    Hugs All!

Quick 5 for yesterday, as trying to keep up with new year resolution. (Trying to look on the bright side of life a bit more!)

    1. Back to normal at school. Actually did a lesson yesterday! (English tests at mo). As the class left, one of the girls told me 'Good lesson Miss!'.........Bless!

    2. Early start as daughter needs to be in the pool at 5.45am:eek:, but had a good chat with swimming mums as we haven't seen each other since before the snow.

3 Breakfast at McDonalds with DD. Not v OS, but not much choice on our way to school and college. Did use a loyalty card for free coffee. Nice to spend some time with DD, just the two of us. (Apart from the huge amount of time I spend taxiing her around!!)

    4. HM Cottage pie for tea, which everyone ate.

    5. Walk with DH and smelly dog. (Still not washed!).

    6. Watching new Harry Potter DVD with DH and both boys. (DS1 doesn't usually have anything to do with us as he is 14.......)

    Have a good day:A

Thanks to everyone for the kind wishes regarding my mum. She's home now and other than having very little recollection of what happened or her time in hospital she's 'back to normal'. A bit scary though - a warning to Dad to keep his phone on him (it appears she'd called him twice in a minute from the phone next to the chair he found her in - but his phone was in their bedroom and not his pocket when he popped round to a neighbour). I'm just glad she can't remember how confused she was because she must have been so frightened. Anyhow - onwards and upwards, this year can only get better ...

    My 5 for yesterday:

    1. Getting an early phonecall from my most recent interview because I'd asked for feedback. Really encouraging - 'very close second' and all that and down to experience the other person had over me and not daft answers at interview!

    2. Baking some cakes ready to take one for each DS on the school run. HM raspberry jam in DH's ... murmurs of approval all round!

    3. Both sons waving to me across the schoolyard with smiles on their faces at the end of the day, even before they knew I had HM cakes in my bag!

    4. Stopping to get some pet supplies and bumping into a very dear friend who had moved back to the area without me realising. We don't always keep in touch but it's so good when we do - there's a real sisterly bond IYKWIM. Can't wait to catch up properly over coffee later this week.

    5. Getting a phonecall calling me for my third interview from the last 3 applications. The deadline was Sunday but I hadn't spotted the job til late last week and what with Mum's events over the weekend. I had a miserable afternoon and evening on Sunday trying to get it done and emailed it with fingers crossed at 11.55pm! I told DH I just couldn't risk not applying because I'd always wonder. A 2-hour interview mind you!

    My 5 for yesterday:

    1. Short day at work - always good!

    2. Reading some excellent online fiction.

    3. Realising that I was tired and at a low ebb, so in bed by 8.40pm for lots of sleep.

    4. Delicious chickpea and tomato curry for tea.

    5. Making up a big tub of hummus, thereby using up some lemons that were getting past their prime.

Have a good day, everyone x

    Hi all

    Here are mine for today:

1 - No-work day (except for a quick 1-hour email check and response, no hardship!)

2 - Craft day, started a machine patchwork cushion with very nice fabrics they have at the class

3 - Still at the textile class, found a large piece of Harris tweed fabric, lovely, going to make either a shift dress if enough fabric, but if not I can still make a skirt and waistcoat.

4 - I did the accounts for the wholefoods bulk order that I get every month and the figures tallied first time around YIPPEE!

    5 - Found 5p on the floor

6 - Going to make soya chunks casserole with bubble and squeak tonight (or perhaps with dumplings and will steam the brussel sprouts separately, see how I feel).

Have a great night everybody xxx
Finally I'm an OAP and can travel free (in London at least!).

    1) tea and brekkie in bed from dp
    2) being sensible, taking it steady and making inroads on work backlog from being off sick
    3) dd/dp making fruity bread in the breadmaker, they're trying EagerLearner's slowcooker rice tomorrow :)
    4) dp made 'chicken inspired by eating too much ratatouille' for tea, yummy!
    5) looking forward to watching the Hairy Bikers Mums Know Best tonight
    6) hoping to feel better soon and get out more ;)

scotrae well done and good luck with the interview

  • 1) Book Club last night. As usual, I'd forgotten it was on but a phone call from a friend reminded me and I had a lovely evening. Also, someone lent me the book, saving me the cost of getting it.
    2) DH has booked some time off work in 2010. They are working even sillier hours than usual at the moment (unfortunately there is no extra pay - they are setting up a new business) so it is a great relief to hear that there will be a break now and again.
    3) First proper week back at work without snow days, half days etc.
    4) Risotto and left over salad for tea, at a cost of virtually nothing. I do like rubber chicken. Fruit cake for afters, which I made at the weekend, so hardly any cooking too.
    5) Catching up on all the Christmas visits that couldn't be fitted in - first Musketeer and her husband came on Friday, we went to MIL's to see DH's brothers on Saturday and this weekend my cousin is coming over with her children. Christmas is such a good excuse to see people.

    Today's pleasures:-

    1. DD bringing me a pressie. A nice pen she had unearthed in a Sale rummage for 10p - it had been much more than that.

    2. Scone and coffee here before going on shopping trip with DD.

    3. No bargains, but no excessive spends in Mr. T either, just a bag of value carrots and a pack of value mixed fruit - very restrained.

    4. First 'picnic' of the year in the car on Mr. T's car park with DD. I had cream of cabbage soup from a flask with a turkey roll hm of course. She had leftover lentil curry. All very OS.

    5. Crocheting a curly scarf for a friend's birthday from some scraps of yarn.

    Bella.

    hiya all

    Mine are:

1 Heated seat in the courtesy car this morning!!! Bliss after scraping ice off windows! Its going back tomorrow and i am so sad to see it go!!!

2 Shopping with my mate looking for bargains - she is brilliant at finding bargains so am learning lots from her!

3 Finishing my crochet dragon. Only took me 2 nights (late late nights), an afternoon, broken crochet hook (gaffer taped up so is useable) and a huge blister on my finger but he is finished and he is now attatched to my keyring!

4 Being offered toys eyes from a lovely lady on the christmas forum, and my neighbour giving me a huge bag of salted peanuts.

5 Buying lots of carrots on offer in aldi and spending the afternoon chopping, blanching and freezing them! Also doing the same with all the onions i got there last week.

6 Planting the herb seeds finally. Trying to grow them on my window cill and while i was at it i planted some tomato seeds and a few other things just to see if they grow!

7 Watching a film with the kids, snuggled up under blankets, eating popcorn, as a treat as they are missing daddy who is away with work until tomorrow.

Thats alot for me today! Good times!!!!!!!!!! :)
