    Evening all,

Feeling a lot better today after not feeling so good for the last couple of days. Mine for today:
    1. Receiving a parcel of goodies from the body shop sale, one of the bottles had leaked though. When I called they were really helpful and refunded the product plus let me keep it. With a bit of a wipe down it will still be fine to give as part of a present for SIL.
    2. Getting back into the Meal plan for this week, it went very wrong yesterday and we had take away. Back on track OS today though and enjoyed more.
    3. Finally getting my brothers to agree on where to have our parents golden wedding anniversary party in July. Once agreed bossing them about as to what jobs they had to sort out.:D
    4. Chatting by email to one of my old school friends we don't seem to talk as often as we should but once we start it just falls into place so easily. Plus she has decided to start training as a nurse in September at the grand age of 40. She had her DD very young so hasn't had the chance till now. I'm very proud of her :T
    5. Getting our mortgage statement for the year and seein all our overpayments on it. We have never had anything in the overpayment box before:money:

Happy Birthaday House Elf hope you had a lovely day:beer:

    Hi all

Ollie, your post made me think, you might have a point, perhaps I AM DOING TOO MUCH, no wonder I am always so tired! Need to find ways of cutting down on activity, this is something that happens to me a lot, as soon as I have some free time I seem to fill it up. Thanks for making me reflect on this!

Here are mine for the last couple of days:

    Yesterday:

1 - Was planning to go to a 7:30am yoga class but instead chose to stay under the blankets and sleep another hour!

2 - Craft class (morning), managed to do the mitred corners on the patchwork cushion.

3 - Soup and french bread for lunch in a little cafe that is also a florist shop. Very reasonably priced, home cooking, lovely atmosphere.

4 - Craft class afternoon, finished the cushion.

5 - After the class, special offer body treatment at the So Organic store, where they have recently opened beauty treatment rooms. BLISSFUL! And I got the special offer price again because they valued my feedback the first time!

    Today:

1 - Oat groats porridge for breakfast, cooked on the woodstove overnight.

2 - Travel to my volunteering was smooth and I was there in 40 minutes.

3 - Volunteering is quite interesting and it makes a change from sitting at home working all by myself (even if I quite like that, too).

4 - Nutritional assessment at special offer price for this week and they could see me straight away - now I just have to be careful about my food and take my supplements, and all will be well (hopefully!)

5 - Mexican dinner at home, all homemade (except for tortillas): refried beans, salsa, guacamole, salad. We all love it.

    Good night everybody xxx
Finally I'm an OAP and can travel free (in London at least!).

    5 for today!

    1) Little son coped well at school despite having a cold. He did come home and immediately lie in my bed, swooning dramatically and had to have Cbeebies to watch on my laptop. And some Minstrels. And lots of drinks...

    2) Went to college. It was lovely to go there and to see everyone but it was a good job my counselling was only pretend and on my fellow students today, just couldn't get my thoughts in order!

    3) Asked a mum at school if her son would like to come and play with little son. Then realised my bigger son is friends with her bigger son so both her sons are coming to tea on Friday. I was telling little son's paediatrician the other day how he doesn't really do friendships (apart from his brother) then I asked if he wanted a friend to play and he said, "Yes, I'll have S"! He's never agreed to it before.

    4) Noticed there is a programme on about Selective Mutism next week, one of the things little son has. Good timing! It was funny when I went on the school trip with him because I took it for granted that he wouldn't speak to any of the volunteers at the museum. The volunteers asked the children their names and when my son didn't answer, after a few seconds, the other children would say "That's C" - because they're so used to covering for him!

    5) Made baked potatoes for tea. For a long time, I couldn't get them right but I think I have it now - just over an hour, 190 degrees with a skewer through the middle. They were nice with some left over chicken, mayo, lettuce and cheese.

    6) Little son went to sleep early so big son was allowed to get up again and come down and watch Holby City with me. He sat on the sofa and said, "I get a fuzzy tummy when I allowed to come and sit downstairs with you. Its half excitement and half being happy" :-)

    7) Looking forward to tomorrow which is a free day. Going to mum and dad's to hoover my car out as its a disgrace. (Can't do it here as there is no parking outside the house where I could plug the hoover in).

    L
P.S While I was typing this, little son talked in his sleep (they both do it a lot) and said, "Sam, we're going to the fair" Sam is his friend who is coming on Friday for tea!

not posted for a while. But here goes

    1) bit double edged this one, made my mum some coconut ice (promised to do this at xmas) posted it, arrived ok, but she has diet sheet from the hosp (high potassium) and coconut is on the no-no list (says she will eat a little bit a day awwwww bless)

    2) getting on well with the crochet cape for DGD even though its on a 2.00 hook which feels like crocheting with a pin

    3) having a baking day last saturday, first lot I've done since xmas, felt good when the tins were filled with, coffee and walnut muffins, apple cake, twinks, cheese scones.

    4) sorted out my next crochet project, am making ripple bankets/snugglies for my DGDs have all year to make them so no pressure

    5) looking forward to spending the weekend with just me and OH and watching series 3 of Gavin and Stacey (well thats the plan....whats betting he has to work Saturday :(

Evening all  - hope everybody has had a good day :).

