5 OS Pleasures in your Day Today part 2

Evening all,
My day started out grumpy... got in early to sort out my bosses desk (I had left some files on it because we are getting a new cupboard to put them in) and all she could do was scowl and moan that she is too busy and has higher priorities than tidying her desk... grrr... I even offered to sort the stuff out for her and all she could do is be rude back to me. I know it stupid but it really was annoying since I had made an effort to stay late last night and get in early this morning so she wouldn't have to deal with it.
So... on the more positive side of things...
1) by lunch time my mood had improved
2) I had made peanut butter biscuits for our team meeting which everyone enjoyed even though I had brought the box of rejects instead of the good ones! Doh!
3) I've been asked to do a video interview for a charity I do some work with... I have 3 weeks to look gorgeous!
4) Chatting to my mum and dad on the phone - my dad was very ill a few weeks ago so glad to hear he is much better.
5) Deciding to apply for a new job - so will spend this evening updating my CV.
Have a nice evening all.
LMan plans and God laughs...Perhaps travel cannot prevent bigotry. But by demonstrating that all people cry, laugh, eat, worry and die, it introduces the idea that if we try to understand each other, we may even become friends.0 -
hiya all
got to be quick, dh had laptop all evening and has just popped to loo so i have swiped it back!
Ollie - dd used to eat rice, infact she wanted it so i really dont know why she went like that although it may have been the peas i put in it!! should have used veg that was easier to hide!! :P
Mine for today:
1 Wore my new top and jeans with the boots dh got me for xmas and i felt brilliant and got a few comments up the school on why i was looking posh!!
2 Some of my plants are sprouting!!! yay! dont think i even managed that last year.
3 Got my £4.50 25kilo sack of potatoes today and they are maris piper and the top ones at least are great (was a bit worried they may have been a bit off!!)
4 Dd ate all her tea, infact everyone did, I cheated though and cooked something i knew she would eat (and got rid of the chicken legs in the freezer that dh said he would not eat and he did ssssshhhhhhhhh!!!) but at least she has eaten it as tomorrow its shepherds pie filled with veg!
5 After asking os about cooking a cake using pudding rice I actually found a recipe, I changed it a bit at the weekend and was not that impressed with it but today i tweaked it even more, split the mixture into 3 and tried 3 different things 1 - with jam which dd loved 2 - with cinnamon and mincemeat which ds1 loved and 3 with cimmamon, mincemeat and crushed digestives which I loved! Well impressed with myself. So I can use up the mincemeat, digestives and pudding rice that is lurking in the cupboard!!!
Thats it, dh wants laptop back and i have a sock dog to finish. Instructions just arent the same on my phone - far too small to actually understand!!!!0 -
5 for today!
1) Went with my smaller son on his school trip. Did enjoy it. He is VERY slow to settle tonight and I can hear him talking to his brother about the loom, trying on the Tudor clothes and so on. :-)
2) Nice chat with my sister over the phone. She is coming over on Thursday so we can go swimming. (Because it is an unstaffed pool, I need a 2nd adult every time I take the boys).
3) Good tea, fresh pasta and leeks. And a yoghurt.
4) Spectacular sunset. I'm glad I sorted out the garden yesterday, it does look more cared for.
5) Sitting in front of the fire watching television. Just waiting for sons to fall asleep so I can go to bed!

Evening everybody
- been quite a dull day here, but at least the rain held off altogether
.
savingforoz - two really warming 'January-style meals' there - do you have recipes please?
Mr Lahey - that's the beauty of kids - can be like 'chalk 'n' cheese'. You wouldn't even think that my two boys/men are even related, never mind brothers - as different in personalities as they are in looks. They grow up way too quickly, giving us all manner of different emotions along the way. Now all mine are adults (36, 31, 30), I can sit back and say 'Phew, thank goodness the teenage bit is over and done with - and they've turned out pretty darn good!' - still doesn't stop me worrying about them though. wd to you on being a great dad with yours.
budgeteer - wd on sowing your garlic - hope it work out for you and wtg on doing without your knitting magazines. For many years I 'collected' patterns from Woman's Weekly, amassed lots of Prima magazines, embroidery magazines - then realised how many I'd accumulated over the years and just stopped. Majority I've never even done the patterns, but I've kept them all the same- maybe one day they'll head into the recycling .............
Reverbe - I didn't relaise that you're another Lancashire Lass (same as me originally (St.Helens)) - thought you were a born-Londoner.
bunny too - http://www.allkids.co.uk/boredom-busters/index.html - gives a list of sites to try out - some of them are American, but not all. This is a really lovely website: http://www.bekonscot.co.uk/ with a build a virtual village bit: http://www.bekonscot.co.uk/fun-and-games/virtual-village/create/ I'm sure you'll find lots to keep kids (and yourself) occupied. There's always http://www.bbc.co.uk/cbbc/, http://www.bbc.co.uk/cbeebies/ and http://www.citv.co.uk/page.asp?partid=1for stuff to do with TV programmes.
GirlySquare - that's the kind of work-day that I used to like - now I work from home all the time and it's great at this time of year - no more going out to work/getting home in the dark :j.
Ladyhawk - good luck with find a new job, it's sounding as though your boss just doesn't do anything to deserve your hard work - especially when you make the effort to 'feed the troops' at the meeting.
nuttybabe - oops about the peas - sounds like it was all their fault;) - what is it with kids and green-coloured food! Mind you, I've got a 36yr old who runs a mile at the sight of sweetcorn :rotfl:. Wd on wowing the other mums at the school gates.
ACEY - sounds like the school trip really caught your ds2's imagination- great when things like that happens and turns school into something really interesting for them.
I'm going to leave my own for tomorrow morning as I'm really tired now. Nitey nite and sleep tight all - love Ollie xxx0 -

2. a nsd :T
3. Reading Mr Lahey's post. .with an attitude like his the children and he are always going to be very good friends
4. Lots of cooking going on today, rolled breast of lamb in the sc, 2 loaves in the bm, GirlySquare's ginger cake - which was so yummy! I'll definitely be making more of that and hope it gets as far as the freezer
5 .Amanda Holden's Fantasy Lives. Thought it was going to be boring but it wasn't at all and she worked her sox off to earn her place as the centre of the finale. Good for her, blowed if I'd have her stamina

Morning All
My 5 for yesterday
1. I noticed the lovely sunset too last night. (Stayed late at work).
2. Finished a classroom display. My colleagues tease me that my room looks like a primary classroom, but I love to see the kids work on display. My classroom would look busy and interesting whether it was a special school or mainstream! Anyway the kids like it and it's the kids that matter:D Sorry that turned into a bit of a rant!
3. Free night out with DD. Tix to see 'The lovely Bones' from See Film First. Took our own popcorn, (of course!). Good, but as usual, the pictures are better in the book!:)
4. Trip out in the minibus to local garden centre in the afternoon. Part of Environmental studies course. Nice to get out for a change. Not many opportunities for visits when you teach maths!
5. DD very excited about her trips to the theatre and a day in London as part of her college courses. (Unfortunately they will cost about £60:eek:).
Must dash. Birthday today - try to look presentable!
Have a lovely day! x0 -
