5 OS Pleasures in your Day Today part 2

  • Have been struggling with an OU essay and getting a headache. Then I thought 'Well done me for getting a very loose essay plan. At least I know the main points - I'll put it away now until tomorrow'
In fact, I'm nearly four weeks ahead of schedule so I'm sure I can do a bit every day and take my time.
So now, my OS pleasures for the day are:
    1. Realising how well I've done in getting ahead with my course and how I was sensible enough to know when to put away for another day.
    2. Used some paper cases left over from a tin of Christmas butter cookies to line muffin tins. Made 12 delicious cherry and raisin muffing for the next few days. I split and buttered one to sample:D and they've turned out nice:j
3.Have a shopping list hidden at the side of my fridge where I've been adding items as I go. Beside each item, I've put an estimated price. (which is not something I've done before) It is a good feeling to have a clue about what the grocery will cost.
    4. Hubby has just offered to do a little tutorial with me regarding essay plans. He is quite an expert in the subject I am studying and a good teacher. I realise what a lucky bunny I am to be married to such a wonderful man.
5.Also realised how lucky I am to have you lot to share my OS living with. I so look forward to reading your posts.

I'm still off work, but hoping to go back tomorrow. It's going to be nice to do something!

    1) Getting my mealplan in order for the week ahead, and getting the shopping list done too.
    2) My cold being on the way out! Yay!
    3) A book I've ordered (Nella Last's War) has been shipped :)
    4) Getting a new recipe idea from my Mum - Sty Pie - minced pork with veg, topped with mash :)
    5) Feeling a little more organised.

I'm a little worried about DH, bless him. :( I had some bad news last night so I'm not the happiest in the world today. Here's hoping it all picks up a bit.

    Hi all

Kitchenbunny, make sure you also get Nella Last's Peace, they are great books!

Here are my pleasures for today:

1 - Managed to get up early and give DS a good breakfast on his return from his paper rounds, as he needed to go to college early today. He was grateful and I am delighted I could do something for him.

2 - Early visit to the PO Box for work before keep fit class, 1 hour work clocked up first thing in the morning!

3 - DD and I did our usual Thursday keep fit class and managed all the way through!

4 - Complimentary nutritional consultation in an organic shop - I shall actually go for the full paid one but might manage to get at least part of it refunded by my healthcare plan.

5 - Back home for lunch, DD had cooked for me, sweetheart!

6 - Had a long meeting with my new boss at my home office and showed her how I do the statistics on the database. We also had a long conversation about my post. I feel much more positive now and I am not leaving the job just yet, really willing to give it another chance now.

Hope you all have a great evening xxx
Finally I'm an OAP and can travel free (in London at least!).
  • 1) tea and toast in bed from dp
    2) big cuddle from dd when she arrived home from school
    3) listening to dp and dd tidying dd's bedroom together
    4) Alex Mackay's ragu and spaghetti for tea, it takes ages to make but dp cooks in bulk for the freezer and defrosts portions when needed
    5) playing bowling on the Wii with dp and dd and winning!
"We have to be kind because everyone is fighting a great, great battle" - Sir Richard Attenborough
"There is a special place in hell for women who don't help other women" - Madeleine Albright

I love that book! I read it on holiday a couple of summers ago :D

    Only a few for today...

    1) Made some scones, was supposed to be a big batch so I could freeze some and only ended up making about 8!

    2) Having a lovely night in with some hot choc and a good book
    Proud to be OS :j

    Yay Ollie's back!

Todays Five looking on the bright side!

    1. Driving to work being dazzled by the sun.

    2. Talking to DH about the possibility of going on holiday.

    3. A clean living room floor. DS1 and DH tidied the toy box and I cleaned the floor. Think I need to start joining in the Flylady thread!

    4. Curry made by sixth form and naan bread from the Kurdish shop at the bottom of the road. Yum! Extra feelgood factor knowing that the proceeds of the sale are going to Haiti Earthquake Charity.

    5. Earlyish night as DD has early swim tomorrow. Book and bed beckons!

    Night X

    My five for today:

    1. The power going off at work (somebody cut through a cable!!) so apart from doing some filing, there was nothing that I could do (my work is very PC based). So got time to chat to my lovely colleague! A naughty pleasure, I know, but still...

    2. Chatting online to a potential date. We shall see...I'm so very fussy when it comes to men though!

    3. Yay! Ollie is back!! So good to hear your connection problems are sorted.

    4. Phone call to tell me my replacement camera is now in stock (old one got stolen in a burglary).

    5. A generally chilled out and relaxing evening. Off for an early night now.

Hugs to those that need them xxx

    HI all
thanks for the 40th birthday wishes !!!
    1. Well I'm 40 today and still here - with a bad back but at least that's it !!
    2. Received a lot of lovely cards and cash to buy my sewing machine with.
    3. DH and DS made me a lovely cake - phew we're stuffed
    4. My brilliant sister turned up out of the blue last night, with a bouquet, wine, a cake and a magic fairy bubble wand !!
    5. Had a panic as we have a Skipton mortgage that is set to go up by 70 pounds per month, DH said he'll sort something out - hope so as otherwise our very tight budget is shot.
    6. DH got day off work tomorrow so we can sneak off somewhere to celebrate my birthday while DS is at school - we've NEVER done this !!
    7. It's nearly the weekend - woohoo !!
    8. Nearly forgot this but neighbours and Mums at school couldn't believe I'm 40 - no they didn't think I was older, but much younger :) My MIL and SIL thought I was 38 !!!! It's clean living you know - lol
