Well, I've had an few days of up and downs. The annoying people who own next door moved out for 5 years and rented the house out (always to nice people) but they are moving back :-( Actually, only the daughter is moving back now she is grown up, with her own 2 youngsters. Surely she can't be as strident, bossy and loud as her mother? Surely... Unfortunately, when she came to tell me she is moving in, she also told me my 3 foot fence is going to go (fantastic views from here) and she is replacing it with 6 foot 6 fence. How lovely.

Anyway, some over the last few days!

    1) Had my school friend round for tea on Sunday and had a good chat.

    2) Saw off the ex on Monday morning! He is no longer allowed to take them to school after his silly conduct a couple of weeks ago but decided he would turn up anyway and block my car in. I got all my courage up and said he wasn't taking them to school anymore and I was "sure his solicitor had already told him this" and if he wasn't sure he should "pop home and give her a ring". Well, he revved the car half to death, did a few handbrake turns (!), wheelspinning etc but then he left!

    3) Went to Ludlow yesterday and did the 2nd hand shops. Nothing for me but got bigger son a Next jumper and little son some Gap jeans and a furry lined denim jacket.

    4) Got sons new school shoes today. (Definitely not a NSD).

    5) Helped out at school today and was asked if I'll be on the staff team in the next PTA quiz.

    6) Got college tomorrow, first time since December - due to snow! Looking forward to that although another 4 inches have been forecast.

    7) Also looking forward to going to Malvern on Friday to watch Joseph. Little son went with school last year and is completely obsessed. We've had all the songs playing on YouTube.

    Hi All,

    5 for Tuesday

    1. Fun day at work. Can't really give one particular reason. Other than kids seemed generally in a good mood, and 'no chairs were thrown' sort of day:D

    2. DS2 had some good results in his GCSE maths and science modules.

    3. DS1 had a sticker for good work at school.

    4. Starting to get somewhere with organising and de-cluttering my classroom. Wish I could say the same about home:eek:

    5. Voucher shopping in M&S and Sainsburys this evening, hoping to keep weeks shopping bill in double figures this week:rolleyes::money:

Positive vibes going out to all.........

Acey - have I said before that we took our boys to see Joseph at Malvern when they were five? We had the CD on pretty much non-stop for six months in the car and they used to sing the Potiphah and Elvis songs ad infinitum. (That brings back memories of a very long drive to a holiday somewhere!)

    Five for today:

    1. DS2 being in such good spirits when I dropped him at school this morning that he allowed me to give him a kiss goodbye without even flinching!

    2. Getting my boys to school through the traffic and getting home by 8.35am - a record. I'm not sure how this happened!

    3. Buying my icing bag set at long last. I had tried for one on ebay but got outbid at the last minute but still managed to get this with the very last Christmas pounds.

    4. Mum was sounding much better on the phone. Dad's apparently got the NORO virus now but seems through the worst and Mum's due to see her GP tomorrow.

    5. Making a fruity curry sauce rather than buying a new one for tonight's chicken. This was particularly OS because I needed to use a pack of pre-Christmas poppadums, out of date sultanas, dessicated coconut and ground almonds ... and it tasted amazing! (Also there was so much fruit that I only used one chicken breast between DH and I.)

I'm off to run myself a bath now before DH decides to have one ;)

Just got home... another late night for me which is certainly not good. Last night I didn't get to sleep until 1.30 because I have realised that I could probably pay my mortgage off in 5 years!! I am so excited about this challenge and in honour of it I managed to avoid going shopping this afternoon at Kew (ie expensive even when they have a sale on!).

    1) the mortgage - I am under no illusions that it will be easy but I know I can do it and still have my treats. I have have to make sensible cuts to my spending.

    2) Got an extra 20 mins sleep as I only had to be in London for 10am.

    3) Got a seat on the train. Finally First Capital Connect train drivers have decided to stop disrupting all their passengers lives by working to rule

    4) I am late home because I went to a very interesting lecture this evening on how we are going to manage to feed a global population of 9 billion. The speaker was superb and though I had heard a lot of what he had to say before he made it so engaging.

