5 OS Pleasures in your Day Today part 2

I've not had a particularly good day today... no reason that I can put my finger on really, just out of sorts.
1) I collected my glasses from the optition - the lenses had to be refitted because they originally cut them too small.
2) chatting to my friend who lives in Wales on Facebook. We chat most nice - he's such an intelligent and interesting man.
3) showing my colleagues how much interest they can save by even slightly overpaying their mortgage... they were stunned! Hopefully they will all do something about it now.
I don't think I have a 4 and 5 today.
Night all
LMan plans and God laughs...Perhaps travel cannot prevent bigotry. But by demonstrating that all people cry, laugh, eat, worry and die, it introduces the idea that if we try to understand each other, we may even become friends.0 -
Evening all,
Feeling a bit under the weather today so left work early. Anyway my 5 for today:
1. Having a quiet couple of hours to myself this afternoon before OH and DD got home.
2. Changed the meal plan and we had pasta with some bits left in the fridge. It was very easy to cook and tasted really nice.
3. Something we put on ebay last night sold really quickly so posted out today.:T
4. Big pile of ironing done this morning before work so basket empty again until tomorrow:cool:
5. Finding 20p on the way to work this morning, more for the jar:T0 -
Hi All,
Mineallmine I am inspired by the growing total of things you have decluttered. Well done!
ACEY very envious of your view. I did my teacher training at Worcester uni, and really miss my daily drive down the M5. I spent quite a lot of my student loan in farm shops on my way home too, Scotrae!
5 for today
1. Making Spaghetti carbonara from last nights leftover chicken and some ham ready to go out of date. Much nicer than a jar!
2. Hearing the birds singing as we left for swimming at 5.30am this morning. Lighter mornings are on their way! Hooray:T
3. Niice chat with swimming mummy this morning. So lucky that the mums are all so nice, as we spend a lot of time in each others company watching our girls.
4. Two strapping year 11 boys giving me a couple of drawings for my classroom 'gallery'.
5. One of my bosses sending me a text at home telling me not to worry about something she knew I would fret over all evening. She is soooooo nice!:A
Didn't think I would manage 5, as it's been a bit of a stressful day. Pupils all unsettled........all my preparation wasted!!!!! Didn't really need to get up at 4am to get ready!:rotfl:
PS Ballequidsin I know just what you mean about your friends thinking you are barking. :rotfl:I have that too!

Hi everyone, here's my five pleasures for the day:
1) Getting my blog set up and posting some of the recipes I've made/am going to make. It's been fun setting it up and working out what I'm going to do with it.
2) Turning leftover lasagne sauce into a pasta bake - always well-received and always tasty!
3) My book arrived! I'm now happily nestled between the pages of Nella Last's War so if I'm not around much you'll know why
4) Finding an eye pencil which doesn't drag on my eyelids, and I think I'm going to stick with it.
5) Getting all of the housework-y chores done before sitting down for the evening. I feel a lot more relaxed now.
The day has been so-so; I had a headache after work so thought it might be caffeine withdrawal. I went and got a small can of cola and a chocolate bar, and neither workedGot home and took some paracetamol; they worked, as did the hot meal. So I spent money I didn't really need to *sigh*
Anyway, time to sit down, finish checking the forums and then read. Have a nice evening, everyone. (((hugs))) to you all.

My pleasures today:-
1. Trawling through the ironing aided by an audio book from the library to keep the boredom at bay.
2. Picking up the stitches for the bands of a cardigan I've knitted - all 441 of them, again aided by the lovely audio book.
3. DH bringing my home £17 from my card sales at his ex place of work.
4. DH fetching me 3 yes 3 more of the special offer lamb shoulder's from Mr. S. So glad I keep a fund specially for this kind of stock piling.
5. DGD making the pastry leaves for our very frugal but much acclaimed chicken pie for dinner tonight. She had a lovely time, an OS cook in the making I think.

Evening everyone,
Have had a busy few days and away for the weekend, but here are my pleasures for the last few days.
1) Enjoyed a nice weekend away with DH, lots of lovely walks and time to relax.
2) Bargain purchase from Cancer Charity Shop, a really nice quality jumper for DH and only £4.50p.
3) Buying a nice new classic cookery book....I love cookery books.
4) My nice big pot of HM veggie soup bubbling away on the hob.
5) Visiting my DM at her Nursing Home -our special time together.
Hope everyone is ok and 'HUGS' to anyone who needs one.Sealed Pot Challenge 7 Member 022 :staradmin:staradmin:staradmin

