    I've been Money Tipped!
    1) Free entry into the Imperial War Museum! Was flabbergasted at the size of the small lifeboat in the Merchant navy section there! My Dad survived 33 hours in one after his ship was sunk! I'm very proud of all he and his mates did so that Britain didn't starve! Also saw the 1940's house. So glad I went but I did then go and spend £12.99 on a book!

    2) Old Style meet up! Great fun and wonderful to now put faces to names!

    3) Cuddles from our pooch on our return! Never need a hot water bottle here!:D

    4) Eating choc from Approved food while reading my new book - 120 little bars of dark choc with raspberry for £1.99 :T No didn't eat all of them!:o

    5) Cottage pie for dinner with cheesy topping! Yum!
Our days are happier when we give people a bit of our heart rather than a piece of our mind.

Evening  - not too bad at all here this evening. Just been outside to put some rubbish/recycling in the bins and it was 'almost pleasant'.

Kitchenbunny - hope you managed to get on with your good intentions today - mine went right out the window :(. My OH took dgs2 to see Avatar 3D a couple of weeks ago and they were both amazed by it too. Wd on your pressie bargains :j.
GirlySquare - hope you and your dd enjoyed the playdates with her friends .
sparrer - I'm just worried that my lot will turn into Harry Enfield's 'Wobbly Randy Old Ladies' and make a grab for them :rotfl:.
newlywed - Do you have a union in work? If so, will they be involved in preparing your redundancy package? Not sure how it works these days, but when I was made redundant (many years ago) we were advised NOT to hand in our notices until after we'd been given a redundancy date as we would have been deemed to be leaving of our own accord instead of redundancy - double check it to make sure though as that may have changed now. Hope it all works out and that you find something quickly. Wd on your Healthcare cheque arriving - something good HAD to happen for you :T.
Ladyhawk - Good to hear that Toupe is ok - maybe he'll learn his lesson one day ;). wtg on the decluttering especially the pics of your ex ;).
Hardup Hester - your afternoon with your DD and dgs sounds lovely - I'm really missing mine since she moved a few miles away from me :(.
ACEY - wd on having your hair done for such a bargain price :T and glad you enjoyed Joseph - one of my favourite musicals . Good to hear that your ex is keeping his head down and his mouth shut at the moment :j.
bella - :T for the welcome back - I've bought seeds from Wilkies and Asda in the past and never been disappointed with either lot - good prices too :). wtg on the bargain lamb shoulders - it's usually an outrageous price and I rarely buy it either.
nuttybabe - wd on your sock lovebug (any pics?) and also on your £2 refund in Asda - better in your pocket than theirs ;).
Tealady - wd on your bargain lunch in Kingston with your DD :j. Is that Kingston-on-Thames? I used to live in Surbiton and was married at K-o-T Registry Office (1972). Aren't Dad's funny on the phone - always think calls are for somebody else and difficult to make them just chat ;).
jollymummy - lol at your mum's comment - so true :o. Flipping heck, those employers have got some brass necks! £1400 from 5yrs ago is some nerve - but I think I'd go and ask for some advice on the subject. Sounds like they've got financial problems and have given somebody the job of chasing up all outstanding sums of money that they can identify -what're they called these days - Income Maximisation Teams. Sounds like you all had a lovely day in York - I've taken groups of my pensioners there for days out, but it was just a little bit too far for some of them on the coach - ladies on 'water tablets' don't travel very well ;).
scotrae - wtg on your boys party being such a roaring success and wd on the :bdaycake:.
catznine - wd on managing to get to the OS London Meet today and on your visit to the museum. Not been to London for about 15yrs - but I guess it doesn't change all that much, just gets busier/noisier ;). Would love to be able to meet everybody, but way too far from up here.
Mr Lahey - sorry if you've hurt your shoulders, but maybe the Stella helped to deaden the pain ;). Good to be able to appreciate our kids - especially once they've gone to bed .

    Mine for today:

    1. Well, I had such good intentions this morning, but didn't get around to sorting the bedroom after all. DID clear out an awkward corner cupboard that involved OH on his hands and knees and crawling almost inside to reach the very back. Decided to stash my glass bowls/dishes, serving platters and party catering things right at the back on both shelves. Found four unopened bags of pasta (three already open in general food cupboard :o), five boxes of tea-bags and four bags of ground coffee. The bottom cupboard has now become my main stock cupboard while the top one is stuff in current use - so I don't have to bend down all the time ;).

    2. HM soup for lunch - OH had Pea/Ham and I had Leek/Potato with some mini bread torpedos.

    3. Three loads of washing done and dried on airers/rad rails - including my favourite black hoodie.

    4. Made a curry with diced turkey, last few bits of sliced peppers in the bag, some mushrooms that were just about useable and a jar of SmartPrice Curry Sauce served with some of the pasta hoard. OH declared it to be delicious.

    5. Have taken a chicken out of the freezer (whoopsied from £3.95 to £1.90) - so a yummy roast dinner tomorrow.

    6. Phone call to Yankee Cousin this afternoon. I found her apartment on Google Map - the one where you can look at buildings/streets properly. She hasn't been on a comp for years and hadn't got a clue what I meant when I started asking her which windows were hers. I could see her plants on the window ledge and could almost swear that I could see a figure in the room - felt very strange indeed.

    7. Enjoying Celebrity Big Brother at the moment :j.

That's me done for this evening. Hope everybody is well and has a good night's sleep. Take care all and speak again in the morning - nitey nite - love Ollie xxx

Has anyone heard anything of Kiwi? I have a vague idea that ampersand went to France for a while, but don't quote me. Will be good to see them back
A very brief one as I've really nothing to report from my day but will think of a few..

    1. A lie in til 9am, followed by a lovely long hot shower

    2. Cut my hair as it's got to the 'just over the collar' length. I had it cut from shoulder length to ear length at college too ACEY, back in November, and so pleased I did but golly doesn't it grow quickly when it's short? It cost me £7 but still amazingly cheap.I have no worries about cutting it myself now the basic shape is there, I can't remember when I last went to a salon. I'm certainly not paying that sort on money!

    3. Discovered that when I'm making my bread in the bm using olive oil rather than butter it keeps fresh a day or two longer...saves having too many ends of loaves in the freezer. I'd better use them up or it's going to be one heck of a big b and b pudding!

    4. Casualty and Jeff Dunham on television

    5. Settling down in bed with a cuppa, a pear and the laptop. It was meant to be an early night as I've got the drive to visit DM in the morning but got sidetracked by silly computer games.

    6. another nsd as I didn't bother to go to the farm shop - I have to go that way on Monday so will kill 2 birds with one stone

Night night all, sleep tight and take care

Hi, everyone, hope you're all having a good weekend!

    My 5 for yesterday:

    1. Delicious curry at a local restaurant with 3 of my old schoolfriends, one of whom came down from London.

    2. Walking into town, which is about a 3-4 mile round trip, thereby getting some free exercise.

    3. Cheap lunch in the market in town.

    4. Making a big pot of homemade yoghurt.

    5. Picking up my new camera - OK, not very moneysaving, but it was paid for out of my insurance claim, and it will be much better than my old one.

Enjoy the rest of your day, everyone x
Life is not a dress rehearsal.
  • Here are my five pleasures for the day:

    1) Getting all the net curtains washed and re-hanged, I've even put a reminder in my calendar to remind me to do them again in 3 months!

    2) Making a huge lasagne for tea last night, and still having 4 yummy portions to freeze today.

    3) From that, there was a potful of leftover sauce to make tea on Monday night - gammon pasta bake!

    4) Having sent my Mum a recipe from Easy Cook (Low Fat Chicken Korma) and she loved it. :) I'm going to cook it later this week.

    5) Recommending my Dad has a look at MSE. Hope he managed to find a bargain or two. :)

Ugh, I've woken up with a headache this morning. I know it'll go and I'll go get some breakfast in a minute - homemade flapjack - and that should sort it. I need to pick up my sewing as I haven't done that in a while and it's a present for Mum, so I must get going. That sock love-bug is gorgeous! I love it!

Hope everyone has a good day.

    Kitchenbunny xx

    Hi everyone. Mine for yesterday:
    1) tea and porridge with honey in bed
    2) & 3) playdates all day yesterday, I'll have to wake dd soon as she is still in bed!
    4) dp brought pizza and garlic bread from Sainsbury's for late tea as dd and I got back home after her bedtime, guilty pleasure
    5) finding Asda Opticians only £50 for Complete glasses thread, should save me a fortune this year as my last pair two years ago cost £300 from D&A including a 25% discount!