bella - great Turkey Drumstick/Thigh bargain there :j.
newlywed - wtg on splitting all your meat so well - makes such a difference to the budget doesn't it. I well remember the first time I froze mince and was faced with the problem of a full pound of the stuff when there's only the two of us - but then didn't even think of cooking the whole lot and freezing half - oh the shame of it :o.
Reverbe - seems like there's a few more of us Lancashire Lasses on here than I thought . I'd never heard of Holocaust Memorial Day either - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Holocaust_Memorial_Day_(UK) - apparently it's only been held in the UK since 2001 and this year is 65th Anniversary of the Liberation of Auschwitz.
savingforoz - hope you don't mind me saying this - but my mind is boggling at '(garlic) Didn't keep the clients at bay, though...:D'; 'Bunking off work early to go see a favourite client' and 'His office is in the middle of a forest' - sounds v-e-r-y intriguing ;).
thriftykitty - hard to get back into 'the swing of things' after a Christmas break isn't it - well done you :).
bunny too - I got an e-mail this morning asking me to go to a link and click on a candle to 'light it' for Holocaust Memorial Day - I'd never heard of it before either. wtg on coming in under budget for grocery shopping :T.
jollymummy - very productive afternoon there :) - hope you're getting used to your new sewing machine - amazing how different machines can be and how they take a while to get used to.
Haribo - wd to 'your girls' on their three gifts to you :).
Ladyhawk - :j at your boss being out of the office this afternoon - isn't it wonderful how things run more smoothly without them :T.
GirlySquare - thanks for the recipe link - think we'll be having a 'ginger baking day' this weekend ;).
nuttybabe - wd on getting to grips with your 'sock-dog' and fingers crossed for your OH on his exam result :).
elizabunny - wd to your OH on fixing the shower himself and not having to call in a plumber :T. lol at your 40 winks after tea - I lost 30mins of Midsomer Murders tonight :( and I was so looking forward to it - woke up in time to find that I was right about the identity of 'the creeper' ;).
zarazara - love your no.4 - I don't have a woodburning stove, but I should be more grateful for a warm and comfortable home - especially after seeing the devastation in Haiti - thanks for the reminder.
Kitchenbunny - wtg on your find AND your freebies :T - and good luck with your hormones - life is so good without them for me now .
Tealady - don't worry about your no.2 too much - sometimes we all need to resort to a takeaway for whatever reason forces the issue. The OS Wagon is always here to get back onto again :).
Caterina - wd on finishing your cushion at your craft class :T and on your special price body treatment - sounds really good - I'm sure I'd fall asleep with something like that :o.
ACEY - hope your sons enjoy having their 'guests' over on Friday and awwww at your little son talking in his sleep. When my three were little, I had a talker, a walker and a teeth grinder - no peace even when they'd gone to bed :rotfl:.
Dazi - shame about your mum not being able to enjoy your coconut ice properly - but at least a little at a time won't do her too much harm. wtg on your crocheting for your dgd :T and all that baking .

going to leave posting my own till the morning cos it's late and I need my bed - got an early start in the morning. nitey nite all and (((((HUGS))))) who need them - love Ollie xxx

    Morning everybody  -

bunny too - Hope you enjoyed your visit with friends from your holidays. We go to Scotland (Fort William) every year, but never yet been to the Games. Booked again for mid-May this year :j and can't wait.

I don't remember ever being taught about the Holocaust at all at school (1955-1967), but I think the subject was still 'very raw' at the time and I remember discussions on TV and lots of wartime film footage being shown. I was brought up with being very aware of what had happened and Anne Frank's Diary was part of our recommended reading for 'O' level Literature. Another book that I remember reading when a bit younger was 'The Silver Sword' and also watching the TV Series aged about 6 - I think the whole business of WWII and the Holocaust was still so fresh in the minds of the adults around us, as most of them had lived through the war themselves. I do remember the Berlin Wall being put up, the teacher telling us about it the next day in school and the awful TV footage of people shouting and screaming out of windows/through railings to their relatives on the other side. And also some people trying so hard to get across to the side that they really belonged on and being shot while making the effort to escape. As Human Beings we must never forget what happened and have to learn from the mistakes of the past - not laying blame, but learning not to victimise anybody for nationality, faith, appearance or lack of ability.

This is always good to remember: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/First_they_came...

    Mine for yesterday:

    1. Very busy day with visiting tenants and giving out notes about free keysafes.

    2. Toast for breakfast and toast for lunch as I discovered that I needed to attend a meeting that I'd completely forgotten about :o.

    3. Back late from meeting, so quick evening meal of defrosted whoopsied deli-curries :o. Thank God for freezer whoopsies.

    4. Lovely long chat with my youngest sister - mostly about silly childhood stuff. She'd bumped into some cousins in a restaurant who were having a celebration time and had a wedding album on the table. She'd looked through it and says she found a very 'glamorous photo' of me. Lord alone knows what she calls 'glamorous' as I don't remember EVER feeling like that - especially at the age of 18! I always felt like the girl in the old song 'At 17' by Janis Ian - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=efHOIT1ROk8 . Can't wait to see this photo - cousins are bringing the album to mum's 80th birthday party in a couple of weeks.

That's me done for this morning - need to get off and ready for work. Hope everybody has a good OS/MSE day. (((((HUGS))))) all round for those who need or want them - love Ollie xxx.

    Yesterday:-

    1. Gardening, not a lot but it's little and often at my age.

    2. Making buckwheat blinis - a wheatfree alternative to bread.

    3. Finishing the pom-pom scarf for my friend.

    4. Making chocolate fairy cakes.

    5. Cheap tea - rissoles with 4oz of the LO lamb from Sunday which I had frozen away. With the addition of lots of chopped (frozen) mint and a dot of balsamic vinegar, they were delish.

    Morning all!

    My five blessing for yesterday:

    1. Getting a new to me car, and not panicking about the cost as had emergency savings and extra money left in the bank due to trying to eat up what we already have in the house!

    2. Lovely friend ferrying me about to collect the car and generally helping me out.

    3. A fantastic cup of Illy made for me just when I needed it!

    4. Clearing and decluttering the hallway so I didn't come home from work and sigh at the state of it!

    5. Helping DS sort out some school stuff and him being happier and confident that he always has support no matter how busy everything gets.