KitchenBunny and ThriftLady - I've had a wee peep at your blogs via the blog thread. Good for you! Thrift Lady - are you the Worcester lady that once told me she lives in one of those roads named after a castle? Or are there just lots of Vigornians on here?
HouseElf -I did some of that at Worcester's seat of learning too! (The 'four lettered version'!) If you travelled home northbound you might well have called at my local farm shop!
So, my five...
1. Making sausage butties for my boys and knowing they were starting the day with a cooked breakfast inside them.
2. Doing several loads of washing and almost as much ironing.
3. Listening to the last few episodes of the Archers on iplayer whilst ironing after missing the omnibus at the weekend.
4. Cleaning DS1's bedroom and finding some really great drawings he'd done among all the trading cards, Lego and Top Gear posters. I've cleared his desk off so he can rediscover the joys of sitting at it to do things.
5. Cheap tea using up odds and ends from the fridge and a 20p bag of savoury rice.0 -
Hi all Well firstly thanks for your advice Olliebeak - lovely you !!!
Update on the situation below is my old employer have frozen the invoice for now and are looking into it as apparently there isn't much info in my personnel file - hmmmmm!!
DH has a mortgage advisor phoning him at home on Wednesday to discuss mortgage options so fingers crossed.jollymummy wrote: »Evening all
Welcome back Olliebeak . well blimey on my birthday on Thursday got a letter saying my mortgage is going up 70 quid per month as I previously mentioned. Yesterday I got a letter from my old employers saying I owed them 1400 pounds that they overpaid me 5 years ago !!! I will contest this strongly as they told me my job didn't exist so I didn't return after my career break, so waiting to hear from them, blimey what next !!! Will ask about where my redundancy payment went if this is the case and hope they go away.

Good evening  - think I'll be heading for early bed tonight - yawning already.
Patchwork - sounds like you had a great weekend and wd on going out of your way to make sure that they all got their. Hope your day of prayer goes well - is it for anything in particular?
Caterina - good grief girl , do you never sit still at all? Reading about all that activity of yours has left me feeling quite. Hope you and OH enjoy your ballroom dancing
.
GirlySquare - :T for posting that gingerbread cake recipe - it sounds delicious. Now copied and pasted into my Recipe Folder - think that would go well alongside the Lemon Drizzle Cake. Good to hear that you're back at work again.
nuttybabe - wtg for you dd - at least she 'had a go' at the rice - makes you really wonder about their 'mindset' over certain foods - wonder if it reminds her of 'maggots' - if she's ever seen them, that is. Last week my dgd1 (age 11!) wanted tuna/pasta/mayo but DD had no pasta in the cupboard. I suggested a tuna/mayo butty but she nearly had a canary fit and said she hated those! Now I ask you, if somebody likes tuna/pasta/mayo, what can they possibly object to about a tuna/mayo butty ????? Wd on your 'freebie' top after taking the jeans back.
ACEY - well done on your gardening/log chopping and hope you enjoy the school trip tomorrow.
Ladyhawk - sorry to hear that you'd had a bit of a 'down day' -for you. Wtg on spreading MSE among your work pals :T.
Tealady - Oh heck - hope you and Ladyhawk aren't starting a trend-
for you too. Wd on 'doing a Reverbe' - the 20p for the jar I mean
.
house elf - sorry to hear all your lesson prep was wasted - hope it'll come in handy at another time. How lovely of your boss to think of sending you a text like that.
Kitchenbunny - wd on starting your blog and good luck with it :T. Now don't you go start getting 'symptoms of something' as well as Ladyhawk and Tealady -for you too. Enjoy your book - I loved Victoria Wood's TV Drama.
bella - aaaarrgh - a sideways knitted cardigan band - you brave woman - I can never get the stitch number right on those. wtg on your card-making :j.
elizabunny - sounds like you and your OH had a great weekend and good to hear you got to see your lovely mum.
scotrae - wd on getting 'on top of the laundry/ironing' - great how people love to listen to something to make the ironing more bearable. I think I only iron twice a year - Christmas and the night before I go on holiday :rotfl:.
jollymummy - ooooooh things could be looking up a bit then- really hope so - and good luck with the Mortgage Advisor! I love Peter Kay too - his observations are fantastic. Enjoy your mum's visit
.
Mine for today:
1. Annoyed with myself over meal-planning this week. Meant to have Haggis tonight, but had roasted a chicken yesterday, so some of it just HAD to be used for tonight instead. Have to say that the resulting Chicken, Vegetable and Barley Broth was one of the best 'soups' that I've ever produced - OH really enjoyed it. Still got a full chicken breast and two thighs sitting in the fridge - so will have to find a way of using those up as well. PLUS 2x1kg tubs of the broth for the freezer.
2. My second annoyance is that 'somehow' a pack of BellyPork that was in the freezer has appeared in the fridge - not sure if it was ME or OH who put it there, but now it's defrosted it will HAVE to be used up .
3. Productive day in work with quite a few problems sorted out successfully AND a new tenant due to move in possibly next week. Leaves me with just one empty property at the moment.
4. I'm now going to have a hot choccie drink and catch up with Celebrity BB for 15mins and then off to bed.
Hope all who've been a bit under the weather feel a little better tomorrow. (((((Hugs))))) all round - take care - nitey nite - love Ollie xxx0 -
Hey all, hope you are all doing well. Monday was a bit of a shock after a fantastic weekend 'opp north' and a win for the mighty Fulham
Mine for today:
1 - a delicious dinner of a whoopsied rainbow trout fillet baked with potatoes, chopped peppers, cherry tomatoes and lemon. Another 3 fillets in the freezer
2 - a whoopsied small whole chicken in M&S - to be slow cooked tomorrow and then the left overs to be made in to pie and soup on Wednesday
3 - two packs of whoopsied crumpets in the freezer for breakfast with lashing og marmite - yum yum yum!
4 - sorting out recipes from all my weightwatcher magazines in to the recipe binder I got for christmas
5 - sticking to my WW points for the day, feel good and healthy and motivated.
Night all xxx:beer:0
