Hiya everyone
thanks all, i would be lost without my little projects on an evening now! Gonna have to start writing a list, so much to do and so little time to do it!
Anyway, mine for today
1 Another lie in! Was up really really late last night so it was nice that the kids slept in again
2 Going to my friends house and all our kids playing happily
3 Chocolate pie at friends house
4 Dd eating ALL of her tea. She even ate carrot, broccoli and peas!! :T
5 Got dh a thick jumper today reduced from £20 to £3 because it has a bit of wool hanging out the front. I am just about to fix that now!
Hope everyone has a good evening.0 -
Evening all,
Not been around. The PC has been struggling and so I've had an enforced PC ban. Am so behind with everything! Hope everyone is ok, hugs to those who need them. Just will hug myself a bit.
1. Seeing my friend yesterday and nattering ALL day. We cooked lunch together. It was a really great day.
2. The traffic being ok on the motorway, as if the big G was giving me a help home after a long day.
3. The smell of dinner (its very late) cooking as I type. Mmm.
4. Nice staff at a pet store today. Makes a pleasant change. Makes a lot of diffference.
5. Doing ok on the no buying any new toiletries challenge. Am finding it's helping not bring unnecessary stuff into the house. Ahh now that's better.
Look forward to hearing about everyone's pleasures.Declutter 300 things in December challenge, 9/300. Clear the living room. Re-organize storage
:cool2: Cherryprint: "More stuff = more stuff to tidy up!" Less things. Less stuff. More life.Fab thread: Long daily walks

Evening All,
Ollie - It was Kingston Upon Thames that I was talking about yesterday. When I moved south 19 years ago it was kingston I moved too. It was a live in job as there is no way we could afford to buy there. It's funny how chatting to people on here you realise what a small world it is!!
Mine for today
1. Lovely roast dinner of roast lamb. OH has been asking for this for a while, finally gave in to the expense of lamb as got some other cheap meals for rest of week.:money:
2. Picked DD's glasses up today. She got the ones she wanted and they were free thanks to the NHS:T. The choice is much better these days I remember my first pair of NHS specs:eek:
3. Bought some new wine glasses today in M&S 6for £6. I have been having a bit of a smashing time lately so was in desperate need of some.
4. Made big pan of HM carrot soup for lunch this week.
5. DD got a bargain in Boots, she bought something in the sale that wasn't complete so she argued that it should be cheaper than the 75% off price and got an extra 50p off. That's my girl.
An extra one for yesterday.
While shopping got asked to do a survey on crisps which only took a few minutes. Both DD and myself £6 vouchers in the post for another survey.
Hugs to all who need them.0 -
Evening All!
5 from today:
1. After a very sleepless night, not really dozing off til after 5, and DS1 insisting on waking me at 7.15am, I finally fell back to sleep and didn't wake til after 10am! I feel ashamed - but it felt SO good at the time!
2. Having 'brunch' with my menfolk - French stick with our farm shop's latest special - pork and bacon sausages. Yum! (OS even though it was farm shop sausage because it doubled as breakfast and lunch).
3. Of all the extravagant gifts my boys had from their friends yesterday they each spent a couple of hours with the 'sensibly priced' drawing book and crayons that I suggested to one family.
4. Trying on the outfits an old school friend had loaned to me in front of my neighbour and DH and discovering that I have three decent options which will cost me no money for next month's do. Neighbour and I went in to the last day of the Blue Cross sales anyhow - and she bought a dress for the same posh do next month. About £150 to under £50 and it looks fabulous on her!
5. No roast today, just DH's chilli and HM potato wedges. We'll be economising again now to make up for yesterday's party costs.
Here's to a good week for all.

I'm annoyed and disappointed this evening. My solicitor phoned (on a Sunday night!) to say she had had a fax from the ex's solicitor. He has promised (again) to abide by his court order and wants contact to start again in the week. He will take me to court if I refuse. So my solicitor says she recommends it starts again tomorrow. It just gets me cross that he can break a court order right, left and centre and nothing ever happens to him!
Anyway, shall try to think of 5 for today:
1) Was standing out in the garden at dusk pondering over the new fence the neighbours have put up. Its still a bit high but, with all the trees they've cleared, you can see for miles. Other neighbour (from the other side) popped out and we stood there and reckoned we could see 25 miles in one direction (view of the Malverns) and the "new" direction (previously blocked by leylandii!) we think we could see past Hereford so getting on for 40 miles! There is a real outcrop to the south and a radio mast that we could see the lights of and we need to work out where we are looking.