    5) Yummy dinner and glass of wine provided afterwards with the opportunity to network with some really important people in my industry. I often feel like I am a silly little girl at these things and that I have no value to add to any conversation - but I seemed to really make sense to myself tonight which is reassuring.

    Sleep well all!

    L

PS my sneaky 6th - I have not felt this happy and positive for such a long time :) It makes a welcome change from the doldrums I was in for no apparent reason last year.

Just popping in to say thank you for all your very bright and positive posts, not much sunshine here today as we had to take DD's beautiful old boy,a GSD x, to the vet this morning after a suspected stroke, and very sadly he didn't come home . He was rescued many years ago from travellers site, but settled in to DD's home as though he'd always been there. He didn't have an unpleasant bone in his body, so was useless at being a travellers dog ! Instead he had enough love for everyone in the extended family - we all had 'shares' in Homer Dog.
He's crossed the bridge to run free...:A

Night night, God bless and stay safe

    Morning all,

    Mine for yesterday:

    1. Made some fruit and nut breakfast muffins before work using up some apples that were looking a bit sad, wasn't sure if they would work but they were yummy and had enough to take some into work.
    2. Not MSE but was seduced by a cookbook, Hummingbird bakery, it has some lovely cupcake and muffin recipes in it plus is was only £5 which is money left from christmas. Can you hear all the excuses here for a book I know I don't need but so want
    3. Checking bank balance today and it is well in credit 5 days before payday:T So will be able to transfer some money into the savings account.
    4. Managing to get some presents for OH birthday today at 70% off plus one to put away for christmas
    5. Lovely thank you letter off a friends daughter for the baby blanket that I made for her, I don't have much confidence in the things I make as not very crafty but he assured me she loved it.

Sparrer - Hugs to you and your family
Scotrae - Glad to hear your mum is on the mend and I hope your dad feels better soon as well
Acey - Well done for standing your ground with your ex, your boys sound like a credit to you.

  • Morning everyone
Well I didn't get on yesterday as felt very grumpy. It's my 40th on Thursday - yikes!!
Me and my mate were supposed to be doing something and she's let me down at the last minute so will be billy not mates during the day. So better think of my 5, here goes.
    1. DH has booked day off on Friday so we can drop DS off at school and then sneak out and have my birthday on Friday instead.
    2. DH and DS are going to make me a birthday cake tonight.
    3. could be worse I could be spending my 40th at work in a job I hate - oh that was my 30th :)
    4. My back is getting better slowly but surely.
    5. DS is settling into school nicely, it's time for me to find a job and be me again, scarey times but feel quite excited too.

  • Blech, I'm off work poorly. There haven't been many pleasures over the past few days, but here goes:

    1) Making a corned beef hash. As I didn't go to Mum's as usual, I had to cook dinner for us both last night. I served it on crumpets, and DH really enjoyed the change and thought it really worked. Always nice.

    2) Watching the odd cooking programme. I think they're the only good part of daytime TV and certainly I can't wait to get back to work.

    3) Resting. My body is needing all the rest it can get, so it is taking the opportunity.

    4) Lots of cups of tea. I boil the kettle once, mind, and put the water in a flask so I don't have to keep getting up!

    5) DH. Nuff said. :)

(((Hugs))) to your DD, Sparrer, ref Homer Dog xxx

    My 5 for yesterday:

    1. Delicious curry with my brother and his girlfriend, at a very cheap price. Yum!

    2. A good and productive day at work.

    3. A client bringing her lovely dogs in to the office.

    4. Hopefully being able to cheer up a colleague who was a bit down, by listening to her vent.

    5. Laughing at some of the messages I've had from the dating website I'm on. One guy thought it appropriate to ask me, in his first message, whether I own a tiny black G-string....so far I've not replied....:rotfl:
