    Happy Friday! :j

JollyMummy Happy Birthday! Hope you have had a nice day out.

Newlywed Fingers crossed the company keeps paying you. Been through it a few years ago when both me and OH worked for same company. We ended up taking the boss to tribual. but got pence in the pound owed to us when the administators had taken their fees etc. Unfortunately the only people that won in our case were the lawyers:mad::mad:

Anyway, 5 OS pleasures for today.

    1. Took DD to early morning swimming. The mummies wait near the coffee machine. When the doors opened to the public, a vagrant shuffled in, got himelf a coffee from the machine and installed himself and his bags at one of the tables. (A bit wiffy!). When he shuffled off to the toilet, the Manager called him over. I thought he was going to throw him out, but the lovely manager suggested he have a shower, and directed him to the showers saying anything he needed, to let him know, and he would try to help him out. What a nice kind man.:A It restores your faith in humanity.

    2. Breakfast with DD at McDonalds. Had too much syrup on my porridge. Lovely:)

    3. Successful first lesson with my class. We are starting an enterprise project to design a monopoly game for our school. Everyone was very enthusiastic about it and joined in with ideas and suggestions.:T

    4. DS2 has another head teacher reward sticker for good work.

    5. Sausage, mash and onion gravy for tea, with a glass of wine.

    Happy Friday Night Everyone:A

Apologies for not clicking the thanks button right through the thread lately. Not spending so much time on here and having to scan through if I get round to reading at all. I do appreciate each and every lovely, thankful post though.:)

    1. Having no tooth pain whatsoever! :j
    2. Washing and drying lots of socks and restocking everyone's undies drawers.

    3. Having a really tasty salad wrap from fridge-end-things for lunch.

    4. Going to the supermarket with my boys after school - usually a recipe for disaster but I was shopping for some things for their party and they were really, really helpful and happy.

    5. Getting £62.66 worth of shopping for only £41.25 by the time I'd used my vouchers and got the multibuy savings on the things I needed (happy coincidence). It was the first time I'd tried to use another store's voucher - one of the M&S save £5 when you spend over £25. Brill!:j

A busy day ahead getting the rest of the things ready for the boys' birthday party now. I can't think who's more excited now - them or me!

Evening all  - right miserable, damp day here but managed to keep the heating off until time to close the curtains - 4.30 today.

Reverbe - I just think myself so lucky not to have to be involved with 'dating' now - the 'big wide world' looks to be a place that I would rather not go nowadays. 'In my day' (mid60's - early70's) I loved being single, able to go where I wanted/when I wanted/with whoever I wanted and met lots of great people - it's just that everything appears so geared towards 'the young' now :(.
newlywed - sorry to hear that you've got redundancy hanging over you after all that time off work. Hope something comes along quickly for you. :j on having money left at the end of the month instead of 'some month left at the end of the money' ;).
nuttybabe - wd on organising your cupboards and keeping up with your ironing (my most hated job ). My cupboards are in a right state after Christmas/New Year - definitely need a good sort out - don't want stuff going past it's 'use by date'.
Ladyhawk - looks like Toupe has recovered from his recent problems enough to go looking for some more - typical cat.gif taking advantage of your absence to relax on your bed ;). wd on your amazon sale :T.
house elf - what a lovely leisure centre manager to help that guy out like that :T - the chance of a hot shower and hot drink must be a blessing at this time of year for anybody living rough. wd on your first class lesson and also to your ds2 for his reward sticker.
scotrae - wd to your boys for being helpful in the supermarket and good luck with the celebrate2.gif tomorrow.

    Mine for today:

    1. Unexpected visit from DS2 on the scrounge for a spade/shovel. We don't have one but he stayed for a coffee and natter. Really good as he was on his own and so was I - lovely for us to have the opportunity for 'mummy and Mikey time' ;).

    2. New tenant moved in today, so had the chance to visit for a chat and the usual form-filling bits. Was able to assist him to sign-up for gas/electric/water services and think I've come away with lots of Brownie Points :j.

    3. Another tenant, and his wife, were very grateful to my boss-lady for going out of her way to arrange extra assistance during some floor-retiling work that needed doing. She was delighted when I passed on their thanks to her .

    4. DD feeling a little better today - not quite as much pain from her tooth/teeth extraction(s) now and the kids have gone to their dads for the weekend - so she can have some real peace for a couple of days.

    5. Freebie in the post this morning - a sample of Kenco Brazilian Blend coffee and a 50p coupon :j.

    6. Letter from the Pensions Service announcing that I can claim my State Pension from July 2012 - ooooooooooh. Our 'over-55's' Staff Working Group in work is having a visit from a Pensions Advisor next month, so should get some useful advice about whether or not it's best to take it when offered, or to leave it until actual retirement in an effort to build-up a larger sum of money.

That's me done for now - think I'll get off to beddy-byes. I've made myself a promise to have a proper sort-out of the bedroom tomorrow and my office on Sunday.

