Hello all
I'm early for once. So far for today !!
1. It's Wednesday so DH does the walk to school and back.
2. Just spent an OS hour or so in the kitchen, made an apple crumble and fish pie for tea and a carrot cake!! baking them all at once, super OS or what !! I had the radio on and it just reminded me of being in my Mums steamy kitchen when I was little, she'd be baking, I'd be scoffing the glace cherries- happy days
3. DS will be home from school soon.
4. Got lots of housework done today.
5. Going to have a play with my new sewing machine this evening.
Have a nice day everyone.

Hi Reverbe, this is Holocaust Memorial Day. The 65th anniversary of the liberation of Aushwitz. The candle was to make us think and remember. It worked i still light one each anniverary.
OMG is this a new thing as a Memorial Day or just not publicised enough? I am ashamed to say I have never heard of this.Certainly was never mentioned in my school. What Would Bill Buchanan Do?0 -
Haven't posted here for ages
, but just had a quick read and remembered that I should be counting my blessings, especially on HMD.
Mine for today
1. Masses and masses of cooking and baking done. Very satisfying.
2. 3 lovely fresh eggs from my hens.
3. All the ironing put away the day after it's ironed. (most unusual in this house)
4. 3 paperbacks for £1 from the charity shop.
5. Looking forward to a bubble bath and an early night.0 -
Evening all,
The boss was being a pain again today... happily she left at lunchtime to go to a meeting in London. So that is my first pleasure:
1) Afternoon of being boss-free. I managed to get loads done though.
2) Leaving the office on time (kind of... only 15 minutes late today, normally it is a couple of hours!)
3) Telling 3 other colleagues about the benefits of overpaying your mortgage. And telling them about Eamon the mortgage pig. Everyone is very excited about it!
4) Getting an email from a friend - she is coming up to see her parents who live in the next town this weekend so she is going to pop in to see me
5) Chatting on Facebook to my friend in Australia. We used to share a house in London about 8 years ago. She's struggled with depression and her weight over the years, her dad died about 6 months ago and she was bullied at work by her colleagues until she couldn't take it anymore so had to leave just before Christmas. It was really nice to hear that she is excited about her forth coming trip to the US and how she was making plans for her future.
Night all.
TamsinMan plans and God laughs...Perhaps travel cannot prevent bigotry. But by demonstrating that all people cry, laugh, eat, worry and die, it introduces the idea that if we try to understand each other, we may even become friends.0 -
Ladyhawk Glad to hear your friend is positive and exited about future plans. Thanks sparrer, I must warn you, that gingerbread cake is very moreish! We also love hot gingernut biscuits from Rose Carrarini. dp leaves the cayenne pepper out as otherwise they're a little hot for dd. I've linked to one very close to what's in her book 'Breakfast, Lunch, Tea', though in the book it says to add just a pinch of cayenne! The biscuits end up crisp on the outside and a little chewy on the inside, gorgeous! And they don't get anywhere near the freezer.
Here are mine for today:
1) tea, porridge and jam in bed
2) chat and cuddles with dd before leaving for work this morning
3) receiving a lovey-dovey text from dp this afternoon
4) M&S Dine in for £10 this weekend
5) sneaking in one from yesterday, Sunday lunch on Hairy Bikers Mums Know Best"We have to be kind because everyone is fighting a great, great battle" - Sir Richard Attenborough
"There is a special place in hell for women who don't help other women" - Madeleine Albright0 -
Evening all
Mine for today:
1 Brisk walk into town with my friend and a good sort through of sale stuff and finally got some soda crystals (i refuse to pay what asda charges)
2 Got the kitchen and bathroom cleaned today
3 After my failings of the sock dog last night I started him again this afternoon and have cracked it! He actually looks kind of like a dog :T. Will finish him tonight for the birthday party on saturday .
4 Heard from a friend who I have been worried about recently. Good to hear she is ok.
5 Dh did his exam today (i dont know what in, something to do with work!!) and thinks he did well, so should be less stressed and not studying all evening anymore! :j
Hope everyone is ok.0 -
Hi everyone, here are mine for the last couple of days.
1) Shower was leaking and DH has fixed it, so it should be ok now. (Still got to repair the ceiling though where it leaked:eek:.)
2) Washing Machine broke down today, but I think some pipes were blocked and I had forgotten to clean the filter. So I gave it a bit of a flush out with Soda Crystals and it seems ok now.
3) Made an ultra quickie dinner out of pasta and salmon which was very nice and welcome after such a busy day.
4) 40 winks after tea, very welcome....showing and feeling my age a bit.
5) That beautiful red sunset yesterday evening, seems loads of us saw it. Isn't nature wonderful!
I think it's going to turn cold again, so keep warm and safe everyone.Sealed Pot Challenge 7 Member 022 :staradmin:staradmin:staradmin

Hi everyone. Think I had a rather lucky day yesterday with a few bits, so here are my OS pleasures.
1) Finding a pound coin on my way to work. Doesn't happen every day!
2) Being given a couple of free chocolate bars.WHOO HOO!
3) Being given a couple of complimentary bags with travel things in - mini toothbrushes, ear plugs, moisturisers, etc.
4) The look of "what an amazing idea" when I suggested filling one of those bags with colouring pencils and giving it as a present - it had not been consideredI felt good.
5) Finding a jacket in my size reduced to £10 in Mr T. Happy days.
I'm feeling rather hormonal tonight. I hate days like this as I never know how I'm going to react. Poor DH.Right now, I'm going to go watch QI (the long version on Dave) and get a bit of cheese to eat. Strange!
Take care everyone.
Kitchenbunny xx
