Hello all, sorry I haven't posted for ages as life has been a bit hectic - mostly in a good way.

I thought I'd post today to cheer myself up as a friend posted some pictures of my ex husband and his new woman on Facebook - we split up two years ago and they've been together since shortly after (I suspect that actually they were together before but he says not). Anyway I still feel weird seeing him with someone else even though I have a lovely new partner and I'm annoyed at myself for feeling anything because he caused me enough heart ache when we aere together..........

Sorry - rant over, here is the good stuff!

1 - Had a lovely night out on Friday and made friends with a really nice girl.
2 - We get the keys to our new house in less than a month - yippee can't wait!
3 - a very kind friend replaced our ancieny fuse box with a nice shiny new one that doesn't need fuse wire.
4 - seeing the sun come up over the sea this morning, quite beautiful
5 - knowing that while splitting up with the ex was painful, it was absolutely the right thing to do and I'm much better off the way things are :)

Hugs to all, have a good day

  • My pleasures today are:
    • Had a great bird watching weekend – went to our local RSPB sanctuary, we saw loads of red wings, woodpeckers and a fieldfare and a mystery bird!! Looked like a stripy sparrow and had us really scratching our heads (turned out it was a meadow pipit!!) super cute!
    • Glad our cars started with no problem all through the cold weather – cant tell you what a relief it is after having years of cars that would be touch and go in this weather – so nice to know that I can rely on my car!
    • New carpet was laid in the spare room over the weekend and it now feels like our home belongs to us – not the cowboys who lived their before us! Plus it feels super snug and I managed to knock £85 off carpet right’s quote by doing some MSE bargain hunting – must leave good checkatrade review though!
    • Love new (free – thanks MSE!) haircut, feel like a have new hair, last few weeks ive been spending hours counting the split ends, now I feel like a new model!
    • Lost 2lbs this week through free WW subscription (thanks MSE!)
    • Going to gym regularly and seeing a progress in my running, it feels slightly like cheating as its running on a treadmill and not outside, but im managing to make personal bests every time – up to 3km that I can run now – but it makes me feel like puking! Still, no pain no gain! Soon ill be able to run the 5k race for life and I will feel like a proper ‘gym bunny!’
    • Got a new recipe for smoked salmon creamy pasta, which I intend to make tonight, looking forward to it
    • Got a ‘date night’ planned tomorrow with OH, we used our tesco CC vouchers fro pizza express – so its super cheap and its nice cos we always have a giggle and talk to each other rather than gawping in front of the TV like most other nights!!
    • Saw some good movies over the weekend which we’d saved from over the xmas period – OH bought some BOGOF toffee popcorn at sainsberries and we turned all the lights out and scoffed and absorbed ourselves in the movie – just like being at the pictures but better – got 3 more movies on sky+ so hope to do it again tonight!
    • Cat was super loving last night – sat on my lap during larkrise to candleford and was looking into my eyes with a lovely look of contentedness! Bless her, shes a gorgeous cat and I love her to bits

Quite a lot today which is nice especially seeing as it’s a Monday!

    Hi all

Scotrae, best wishes for your DM

    Ollie
, looking forwards to your posts again

Ampersand, where are you? Anybody got any news? Hope all is well with you.

I have been a bit rushed off my feet in the last few days and every time I got into MSE for a quick catch up and post on this thread I got diverted (OS meets etc). So here are a number of random pleasures from the last few days.

1 - The weather is much more pleasant, milder and there is no ice on the roads.

2 - A friend of mine reminded me that I have a really good quality of life and I have to agree completely with her. I am grateful for all I have and do!

3 - Invited to friend's birthday party with DH, had a great time

4 - Special offer on new treatment in organic beauty store.

5 - Opportunity might arise for a bit of work in said organic store, both for me and for DD.

6 - All the lovely loaves of bread that DD's BF brings back from his work in a bakery/patisserie when it is unsold.

7 - I was selected to be a volunteer promoting real bread (the Real Bread Campaign). Starting the day after tomorrow, one day per week, can't wait!

8 - Jumble sale: I found some amazing bargains including a Viyella dress, just the shape I wanted and perfect fit, for 25 pence.

9 - Morsbags making with my friend, now we have what we hope will be a regular morsbagging workshop on Fridays in the afternoon.

10 - Said friend nearly went to buy a new mini-sewing machine in Argos but I persuaded her to come with me to the Deptford Sewing Machine shop instead, where they sell new and reconditioned used machines and for the same price she was going to spend in Argos she got a much better machine (second hand) and they threw in extra needles, bobbins, thread and a brand new carry bag. Very happy!

So many pleasures, so little time to list them all... but I am really happy and glad to have so many opportunities for joy in my life, with my family and friends.

I hope you are all well. Love to all xxx
Finally I'm an OAP and can travel free (in London at least!).

  • Today's pleasures:-

    1. Trip up the garden path revealed that the chard which was wilting and soggy had actually sprouted new growth from the middle - so some salad leaves for lunch.

    2. Finding the giant red mustard had survived in the cold frame even though all light had been excluded my a duvet of snow or two weeks - so more salad leaves for lunch.

    3. A trip to town and coffee and scone with DH.

    4. No Sale bagains for me, so no temptation.

    5. Gardening, yes gardening in January so now have several new saladings sown to grow on indoors, and all large pots/tubs washed ready for the new season.

    Greetings all...

I am in a very happy place today. Not sure why, possibly because I feel a bit more in control now that I have worked through my to-do list and realised that it is only so long because I am waiting for other people to come back to me on things. So:

    1) Feeling calm and collected at work.

    2) Being pointed in the direction of IVC as a way to meet new people. I'd never heard of it before, and it has made me feel very excited and optimistic

    3) Seeing my old boss's photo's of his beautiful new daughter. I'm almost broody!!

    4) Setting up a date to meet a new man... he's about to go on holiday but we have organised to meet up for a drink when he gets back

    5) Taking my full lunch hour

    Have a great evening everyone.

    Good evening/morning everyone :D

    My 5 for Monday..

    1. Went back to my exercise class this morning, it had been put off because of....you guessed it, the snow! Lovely to get back but it proved I haven't been working as hard as I should at home, I ache in places I didn't know I had places :rotfl:. It would also have been a nsd except I had to pay my subs

    2. Visited DD to say farewell to one of her pups who's going to a new home on Wednesday . I'll miss her enormously as will DD of course, but she's going to a lovely home which DD knows so she'll be well looked after. In a few months DD may even see her at the shows, she goes to most of the Spitz ones with her own show dogs.

    3. Another lovely day, lots of sunshine and really quite mild. Windows and doors open again and a good blow to get rid of the cobwebs :D

    4. Managed to get into the garden for a bit of a tidy up after the bad weather. The snowdrops are out, daffs pushing up, crocuses just beginning to show...all seems to be well out there :)

    5. A siesta - the first one I've managed for a week and oh, I did enjoy it! But why is it that when I'm having a lovely nap and a nice dream the dratted phone always rings

Night night n God bless all, :grouphug: for everyone