Hope everybody gets a good night's sleep and has a great weekend - love Ollie xxx

Ladyhawk I am sorry to hear about Toupe, hope the little furbabe's dignity will soon be restored
Reverbe I'm fussy, only been out to dinner a handful of times in the past year. I always insist on going dutch for the first date then I can leave with a clear conscience if I have to ;). The nice ones are there, they just don't wear labels so takes a while to sort out the wheat from the chaff
Ollie I'm sure your residents love all the coming and going, when we had a refurb the ladies were always there with offers of tea and advice .. They soon get to know the workmen for their hair, tattoos, mannerisms etc, any or all of which may initially cause some tuts and shaking of heads, but they talk about them as if they've known them for years, ha ha

    My five...

    1. Another nsd as I didn't venture further than the back garden

    2. Started to pot up some seedlings but ran out of compost, it looks like tomorrow will not be a nsd because once I get to that farm shop my purse starts to tremble :D

    3. Did 2 loads of laundry and got it all dry on the radiators and airer.

    4. Decided that about 1/2 inch is just a bit too wide for a grey parting so had a girly evening with hair colour, face mask and pedicure - a top and toe, perhaps ;)

    5. Pop star to opera star on television :)

Big ((((hugs)))) to everyone, night night n God bless

Gosh where are all you ladies finding these dates and potentials? Before I gave up for life I was on a dating site for about 7 years and in all that time didnt find a single person who warranted going as far as a date. Most were married, and all of them lied in some way usually re pics.(looks, height, weight, age etc) My tip for all those using online dating is to see the person on a webcam or at the very least one of those photos with a date stamp..

So many tales I could tell including the man who was a different colour than the pic he sent - did he think I wouldnt tell??

I did learn the lesson that most men lie tho...

Bunny that might be an idea thanks...

Ooh that did make me laugh - ref the man who was a different colour...what was he thinking?!!

And I've definitely been lied to ref age. I have a clean conscience because there are no lies on my online profile. What on earth is the point?!! You'll only get found out sooner or later if you lie!

Anyway, my fussiness when it comes to men is legendary amongst my friends - I know exactly what I'm looking for, and so far he's not put in an appearance in my life. Fortunately I am very happy being single so I am not pining away in the meantime.

    My 5 for yesterday:

    1. Short day at work - always good. January is our busiest time of the year, but hasn't been too bad so far this year. And I enjoy working with the colleagues who are on my floor.

    2. Reading more great online fiction. I'm completely hooked on the story I'm following and there's a new chapter each day to enjoy.

    3. Watching the Wesley Snipes film "The Contractor" which was better than I thought it would be.

    4. Finding a new route to work which is more interesting and which seems to be having a beneficial effect on my petrol gauge - I'm using far less these days. Very money saving!

    5. Delicious (and well heaped) plate of savoury rice for tea, using up lots of stuff that needed to be used up.

Right, must go and walk into town (good exercise) and collect my camera, treat myself to lunch whilst there (not so money saving, but fun), then back here. May log on later and reply to some messages from the dating website...:D
Life is not a dress rehearsal.

Hi sparrer - this lot of workmen are a great bunch. The younger ones have started wolf-whistling after the much older ladies, who are now wiggling their bums 'a la Marilyn Monroe' back at them.
  • Ah, the weekend. Wonderful so I can have a bit of a rest again. Going to tackle a bit more decorating today - painting the doorframe and window ledge, and washing the net curtains. My book still hasn't arrived :( Something fell on the doormat this morning and woke us, but it wasn't my copy of Nella Last's War. I shall definitely buy Nella Last's Peace, too.

Here are my 5 OS pleasures for yesterday/today:

    1) Having a conversation with my Mum and discovering she would really love to read that book after me. I really felt like we connected.
    2) Going for an old-fashioned evening out at the cinema. (OK, so we went to see Avatar in 3D at one of the biggest screens in the country, but it was a really nice treat!)
    3) The popcorn being so cheap at £2 for a medium sized tub, and DH and I agreeing that my HM stuff is much better.
    4) Going into Boots and buying a couple more Christmas presents with 75% off. :money:
    5) Sorting out the floor of my wardrobe. I can now distinguish between boots, shoes, sandals and rubbish, and have divined a big pile of stuff to go to the charity shops when I can get a lift there.

    Have a lovely day, everyone.

    Kitchenbunny xx
Trying for daily wins, and a little security in an insecure world.
  • Sorry to hear of possible redundancy newlywed, there is a great mse redundancy board on here. The advice on there really helped me stay positive last year when redundancies were happening at my company.

Mine for yesterday, short and sweet:

    1) tea and toast in bed
    2) got loads of stuff sorted for work, finally feeling near normal again
    3) arranged two playdates for dd happening today, my first chance to chat with mummie friends since before Christmas
    4) dp's roast chicken dinner
    5) QI