2) My friend from school came for tea and it was nice to have a chat and the boys love having her round.
3) Boys finished their homework. There was a lot set this week including making a Tudor house....
4) Bigger son and I have been using his friendship bracelet kit that came in his Christmas stocking. Its very complicated but we've nearly finished one each (has a wheel thing to put the threads through).
5) Going to have a bath now, go to bed and listen to the omnibus edition of the Archers.

Evening everybody - didn't realise how late it was getting.
Ladyhawk - thanks for confirming what I thought about that list of ingredients. Makes you wonder how qualified some of these DomSc/HomeEc teachers are when they produce recipes like that one. Bad results will only put the pupils off cooking for good. Hope your decluttering was successful :j. Good Luck with you skiing holiday - trips with friends can be so stressful. I've never done it since going away with a schoolfriend at the age of 13 - by the end of the week we weren't even talking
.
Reverbe - woooooo you're doing well there - wtg hun :T.
Bobbykins - thanks for the reminder about Kiwi's move to the smallholding - that's probably what's keeping her away from the PC at the moment. wd on your pink streaks - you and Caterina (with her pink fringe) will be able to audition for 'Grease - The Musical' as The Pink Ladies.
Budgeteer - Thanks for you comment- exactly the amount I thought of - maybe 1 or even 2tsps but definitely NOT 6
. Good Luck with knitting the bunny for your m-i-l
.
house elf - sounds like you and the family had a great time watching your DDyesterday. Good Luck with your work prep
.
GirlySquare - wd on your Boots bargains and great idea about the film boxes as dosset boxes :T.
nuttybabe - your dd certainly seems to have turned a corner over her eating these days :j. Great bargain jumper there for your OH too :T.
mineallmine - sorry to hear you've been having probs with your- know the feeling well . Going to have to join you on the 'buying no toiletries challenge' - can't believe how many things I've found lying around the bedroom while decluttering today
.
Tealady - It's definitely a small world - I've sent you a pm. Wd on your surveys :j and wtg to your DD on standing her ground in Boots :T.
scotrae - you definitely needed that extra sleep-in after your- and your brunch sounds . Hope you enjoy your 'posh do' next month
.
ACEY - so sorry to hear that your ex has started being a pain in the asre again  - some specialfor you. Great news about your improved garden views
.
Mine for today:
1. Had a great decluttering session in the bedroom today - found a new pair of slippers at the bottom of the wardrobe that I'd forgotten about. Can't believe how many toiletries I've bought, gathered, collected, been given and how they've mounted up - lots of it is stuff that I don't even use (three bottles of Body Lotion for Dry/Sensitive Skin), 4 new Body Scrubbies (already four in the bathroom and only 2 of us live here!), yet another Ped-Egg, loads of hand-creams. Difficult to know who to pass it on to, as I can't even remember who bought it for me
.
2. All the clean laundry dried and hung up again.
3. All Christmas boxes and tree are now back up in the loft again - got so fed up of falling over them :j.
4. Managed a quick trip to Asda this afternoon and only bought whoopsies and two rollbacks (multi-coloured plastic plates/bowls - 2 for £2 - bought the cutlery last week - will be great for the grandkids in the garden in the summer). Turkey Breast Roasting Joint for £1.07 had been £3.45; Stilton Cheese reduced to 70p from £2; Bananas for 38p; Grapes for 10p; 2 whoopsied loaves, 2pks of muffins, 2pks of pancakes, pack of crumpets, pack of multi-seeded ciabattas. And a lovely toddler book (including a reward chart) about potty training for £1 for Caitlin (dgd2)
.
5. Back home to cook Roast Chicken Dinner - with stuffing, roasties, mash, honey-roast parsnips, carrots, broccoli and gravy. OH promptly fell asleep immediately afterwards :rotfl:.
6. Dancing on Ice - just love the show. Feel so sorry for everybody who has to get voted off each week - it's not as easy as the professionals make it look - I speak from past experience.
That's me done for this evening - and definitely need my bed now - lovely clean sheets to snuggle down into - mmmmmmmmmmmm.
Nitey nite all and sleep tight. Hope we all have a great os money-saving week ahead - love Ollie xxx0 -
Good evening, or should I say, morning ..
Thank you for the info re Kiwi, I had a feeling it was what you said but was even less sure than I was about ampersand so thanks for confirming
Re school domestic science teachers (as we called them back in dinosaur days), 20+ years ago DD was told to take a pastry case and packet of Greens lemon meringue mix, which she had to buy from Mr S. They were told to follow the pack instructions but DD being the scatterbrain that she was, bless her, put both packs in the bowl and mixed them together before putting in the pastry case. It was once of the nicest lemon meringues I've had, if a little 'different' :rotfl:. Pleased to say she's now an excellent cook and like me likes to make her family's meals from scratch.
My 5...
1. A good trip to Oxon and back when visiting DM, rain all the way home but most drivers on the M25 were behaving reasonably well
2. Had a delish lunch, lamb shanks and all the roasty bits etc. It was so tender it hardly needed cutting and as DM has a tiny appetite they were happy to give her a childs portion. Some places are reluctant, but a full plate takes her appetite away so we'll be going there again :T
3. DM and I could at last exchange Chrissie presents (the bad weather has stopped us til now), she gave me a very generous amount towards the new garden shed. With Mothering Sunday coming up in a couple of months I should just about have enough to buy it (I know DS reads my posts from time to time, so hint hint)
4. Got back just in time to see Wild and Heart and the Dancing on Ice skate off
5. The greeting I got from the furpets was worth going out for the day for...of course it was only because it was past their dinner time when I got back, but still worth all the wags, purrs and having them all try to get on my lap - rather like a :grouphug: really!
Night night and God bless, stay safe

Morning everyone, hope you all had a great os weekend, my 5 os pleasures for today.
1. Feeling refreshed after a very very lazy weekend. Read pages and pages on here, and have picked up some new recipes, can't wait to try them out.:j
2. Baby sitting friends children today, so lots of os fun to be had there. Plan to play card games, teach the girls how to kint again, and hm fish fingers and chips for tea.:money:
3. Changing my bed this morning, looking forward to getting into it tonight. Love that fresh bed feeling.:D
4. Made an old no bake traybake recipe of my Gran's, being inspired by Hairy Bikers i got out her old book. The one that i got the baby jacket pattern from that i've been knitting for 3 months.
It's called peanut crunch, you make it in a swiss roll tin.
3oz butter
1oz sugar
3tablespoon syrup
3/4 of a jar of peanut butter
Melt together the above and add 1lb of biscuit crumb. Press into tin and cover with melted choc. Cut into 24 squares or 48 triangles.
Very morish.:)
5. My son asking if we could start and have a pudding after our tea a few nights during the week. Haven't made puddings except on Sundays for a very long time. :AAny ideas or family favs. you make would be greatly appreciated. After crumble and tart i'm stuck.:A
Have a great os day everyone, hugs to all who need them. Love BTx0 -
Yesterday's simple pleasures:-
1. My vacuum packed special offer £5.33 for a whole shoulder of lamb from Mr. S was delish.
2. Lamb served 3 of us amply yesterday.
3. Put up a generous portion of lamb for DS to take home.
4. Enough lamb left over to make two more 'simple' dinners for DH and me.
5. Just being happy that I can find pleasure in such small things, and happy too that I can share them with like minded people. My friends think I'm barking mad.
Bella.A man's life consisteth not in the abundance of things which he possesseth. Luke 12 v 150 -
Hi all, here's mine:
1. Making bubble and squeak cakes using my burger press (mostly for portion control) and ending up with 12 cakes, most of which will be frozen but some are for tonight - a quick easy tea with mackerel.
2. Remembering to keep enough pasta from yesterday lunch (before I added the sauce) to be my lunch today - mixed it with red pesto, green olives and tuna.
3. Finding some teacakes in the freezer and having toasted teacakes whilst watching Larkrise (my one weakness).
4. Shuffling the freezer contents and finding out there's quite a bit of space after all (big shop coming tomorrow so will be lots of meat to go in the freezer).
5. OH being busy this week with unpaid jobs (better that than sitting around getting disheartened).
6. Some art pastels I put on ebay selling for £12!!! I never used them and they were a very expensive, foolish, never used, impulse buy but I won't argue with a bit more money this month
Bunny too - how about pineapple upside down cake, cherry sponge (tinned cherries, sponge on top), spotted !!!!!!, lemon meringue pie, apple pie, chocolate chip cake (I serve ours still warm in ramekins as we eat less that way), rice pudding, bread and butter pudding, treacle tart? Just a couple of ideas - not that I have a sweet tooth or anything :rotfl:working on clearing the clutterDo I want the stuff or the space?0
