow... just have to tidy up tonight! LOL
4) Came home to a lovely smelling 5 bean casserole in the hotpot. I just shoved some stuff in and it seemed to work out well enough.
5) Nice early night tonight i think... perhaps I'll push the boat out and have a hot bath and go to bed with a couple of hot water bottles? Radical thinking I know...
Have a great evening everyone. Hope you are all safe and warm.
LMan plans and God laughs...Perhaps travel cannot prevent bigotry. But by demonstrating that all people cry, laugh, eat, worry and die, it introduces the idea that if we try to understand each other, we may even become friends.0 -
Evening all
Mine for today:
1 Left for school on time and dd walked all the way there with no moaning or screaming or jumping on the back of the buggy!!! :T
2 Water play at toddler group. Ds2 absolutly loved it and its all he did but he got drenched!! I packed a spare lots of clothes and reminded everyone else to do the same last night so all the kids could play with the red bubbly water!!!
3 Baking raisin and cinnamon bread - house smelt lovely
4 Went to a cooking demonstation after school which the kids could join in with. Ds1 loved it and even made the kids cheesy coleslaw in wrap for lunch tomorrow. He mixed it all (i grated the veg for him) and put it in the wrap. Hopefully he will eat it as when i made it for him about 3 months ago he refused!!!
5 Used some stodgy bread (dont think breadmaker was on the right setting) to make cheesy garlic bread for tea. Lovely!
6 got some reduced mincemeat with a useby date of aug 2011 so put it away for xmas next year.
Thats all for now.0 -
1) tea, porridge and honey in bed
2) having moneysaving packed lunches all this week with frozen cheese sandwiches using dp's hm breadmaker bread
3) lunching and chatting with work friend, having carrot cake, hot chocolate and marshmallows at Costa Coffee and still saving money compared to my usual working lunches!
4) productive planning meeting at work this afternoon, cautiously optimistic...
5) dp's roast chicken dinner!
plus
6) reading ACEY's post today put a smile on my face"We have to be kind because everyone is fighting a great, great battle" - Sir Richard Attenborough
"There is a special place in hell for women who don't help other women" - Madeleine Albright0 -
1) Hubby managed to find a building that hasn't been built yet & attend an interview.
2) Hubby was one of 12 people interviewed & has made it to the final 2, so proud he's got that far even if he doesn't get the job.
3) Eggy on toast for tea, I love eggy on toast.
4) Hubby looked gorgeous all dressed up for his interview, I wanted to ravish him on the spot.
5) Been given a load of 2nd hand clothes for DGD

Ollie thank you for your posts, I am sure they make everyone feel special.
Not sure I can get to 5 today, as it's been a bit mixed again, so I'll do as many as I can.
1) I can now have a shower again, without flooding the kitchen. It's funny how we take these things for granted until we can't have them.
2) Washing machine has not magically fixed itself, as I first thought, but the repair man is coming tomorrow. So hopefully it will be mended soon....another thing I tend to take for granted until it stops working:o
3) Tea tonight courtesy of DMiL when we visited her...she still loves making us tea even though she 88!
4) Bumped into DS1 and his OH at DMiL, they were visiting at the same time as us....what a lovely and unexpected surprise.
5) Finding out I was £10.07p better off than I thought I was:D
There...I got there in the end.
